Also, I believe he has about a year or so to live.  He mentions the Hanar are still working on a cure, and you get a chain-mail (highly controversial over how important it really is) on a possible cure hint / foreshadowing for future DLC or ME3. ^_^

I kept that letter in my inbox.

At the end where it says send this letter to six people, I was just like, "Screw that! I'll send it to 6,000 people it it will help Thane!"

*tries to find the reply to message button*

Crap! There isn't one! Nooooooooooo!

I'm a big fan of Thane. He's a dark, tragic, well-developed character and is, IMO, the best romance for FemSheps. I swears, that last scene together is powerful. "Be alive with me tonight..."

Which is why, as much as I adore him as a character, I think he should still die. That's his story arc. Even on a suicide mission, his illness is a constant reminder of the inevitability of death. That makes the relationship with him, or romance with him, that much more powerful, poignant, and important.

To just outright "cure" him I think belittles him as a character, much in the same way Final Fantasy X spent 30-40 hours hammering in the fact that we lose people we love and that sacrifices are hard.... only for FFX-2 to walk all over that game and give players the fairy tale happy ending using moon logic. It belittled the message and characters of the first game tremendously.

I don't want that for Thane. He's fantastic, which is why I treasure my time with him knowing he won't be around forever... or even within a couple of years. When you know you're going to lose something and you can't stop it, it makes you value it that much more.

I wouldn't agree Thane is "The best" character by bioware ever but he's good - wouldn't mind seeing him again, but frankly, that'd be cheating what with the whole "I'm dying" disease.

I respect your opinion but I don't agree.

His illness has nothing to do with his skills as an assassin, his soothing prayers, or his snappy outfits.  If it would mean more to you to have Thane die to his illness, I respect your view.

What us cure for Thane fans want, is an option to cure him.  Those that don't want it, don't have to choose it, yet those of us who feel it's unfair to not be able to do anything to help him (so far) will be much ^_^happier.

Lol, again I have to disagree.  I appreciate your support for the character, but not giving us supporters the option to cure Thane isn't fair.

His illness didn't make the character of Thane anymore interesting to me.  I enjoyed his character because he was romantic, skilled, and dressed like a fox.  I just don't see how his illness at all affects that.

Though, we all have different views.  An optional cure would make us all happy. ^_^

I love you how described how he dressed. "Snappy" and "like a fox".

Garlador, you do have a point. But I think the reason I also love Thane so much and want to cure him because in RL my boyfriend has a terminal incurable illness. It's like, you love them soooo much and even though you know that they'll more than likely leave this earth before you do, you still want to do whatever you can to try and find a cure, or even something that can extend their lifespan.

But I do understand and respect what you say.

I still want to cure him though. I think giving players the option to cure him is feasible.

He he he....dressed like a fox.

Ha ha!

Okay then, I'll use my graphic designer skills for something useful finally!

I'll make some t-shirt designs and post them here and on the Thane fan clubs.

To be honest, I felt in a way that with being able to cure Thane's illness.. could also give those of us who have encountered terminal illness first hand in real life the little relief in this fictionary world to just punch it in the face and say, "Yeah.. f'you incurable diseases that have cures that just haven't been found yet."

It was like, when you install the Thanix Canons on the Normandy, and you blow that d*mn collector ship all to crap.  Then joker goes "Take that you sons of b*tches!"  uggh it just felt so satisfying.

I know it's extremely nerdy for me to compare kicking an illness in the face to Thanix Canon goodness, not only that but true terminal illnesses are.. well I don't have words to describe them.

Eh, now I'm getting all sentimental.

Awww...Thanks Kalli. ^__^

"Yeah.. f'you incurable diseases that have cures that just haven't been found yet."

That made me gigglesnort whilst in class. Kinda embarrassing, but well worth it. I know you mean though. You would think that it's so far into the future that they would be able to cure many diseases, if not all of them. Hell, they brought Shepard back from the dead!

I understand how you feel none the less. I lost my grandfather to lyphoma and then a very good friend died of it also. He was 55. Far too young to die in my opinion. Lyphoma can be cured in a way but I've never known anyone to survive. It's very sad.

So please my dear developers, give us an option! I'd like to think that after all the advancements in science and technology, there could be something to save our friend and for some, lover. :(

/score 1 for Kalli on the gigglesnort in the middle of class :P

Zomgah.. tell me about it.  Not only did they bring Shepard back from the dead.. but after she/he was burned, suffocated, and drifting around in the vacum of space.. *coughs* <_<
