There's a lot of nonsensical speculation thrown around based on nothing.

The Aria/Aleena connection, however, is not one of them. Given that it's a game with writers, there's just too many things thrown in that tie them together for me to think it's coincidence. I don't buy that the writer's accidentally threw in two characters with identical profiles and numerous hints along with the same catch phrases. The second I saw her dialogue the writing just SCREAMED that there was more to it than just another character.

The biggest revelation for me however was when speaking with Aria T'Loak about her past before Omega. She is very tight on details, and when you finish the conversation with minimal information she simply tells you "Better luck next time".
Well that set off a huge alarm in my head. Those were the same words sent to Wrex after the final confrontation between him and his Asari commando friend Aleena. That's right, Aria T'Loak  IS  Aleena!
Or at least that's the theory. Immediately I wanted an option to ask Aria about Wrex, to see if my theory was correct.

Great catch. I simply didn't put that together on my own, kudos for catching that. We won't know absolutely for sure until ME3 comes out of course, but I really think you're onto something. Certainly makes sense what with all Aria has said about her past. If this is true, I also have to give Bioware extra credit for thinking of putting Wrex's nemesis into ME2.

To be fair the saying "Better luck next time." is pretty damn common... just because two Asari's use it in very different situations doesn't mean they are one and the same. O_o

Here's something totally unambiguous: according to Galactic News Shepard's mom's a serving admiral in the alliance. As long as you aren't an orphan anyway. Can we go meet mommy in ME3?

Spacer background only, you get to call your mum in ME1, ask about an old comrade of hers whom you encounter on the citadel. Was great for me to hear that she was being thrown an admirals promotion, and refused, preferring to command her Dreadnought. And then she sent me a message :3

And, nice catch on the Aleena/Aria angle, it certainly makes sense. I wonder if there is a DLC plotline in the makings there?

The Dark Energy thing has been worked out by anyone with two brain cells to bang together. They certainly tried to hit us over the head with it enough throughout the plot and conversations.

And, the Matriarch Bartender being Liara's mother... now that's an interesting idea.

Damn, nice catch and it makes sense. She said she used to be an asari commando and mercenary. Also it'd make sense for her to choose a new alias to let the rest of the galaxy think she died. She did talk about "ghosts" and "old enemies."

Very good catch.

All of those have been pointed out. But thanks for bringing them up again. The Aleena thing is something people have been speculating on and I agree with this theory.

Liara as an asari pureblood, means that she has two asari "mothers"

We killed one of them, the "mother" one. (It fits as well, since the Bartender mentions that she was the "father" before she had to leave them)

Anybody else catch TIM referring to Shepard and the rest of humanity as "you humans", think it's after the Horizon mission. It was in in the discussion about the Collectors wiping out all humanity. This suggested to me he either a) wasn't human himself (common he's got those Saren eyes for a reason) or B) he thinks he'd be safe from any Reaper invasion.

Totally agree about the Wrex/Aria thing though, I was thinking that myself.

The Bartender as Liara's father would be pretty cool if you ask me, as Liara had no idea who her dad is, the whole intelligence network idea doesn't really matter as she has no one to look for.

I just love that there's all this revelation up in the air to be resolved in ME3.

Clearly, he did. Your attempt a humor is just rather lame so he's explaining why the OP is right to think based on just a phrase that Aria is Aleena. It's an interesting, credible, theory ( same for the Asari bartender). Both might be wrong but none of it is stupid.   If you're going to poke fun, try harder. Your 'sarcasm'  was misplaced making this attempt at mockery or  'humor 'laughable.

i am not disputing that aria is aleena
bioware likes making charachters return and pretending that everything is just a crazy coincidence
what i am saying is that the connections are ridiculous...they are still true, however, because bioware is fond of making crazy connections

There is also a subtle hint that the traumatized girl from the "I remember me" quest in ME1 might be one of the other subjects at the Pragia facility where you go for Jack's loyalty mission.
After the mission you get a mail (Pragia Facility Update) saying that after Jack's escape, "any surviving children were treated for injuries, given mild amnesic treatments, and delivered to Alliance facilities as survivors of slaver attacks."

I also noticed the matriarch bartender in Eternity on Ilium mention that she once had a pureblood daughter, she was the father, and it didn't turn out well. On top of that she mentions how her outspoken views on the Asari culture got her laughed out of Thesia, the Asari homeworld, such that she ended up serving drinks at a bar instead. All things considered that would make her an pretty good candidate for Liara's unknown Asari father.

I though this right when she said it!

And the aleena theory was a good catch!

Hell Veetor, the traumatized quarian, talks about Dark Energy when he's discussing the Collectors at the begining of the game. There are a few more subtle hints in other areas as well.

No Udina is Miranda's father.

I do think Aria being the Asari Wrex fought though would be interesting.

After EDI is hooked up to the Normandy by Joker. Go up to the cockpit and have a talk with the EDI. All the blocks she previously had are now gone. She also reminds Shepard that now she can feel and see, she is Normandy. This might mean either trouble in ME3 with EDI or that she will be a very useful tool.
