Hmmmm, already had a number of replies from people who obviously didn't read the OP, can't blame you it's long winded. So just so you know, I'm not saying Mass Effect stole anything, I'm not saying it was heavily inspired by farscape, I'm simply saying if you like Mass Effect you may fall in love with Farscape as I find it to be the best sci-fi show to fill my Mass Effect adiction, as I think the two have a number of simularities you can't find in many sci-fi shows.

A great man named Stephen Colbert once said, "Theres a diffrence between imitation and emulation." I beleave this is very true. Starcraft STOLD from warhammer 40k, literally, long story between that one. Mass Effect pays tributes to the greats, it's inspired by the greats, but it does not steal from the greats.

It reminds me of one show in particular, Farscape, who Morrigan's voice actor (dragon age) stared in. Some one on on the penny-arcade forums said the ME universe was very much like a combination of Farscape and the new Star Trek movie. I couldn't agree more ^_^

Long story short, right around now, I'm sure allot of you are on your 2nd playthrough, and as great as the game may be, it will start to get old. Once that day comes I highley suggest you give Farscape a chance. It is simply one of the most brilliant shows ever created. And lucky for you guys, also stars hawt sexually charged blue alien chicks <3.

Give it a shot TRUST ME it's an amazing amazing amazing amazing amazing show. Heres the first episode. In five parts it's off the wall.

It was canceled after the 5th season, but was tied up with a very nice mini-series. Good news is, recent news that it's finally being brought back!

PS- Starts off somewhat light hearted at first, but by the end of the first season is just as dark as Mass Effect.

I love Farscape, but I don't see how it has so much in common with Mass Effect. There are some similar themes and character archetypes but thats basically it.

1. It's one of the very very very few sci-fi shows that has aliens as wild as Mass Effects if not more so... and with just as detailed and rich biology, history, and culture.

2. It's a great combination of humor and darkness.

3. Alien sex up the wazooh.

4. giant violent lizard people that look like Krogan.

5. Short fat ugly greedy race thats good with $$$

6. hot race of blue aliens that look VERY much like the asari.

7. Amazing story mixed with loads of creativity and off the wallness.

8. Similar art direction if you ask me.

9. I'm a big sci-fi geek and this is easily the closest thing I've seen on TV to Mass Effect. One of the reasons I love ME is cause it reminds me of Farscape so much.

lolno.   Mass effect borrows a LOT from Sci fi in general, but I think its kind of stupid you can pin all the inspiration to Farscape...which I flat out disagree with.

lolno. Read posts before you respond I never made such a claim. Mass Effect draws from allot of classics (like I said drawing from does not mean stealing.)

IGN.com actually has a great article on this, but I can't find the link.

Claudia Black (Morrigan's voice actor) also does the voice of one of the Quarian admirals in ME2.

Huzzah!

Yeah, I got a FarScape vibe off of ME2 in particular, the Collector general looks very similar to Pilot. And asari look a lot like the delvians too.

Not that this is a bad thing, since FarScape is one of my all-time favourite shows, and should never have been cancelled.

Okay, Farscape is hands down my favorite TV show ever made. EVER. I own the entire series, along with the movie, on DVD... and ... the only comparison I can draw is that I designed my character after Ben Browder...

If only I could name my pistol Winona and have that awesome Peacekeeper coat he wears.

You thought Zhaan looked asari on the show, check out this picture of the costume before Virginia Heys agreed to shave her head

I'd still chalk it up to coincidence, tho

Actually in many sci-fi shows the "hot" aliens are blue. Star Wars is another example, I don't know why, but people seem to like the Twie, errrr, whatever you call them. The blue ones with the head tails. I think cause blue is a colour that is calming and sexual like how red inspires angre and orange hunger.

Mmm... Zhaan... Not the only hot blue chick on the show, though.

Might I suggest "Self Inflicted Wounds" Pt 1 and 2 from season 3?

My fav is through the looking glass in season 1. That was SO trippy and creepy all at once. Plus Rygel's line, "Shall I disrobe so it's memorable?" as he cuddles John may be the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV.

I think if I had to pick a favorite, it would simply be all of season 3. I'm not entirely sure why. Granted, there isn't a single episode I DON'T like.

...I may have to go on a Farscape binge again... Earlier in the summer I watched the entire series from start to finish over the course of a few days... I... that sounds like a great idea.
