I'm playing on the PC platform.

I've noticed that my squadmates don't all have the same amount of squad points.  Most do, but some are missing a point or two, and I suspect this was not intended - it would certainly be different than ME1, after all.

I think I know what's causing it.  One time, I gained a level on Ilium, talking to the Salarian there.  I noticed that I gained squad points, but the squad mates that were with me did not.  I never saw this when gaining a level via the mission completed screen, only when gaining a level via the +40 point experience awards gained while completing quests on a hub.

I'm not sure if the squad mates that were left back on the ship gained squad points for that level, but I am certain that the ones with me did not.  The fact that the end result was a differing number of points among squad members, though,  would suggest that the squad mates back on the ship did gain the points, and only the ones with me did not.

Just thought I'd mention it.  Should be fairly easy to test and confirm, I'd think.

Bump... just want to make sure someone sees this... tough when things fall off the front page in 11 minutes, heh.

Hmm, okay, I didn't account for the fact that, when you get an NPC loyalty, they gain a free squad point in their loyalty power. That may account for some of the disparity I was seeing in their total points. Still, I'm still sure of the fact that my squad mates didn't get any points when I gained a level in dialogue (again, at the Salarian on Ilium, you have to do a loyalty quest to get the item he needs, forget which one it was), so I'd still consider that an open issue.

They don't get as much as you do, with my current game all that are squadmates that are loyal have 28 vs my characters 48 which is level 27 and those that aren't loyal have 27

Yea, I brought this up in another tread, but I'm guessing squadmates only get 30 points, since they have 4 powers, That leaves them with 3 powers they can totally max, or a combination of powers. Guess Bioware didn't want them to have all thier powers at once.

I know they don't get as many as Shepard, that's fairly obvious, but every time you gain a level via the mission screen, they get (at least) 1 point, while when you get it via dialogue, they don't. That doesn't seem correct, or at the very least it was an awfully big coincidence that the one level they don't get a point was the one level I got via dialogue.

I thought the mission screen was the only way you could get experience? What is this level up by dialog?

There are plenty of instances where you gain +40 xp doing side quests during the game, cashed in when you return to the questgiver. Think of the quarian "thief" on the Citadel, for example. When you resolve that situation, you get +40 xp. A window does pop up advising you of it.

Just for the record, Miranda (and Jacob too I think) have 1 extra point than the others. Don't ask me why, but I noticed this from the get go.

Well, according to this:

http://www.gamebansh...cementtable.php

Non-Shepard squad members *frequently* don't gain any skill points when you level. So, never mind on the bit about dialogue, it probably *was* just a coincidence. That table does also suggest that all squad mates should have the same number of skill points, though, barring the extra point for doing their loyalty quest. I'll see if I can find a reproducible example of that.

Definite bug. Big bug.

I'm doing another adept playthrough. I just leveled to level 8 at Mordin's clinic, after talking to him and getting the fan quest. My adept leveled to level 8 and got his 2 points. Jacob and Maranda got no points!  It is going to suck to have them gimped in an insanity playthrough.

Edit: Oh, thie is the PC version.

Yes, very annoying when i'm waiting for the 4th squad point to max out a skill... Shepherd gets 2 points and NONE of the henchmen get a single point.

Provides for many WTF moments. And while this may be as designed since there's is a point cap (which in itself is patently stupid), it's poor and quite frankly so lazy as to be considered a BUG by everyone but those that chose this route.

The squad members are NOT supposed to get as many points as Shepard, because they have less skills to spend those points on. Also Mirranda and Jacob have 1 point more than others. This is not a bug, at least i'm 100 % sure about the first part, not sure about Mirranda/Jacob.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug. I tried to keep the same NPCs in my team most of the time (except on loyalty missions) and for some reason their squad points seemed to get stuck at 2 (2 waiting to be spent that is), and they never got any more than that. I tried spending those points in the one spot that I could so they had 0. They gained squad points again after that, but it got stuck at 2 again. Pretty much meaning I couldn't get any skill beyond 2 points if I hadn't done so previously.
