Ok, so Oghren is in, as well as Anders.

In the trailers i have seen a gaunt man with dark close cropped hair and trimmed goatee (for instance seen at 0.37 in the Awakening trailer), also seen wearing red armor during the Queen trailer. Probably a warrior, because he's seen using a mace and a shield in the trailer.

I have also seen a dark haired man (looks like some kind of pageboy hairstyle) with light armor and dual wield, so he's probably a rogue.

And there's also the female (possibly Templar, since she was wearing a templar armor) with reddish hair parted in the middle, also seen with a sword and a shield behind the warden in the Anders trailer. So, also a warrior.

So, that leaves one companion, probably another mage to balance things up, or maybe a rogue...

What have you seen?

From what I see in the trailer I'm thinking besides Oghren and Anders there is a Human Male Rogue, Elf Female Mage, and Male Warrior; a Qunari possibly. It could have just been the angle of the shot but he seemed tall but he doesn't have white hair so he could just be another human.

A female heavy armored and helmed warrior probably, sword and shield, if memory serves, in Anders' trailer, before he says "I didn't do it"

I'd give my lunch if the elf mage would be Fiona. Sadly, it's sort of unlikely.

^ That would be incredible...and maybe the ghost to be Maric? We are asking too damn much for an expansion xD So let there be another sequel!

I would like to see a ROMANCABLE female elf (at least for my dalish playthrough). Make her a keeper for the novelty(we already have two apostates and one from the tower why not something really different?) Basically thats what I want, VERY different squad mates then what we had in the first oh and Leli to return for my Human noble.

Known...

Male Dwarf Warrior = Oghren
Male Human Mage = Anders

My guesses...

Female Elf Mage = the blond haired woman in the forest attacking the Wild Sylvans
Female Human Warrior = the Templar woman
Male Human Rogue = the dude in the medium red armour dual weapon style
Female Qunari Rogue = just guessing, seems likely to fill the slots

Was the "rogue" in red armor carrying a sword that looked alot like Spellweaver?

Perhaps an Arcane Warrior?

That is certainly the most versatile class if you were designing characters with limited numbers that had to fill alot of roles...

Of course, I may feel slightly catty and competitive with him... unless he gives me shiny things and has a sleazy European vibe!

EDIT: apparently catty works but the dog word doesn't Image IPB

I forgot all our companions will be level 20 or higher so I hope the last in an Arcane Warrior like Lakmoots suggested! I like what Krust posted for the line up(think it matches OP's) aside from the mystery of the last companion...or all of them but I doubt that. I think it is safe to assume that the Awakening trailer is just like the DA:O or any movie trailer in the since that they show you almost every main plot point & character in that 2 minute or less clip we just need to put the pieces together!

Wow what is with me with long rant posts today, sorry guys!!..& girls...lol. Anyways I hope our base assumptions are not correct 7 most of the companions are a complete surprise!

Some images I collected from Anders' vid. Sorry, got the timing wrong about the female companion

Image IPB

Possible female companion near the PC when Anders introduces. Considering Anders doesn't jump of joy or fear to see a known face in the video, and she is quite silent, my guess is that she is a new companion.

Image IPB

A party shot. Anders and Oghren being clearly visible. Third being a sword and shieldist, possibly the PC, and fourth a dual wielding heavy armored person. The quality might be making illusions, but all appear to be pretty male-ish. I could be very wrong. Will update when I get more pics.

Ok, so I got some new screenies, I count 4 companions without counting Oghren. A dual wieling male, a sword and shield male, a sword and shield female and Anders. 5th one is still opened for me. Although, not all could REALLY be companions.

Image IPB
Oghren, Anders, Dual wielder (here in light armor, in some he's wearing a heavy armor), PC

Image IPB
PC (he's the second kind of the PC, as seen in the mage vs sylvan short piece of video, at least that's my guess), Sword and Shield man, Anders and "below" him, Oghren.

Image IPB
Oghren, PC (I guess), Anders and another one, my guess being the dual wielder, with his standard heavy armor.

Image IPB
PC, Oghren, Dual wielder (now clearly visible in face) and Anders.

Image IPB
Same shot, different characters... or almost.
Dual Wielder, sword and Shield guy, Anders and PC.

Image IPB
Same characters as the picture above, at least I guess.

