Almost 500 hundred votes in, and the "modular armor for everyone"-option gets even more popular.

Maybe they will release as DLC some more sidekick missions that when completed will unlock new cloths that actually look like armor, that would probably make most people happy + you get to learn more about your party members past/unfinished business

putting armor on the squadmates will completely lose their specific look and feel and make them into generic squadmates.

there should be an option in the poll for expanding Shepard's customization, but keeping the squadmates the same.

The point is that the squadmates have their own modular armor, so they still look unique.

The third option is the option you want.

I would like to add a fifth option to the poll, "None of these are good systems, I have my own idea", but for some reason the polls can't be edited that way.

I picked the first choice but I don't mind ME2's armor system for Shepard only. I just wish there was a few more choices in armor pieces.

I would like to add a fifth option, and since I can't add more "official" options to the poll this one has to be an "unofficial" option.

Shepard gets the modular N7, with the option to choose between light-, medium- and heavy-N7. Squadmates get 2-3 different unique armors each, with ME 1 style upgrades, maybe 3 upgrade slots per armor. This way there could be lots of different upgrades for the squadmates, and the squadmates would retain their unique look.

So basically this is the compination between ME 1 and ME 2 armor systems. If you like this option, give your opinion on this thread or in the polls comment section.

I could do with some customisation options for the team's arm... well can't really call Miranda's armor, so outfits.
Even simple color and pattern changes, like Shep's N7 would be nice, but I'm guessing this is something that should've been implemented from the get go and is impossible to do now.

The poll concerns ME 3, since it's too late to chance ME 2. Added it into poll description.

Don't forget the "fifth option"-mentioned at my earlier post, and now also added as a comment in the polls comment section.

I'd have preferred to actually have real modular options in ME2. Yes, three or four options each across five slots equals roughly a thousand different combinations, times three patterns and a truckload of nasty colouring options. But it's not really much of a choice when the choice for each individual component is so limited, and if each component confers different gameplay benefits.

Hence, my personal wish would be '**** the companions, I want properly modular armor for Shepard to begin with'.

That said, I could also go for more than mere reskins in the way of options for each squadmate. But a full modular system seems too much. Two or three sets of combat and casual clothing each and a choice of headgear if any would be fine, I think.

Maybe the weirdest armor related removal in ME 2, was the total lack off damage- and tech/biotic-protection. They were pretty important in ME 1, Colossus X gave about 80% of damage protection, and I would much rater take an armor piece which would give me 50% damage protection for my health than one that that would give me 10% more shields.

I think this was an unnecessary dumbening of the system. Sometimes I think Bioware made it on purpose, just so they could fix it for ME 3.

The poll at:

PS. Don't forget the fifth option.

PPS. Saw the "trailer" for Halo:Reach yesterday. The Spartans have modular customizable armor in it, the different parts grant different abilities for the Spartans. It's kind of funny, that in a straight up shooter there is a more complex armor system than in a rpg like ME.

I think it is absurd to see my squadmates running around space in a single layer of clothing and a nurse's mask. The armor in ME1 may not have been pretty, but it fit the setting (80s sci-fi) perfectly.

Definitely feel that squadmates too should have casual and armour outfits. Plus it'd also be nice to have casual wear on when in hub locations. Dancing in the Dark Star does not go well in armour. And of course you already know the helmet drinking story.

Yeah, it's really weird that you can't take the helmet of from the other armors (the sole reason why I won't use them), and BW has even declared that they aren't going to fix it for ME 2.

Bioware got sloppy in the fashion department. Probably since they devoted effort to dialogue instead, and you can really see how, for instance all those little dialogues from talking to certain squadmates at certain locations, etc. but those are one shot things... that effort could've been spent in giving Jack something to wear :(

Or maybe they could've devoted effort to the outfits rather than making so many goddam planets to scan, each with a little codex entry. I mean... it got to a point where I even stopped reading those new planet discriptions...

I can't understand why they would have removed armour options for your squad anyway? It just doesn't make any sense to me.Coupling that withe the inability to remove your helmet is a complete shot in the foot for Bioware.

I could, sort of, understand if the games were the other way around, eg. ME2 comes before ME1, but they're not, they didn't have to write any code, it was already there.

Sensibility-wise inability to remove your helmet on the spot makes sense because to be able to remove the helmet means the character will have to be carrying the helmet in his arms all the time, which is quite silly especially if you're in a combat scene.

Which is why I'd still prefer helmets on only in scenarios which require a breather apparatus (like the case with squadmates). And to avoid complications, scrap the idea of helmets that boost stats to avoid complications. and make helmets purely aesthetic.

Maybe they went on the opposite side of the spectrum on purpose, just to see what people think. And then find the "perfect" balance between ME 1 and ME 2 systems for ME 3 (at least I hope so).

Maybe? But its still a very stupid decision in my view.

I'm not going to be over-critical of ME3, where-as I bought ME1 and 2 at launch.

Every piece of customizable armour they made for a squad made would probably mean one less for Shepard.

So I prefer keeping the squadmates looking unique, with more options for Shepard.
