this is the darker of the chapters in ME after all. so i was thinking there was going to be sex, blood, gore, a big good story, and alot of replay to it. i was sad when that didn't happen.
still a good game. but it's hardly a rpg any more and more of a FPS now. not even a TPS

[e]I'm sorry, I forgot about the 40 mins it takes you to kill everything on the map and find every resource node while trying not to slide back down the mountain you barely climbed.

Right, the game is now first-person. Yep, that's true.

"more of a" got to read the fine print. other wise we'll be a slave on illium.
Yes, the game's first-person portions are more numerous than it's third-person portions, because first-person portions actually exist in ME2. We don't have any evidence of them, but that shouldn't be a hindrance to making statements like this.

How is it at all a First Person Shooter? That is, how is it MORE of a FPS than a THIRD PERSON Shooter?

Sure; there could have been more weapons/armor ingame at launch, but with the Cerberus network we're supposed to be getting a nice string of DLC(Such as the Hammerhead hovertank, and missions for it, along with armor pieces and weapons).
What I really want, are more side-missions. I LOVE exploring or running across side-missions. But maybe thats just because I love the combat with my infiltrator. Since killing doesn't give experience gains, only completing missions do; I'd like there to be random 'hot-zones' in the world that are more or less "Drop in, kill the mercs/terrorists/whatever, keep any money/resources you find as payment".
If there's one thing that will kill this game, it's a lack of combat. Granted I'll play through it again, but sometimes I just want to drop everything and go kill stuff; and having money and resources coming in would kinda help me flesh out stuff for my team.(I've concentrated on weapon and tech upgrades for MY character, not my squad because dropping 75k cred on something that I don't use for a single upgrade isn't easy to do).
Could even have the hotspots listed as Light, Medium, Heavy-etc for the kind of resistance estimated. Light would just be lightly armed, medium would toss in afew tougher guys, and Heavy could be vehicles, heavy mechs, etc.
I don't however agree that everything should have been kept like ME. There were afew things it did'nt do well, just like there are some things ME2 doesn't do well. But they changed, added and fixed enough things that the things they kinda 'messed up' on are understandable.

I don't know. In Rainbow Six you can shout commands at the wall for as long as you please. I guess that's more of a monologue though.

Oh, dear me, yes.
As flawed as it might have been for ME1, something like Pinnacle Station (except free, given the Cerberus Network system <__<) would be absolutely wonderful; it's actually FUN to fight in this game.
Even if we got some sort of VR trainer or something, I would love to see some sort of fast-action options to practice my strategies, find good squad builds, etc.

I think it's amazing how so many of us are totally (or in my case, slightly) disappointed by Mass Effect 2 after playing Mass Effect 1, but the critics seem to think the opposite...this is the highest rated game since Bioshock.
Where do you think that every person that is disappointed in ME2 comes? That's right, right here. So there should really be no surprise that these boards do not reflect the reality of the outside world. It happens with any game really, well, unless the developers decide to make a sequel and change nothing at all, which does happen occasionally.

Critics are paid by big game companies to give good reviews. MW2 got good reviews, but it sucked. I never listen to reviews.Colinissile wrote...

i don't know man. I'm just let down. Mass Effect is the only RPG that I play and I've been waiting awhile for ME2. I might get over it, but I just don't know why devs don't just leave a good thing the way it is. Maybe make improvements, but don't re-do the whole game. Sometimes i feel like I'm playing Gears of War, when All I want too do is explore planets, go on side missions, and finally win the game. But they took half that stuff out.
I loved travelling for hours through empty generic terrain, and going through the same bunkers and warehouses.

so was halo 2. best saling game(of it's time) but once you beat the game. your left saying ......that's it.
You maybe. I would agree, but there are a great many people that love to replay the campaign as well as go online and fight other people.

That would explain why Catwoman for the Xbox (also published by EA) got a 45 on Metacritic. God, it's amazing how easy the arguments posted on these forums are to knock down.

They could have added better terrain, more diverse terrain, and maybe rouge bandits or creatures to fight on the planets, along with planets without enemies that were just beautiful and awsome to explore. The could have also created more diverse buildings on the planets. Instead, they just deleted all that WTF. When I saw the two disc I felt like this game is gona be a rpg shooter adventure. Now I'm playing it and well, they fooled me. At least they got what they wanted. My money. Thats what it's all about anyway...................It's like AVATAR....Big advertizing and average movie.Crawling_Chaos wrote...

Maybe you should actually play the game? I've been through a lot of side quests and they've all been unique and interesting.

Could they have added both? Sure, assuming infinite time and resources, but taking into consideration their limitations, I'm much happier that we got what we got than what ME1 gave us.