Image IPB
Picture of a dwarf and possibly the PC. The dwarf seems like Oghren wearing the Legion of the dead armor, while the PC the Juggernaut armor.

And that's all I took from the trailers.
Also, I have no idea what the last NPC could be. My guess is female mage.

Oghren's hairs not that red is it? The female warrior looks also like Liliana.

I think Oghren has unique hair color as well as unique hairstyle and beard, although I may agree that on the trailers he has some new kind of color. More intense red.

IF he has a new color and if he's really Oghren, then we might as well conclude that BioWare remodeled Oghren and therefore making him have another reason to be in the expansion. Why should they add more work on a character that shouldn't be present.

Note : remodeled I mean just changed hair color.

When i saw these pictures i was like "wow oghren is sure everywhere!". what makes me more suprised is that bioware did not say "yes, oghren is returning" but they said "an old favourite will return". Why show Oghren all over, but not confirm?

Another female companion would be nice. Especially if they add romance.

That last picture is likely Anders as well. From the front it looks like he has the tied back Duncan style hair ... so it would look like that from the back.

Well if we exclude the blond haired woman in the forest attacking the Wild Sylvans in1st trailer we can notice that they are hiding us female companions in trailers.. while they are giving use more images of male companions... Will it be only a coincidence or will they going to do this for some reasons ????

I heartily approve of that division, but my gut tells me that the distribution will most likely be a proportional repeat of the core game: 1 mage, 1 rogue and 4 warriors/warrior-esque creatures.

Consequently my guesses are:

Male Dwarf Warrior (Oghren)
Male Human Mage (Anders)
Male Human Rogue - dual-wielding (guess: a pragmatic reformed ne'er-do-well)
Male Human Warrior - sword & board (guess: a do-gooder)
Female Human Warrior - Templar (guess: zealot, but with redeeming features since the female lead)
Top-secret 'Warrior' of a non-playable race (e.g. werewolf, darkspawn, undead)

@Dark-lauren, thanks for posting those images. Very insightful and interesting.

The first new character is Anders the human male mage.

The second new character seems to be the dual wielding human rogue.

Along with Oghren and the PC, they seem to comprise the bulk of the four choices we see onscreen. Note that they are all male.

The third new character might well be the female Templar warrior with black hair. The one scolding Anders in his video.

The fourth new character (I think) is the blonde female mage seen blasting two Wild Sylvans in the first game trailer.

The fifth we still don't know about, but a female Qunari Rogue makes the most sense (in terms of variety).

Assuming the above is correct, that would be three human companions and one from each of the other three races (dwarf, elf and qunari). Two warriors, two Rogues and two Mages. That seems about as good a mix as you can get.

I think Bioware may have some sort of DLC after Awakening that lets you get a Dragon into the party (a bit like the Stone Prisoner DLC).

I also imagine at some stage (in a future expansion) we might get a Darkspawn companion, which would be a neat twist.

I also wonder will we be allowed to choose a Qunari race if creating a new character this time in Awakening?

Dunno if you've ever played a female character, but Sten seems quite perturbed that there are female warriors in Ferelden.  Which leads me to believe there will never been Qunari female party members, unless it's a very unique individual.  I'd say it's unlikely given world lore though.

Is that a proportional representation of the first game though?

2 mages, 2 rogues, 3 warriors and Dog.

That would be 1.5 mages, 1.5 rogues, 2.25 warriors and 0.75 Dog. Image IPB

Also I think with the Dagger mechanics fixed and higher-level meaning more stat points (and thus possibly better armour) I think Rogues will actually be better 'fighters' than they were in first game. So I'm not sure I agree we will see four warrior companions. For starters the game only supports three melee weapon styles (and one of those is just as much Rogue as Warrior), and we have already seen so many warriors in the first game that I think they will try something different.

Consequently my guesses are:

Male Dwarf Warrior (Oghren)
Male Human Mage (Anders)
Male Human Rogue - dual-wielding (guess: a pragmatic reformed ne'er-do-well)
Male Human Warrior - sword & board (guess: a do-gooder)
Female Human Warrior - Templar (guess: zealot, but with redeeming features since the female lead)
Top-secret 'Warrior' of a non-playable race (e.g. werewolf, darkspawn, undead)

Could be. Although I could see Top Secret Characters being saved for future post-Awakening DLC.
