How high does your paragon/renegade skill have to be to A) stop the argument or B) get the one you didn't side with loyal?

I believe it has to be 80% or higher - so basically you have to be in the last bar on the paragon/renegade meters.

I think I has about half paragon when they had that fight, and I was able to tell them to cool off and keep them both loyal.

I thought it was around 80% before you could stop them. otherwise you would have to pick a side

It has to be pretty high, but they won't get into the fight until you do both of their loyalty quests. I did Jack's quest, then saved Miranda's until right before I went for the IFF and I had enough Paragon persuade to take care of it during the fight.

Yeah... but you can calm them back down again if you speak with the one you sided against and use charm/intimidate once it gets high enough.

Remember that your class skill increases your persuasion ability by up to +100% if you max it out.

crap, i still have a bit before i get to the IFF. If i go do quests and beef up my stats will the "lets talk this over creepy janet jackson look alike so you dont get killed at the end" dialog option still be there?

I had 80% paragon and maxed out class skill... there must be more to this because I couldn't get Miranda to be the bigger woman...

I didn't have enough paragon to get both, so I chose Jack originally. My paragon level was ridiculously high every time I tried to make up with Miranda, but she never became loyal. But hey, it was her loss in the end (although she did prevent me from getting everyone out alive).

I was able to instantly stop Tali and Legion from losing their loyalty, must of been at around 80% Paragon.

I needed 100% paragon to convince Miranda to let it go afterwards, though. So it's not that easy if you are not going full Paragon/Renegade.

using my "one selfish bump per year" card, in the hopes that some one will have a definitive answer.

The best option is to diffuse the situation DURING THE FIGHT with the paragon choice. I don't think I was even in the last paragon bar by that point and the paragon option was available.

Picking sides just seems like a dumb move. If you don't have enough points to diffuse the fight, reload and don't do the loyalty quest.

If I remember correctly I had around 2/3 paragon at that point, and the full Bastion skill tree.

I have a couple of theories on this. I think difficulty may have something to do with it, and I think whether or not you've started a romance path may have something to do with it. I say that 'cause I got to the fight in my first playthrough, and even though neither my Paragon nor my Renegade were very high, I was able to stop it without losing either one of their loyalties. I bumped the difficulty up considerably when I restarted, and even though I had Paragon into the last bar on the meter this time around, I couldn't stop it. Also couldn't regain the loyalty of the one I pissed off afterwards.

I hadn't started Miranda's romance BS the first time through, and I had the second. I chose to ****** off Jack the second time, but now I'm starting to wonder if reloading the save and going with pissing off Miranda might work, 'cause she's all in luuurves with Shep and thus might need a little less Paragon/Renegade to convince her. Or the amount of Paragon/Renegade needed really is just tied to difficulty and nothing else.

So far my playthroughs have all been on normal difficulty. I've imported a level 60 character that gave me a 160+ paragon bonus in the beginning. Chose mostly (but not all) paragon options, with my class I always max out the specialty option that gives you a bonus to your paragon and renegade scores (which might have something to do with it). With all of that I have never had a paragon option blocked for me at any time. I've started up a NG+ and so far, I'm having the same results, but I haven't gotten that far into the game yet.

Yeah, that's not so much an option on my current playthrough; I only have Jack and Samara's loyalty quests left, and I know from experience that doing Samara's as pure Paragon won't get me enough points to get the Paragon option to pop in the fight.  I wasn't trying to specifically play either Paragon or Renegade, so I'm into the last bar on Paragon and a little over halfway up Renegade.  Neither option pops.  A couple hours spent scouring the galaxy for Paragon points has turned nothing up, and if it is, in fact, tied to difficulty, then I'm screwed, 'cause I don't want to lower it just for that scene and miss out on the achievement.

Edit: Come to think of it, it could also be tied to level.

I also regret that there's no option for, "why don't you two fight it out".

mine is well over 80% and I can't get the paragon option during the initial fight. I think it's a glitch or bug with female Shepard only. I have heard a number of people having this problem. I hope they look into it.

Did you romance one of them? (Or possibly both of them)

I heard this makes a difference.

Interesting, I didn't realize loyalty was lost over this. I was playing a renegade/neutral character and did the two loyalty missions relatively early in recruitment. I wish I could remember the details of in regards to LI/renegade. Im oretty sure I was only about 3-4 bars of renegade.

Im thinking I had started romancing Jack, but I took Miranda's side and selected the renegade option. It makes since that I could snub Jack a little and get away with it.

Now im worried for my second playthrough dammit.

Has anyone tried this with the Negotiation Bonus that's tied to the Death Mask? I know you aren't in your Commando outfit, but I would think the bonus still applies.
