There are places around that a character can seem to get into that they should not be able to... like appear on top of a pillar or table, and not be able to get off. Also, all of a sudden, the character will start floating in the air, with their NPC's with them. This usually occurs outside combat, but not always. Sometimes, I am able to work my way out by moving around or getting out of game and coming back in... while other times, I must go back to the latest save that is unstuck. It just seems that the character's 'Z' coordinates gets screwed up and/or they get somewhere they should not be. This has happened a few times to me; however, I do not seem able to repeat it in the same area. This makes me wonder if (especially with the walking on air issue) a bad coordinate gets into the system and just needs to be worked out.

yup had that happen a good few times myself, it seems to happen to me if I try to hug a wall as I move forward, its happened about once in every two missions I run and is starting to get annoying, especially since last time it happened just after I finished and stayed to investigate a container so I had finished the mission but my previous save had been corrupted and wouldnt load, meaning I had to go back and run though the mission from the start ! :(

I have also encountered this issue a few times. It's pretty annoying but it hasn't caused me to lose too much progress. Just load your last autosave.

Yes it's a very common problem likely due to errors in model bounding / clipping regions and terrain clipping / passable regions. You're basically entering a hole or otherwise merging across a boundry you shouldn't and then you're inside or ontop of the invisible bounding etc etc. Can happen all over the place from what I've seen. The -really- annoying part is if there was a jump implemented then we could likely jump our way out of the problem back into playable space. Of the may occasions I've found myself warping up or into these errors so far I was only able to exit the error once (physically and without a quickload), which does indicate if we could jump we would likely be able to work our way off the issue. But of course we cant so as it stands now they'll likely be re-chewing tons of objects and terrain detail looking to fix these things instead of just giving us a quick jump implementation and be done with it.

If you are stuck in mid air, you can ussually save and reload and load in falling to the ground. (To be safe make a new save). If you get stuck on a pillar or something this doesn't work (In fact it makes it worse)... but thats why you press 'f5' after every encounter.
