Your best bet is to make sure you do loyalty stuff and be prepared for the Omega 4 relay stuff.. before you do the IFF. That way you do Legion's Loyalty quest, the collectors steal your crew.. and BAM.. you go through the relay and whip some ass and save the crew!

If people and crew you care about are abducted by aliens, would you wait a few months exploring the galaxy before rescuing them?
Gotta act fast before they die!

Go back in time to Final Fantasy VII for instance. How you could spend 'years' breeding a Gold Chocobo or Mastering KotR Materia while you're technically supposed to be racing to stop Meteor.

I think they wanted to upset that assumption a little bit.

Does anyone know if Kenneth dies? I'd assume he'd die with all the other not-quite-as-essential-as-Joker crew, but he was a pretty awesome guy.

Most people aren't actual roleplayers. There's usually no reason not to take full advantage of the fact that games/missions usually aren't 'timed'.

I suppose that's possible. It just seemed really obvious to me that you were being told to go rescue your crew immediately. Couple that with the fact that I had played through all the other content already to get ready for the end, and I had no reason not to go after my crew right away.

I'm just wondering, after I watched the 'crew death' on YouTube. We see Kelly die, and Chakwas says that Rupert (Mess Sergeant), Kelly and Gabriella (the engineer) didn't make it.

If you leave it really late I've read that the only person left is Chakwas.
Basically there is 3 stages... crew lives, half crew dies, virtually all but chakwas dies.

Except in practically every other game, time doesn't matter. Someone new to games would probably go straight away because they'd take the warning at face value, but a long time gamer like me might ignore it because of past experiences. Bioware were devious.

Once you've done it and the IFF is being installed time is limited, when the crew eventually gets kidnapped you'll either have to act fast and risk dying from being unprepared or say "screw the crew" and keep preparing.

...and if the person you send to accompany the survivors back to the ship isn't loyal, Chakwas dies as well.

Thanks. I'll try and get the 'half crew' on my third playthrough. 2nd has got to be my everyone including Miranda survives.
Anyone know why Chakwas survived? Cos I'd kind of prefer having Kelly survive. Just hearing that she could die made me feel a bit scared.

It can go either way, I guess. As a gaming vet, I had already done all the side missions and upgrades and such before the crew was taken, because I knew I was nearing the end of the game. So I went straight after my crew. It is neat that they built in consquences for not doing no, though.

When you get the IFF mission it was sort of implied that the **** would hit the fan when you undertook that mission, which is why you're given the choice to prepare before going there.

They say that for pretty much every mission you go on & only this one acually affects your outcome.

The dialogue was distinctly different as were the dialogue options given to you.

Has anyone done Legion's quest after the crew is stolen and saved the entire crew?
You get the chance to do one mission before the crew is stolen, the reaper IFF is still being installed.
I did legion's loyalty quest immediately after the IFF mission, then went through the relay immediately after the crew was stolen.
