Consequently my guesses are:
Male Dwarf Warrior (Oghren)
Male Human Mage (Anders)
Male Human Rogue - dual-wielding (guess: a pragmatic reformed ne'er-do-well)
Male Human Warrior - sword & board (guess: a do-gooder)
Female Human Warrior - Templar (guess: zealot, but with redeeming features since the female lead)
Top-secret 'Warrior' of a non-playable race (e.g. werewolf, darkspawn, undead)

I think/hope there will be at least two femal, both of playable races, into new party

I agree, everytime I get the 'You're a women but dressed like a warrior speech.' Apparently the battlefield is not a women's 'place in the world'.Xaila wrote...

The fifth we still don't know about, but a female Qunari Rogue makes the most sense (in terms of variety).
Dunno if you've ever played a female character, but Sten seems quite perturbed that there are female warriors in Ferelden. Which leads me to believe there will never been Qunari female party members, unless it's a very unique individual. I'd say it's unlikely given world lore though.
I'm not a big fan of Oghren, but that may be because he is always the last person I recrute. My team is always 'perfect' by the time I get him, so I never take him with me after the Deep Roads. So it might be fun to have him as a companion since I never really used and talked to him.

- Anders (Human Mage)
- The Male warrior (?) with black air and grey armor
- The Male rogue (?) with red short hair and red armor
- The Dwarf (Oghren?)
- The Femal rogue (elf? leliana?) in red armor
- The Femal mage with blond hair in 1 st trailer
Both if the dwarf is Oghain or that mysterious woman with heavy read armor is Leliana (I don't believe so!) we will have 5 new + 1 old...

Note: That is probably the big reason why they showed that women with a helmet on in the Anders trailer. Now we won't know for sure.

Is that a proportional representation of the first game though?
2 mages, 2 rogues, 3 warriors and Dog.
That would be 1.5 mages, 1.5 rogues, 2.25 warriors and 0.75 Dog.
Also I think with the Dagger mechanics fixed and higher-level meaning more stat points (and thus possibly better armour) I think Rogues will actually be better 'fighters' than they were in first game. So I'm not sure I agree we will see four warrior companions. For starters the game only supports three melee weapon styles (and one of those is just as much Rogue as Warrior), and we have already seen so many warriors in the first game that I think they will try something different.
With Shale and the secret character it's 2, 2, 4 and 2 pseudo warriory-things...
Though a werewolf would handily fulfill that 0.something of a dog!
Not to be a pessimist, but I don't believe that the warrior/melee slant of the core campaign has anything to do with class balance (2H weapons certainly couldn't have ever looked like requiring 2 specialists in a character pool of 10) - obviously the designers just like writing warrior types (very well in fact) and designing warrior guy (exhibits A-Z: every DLC & special acquisition item), or they simply feel that staying true the Dragon Age world confines character classes somewhat.

And rather crucially: female = not a warrior.
Certainly the end result is very true to the Dragon Age world, but unless the rules bend a little (particularly regarding female characters) or the new Grey Wardens chapter is full of peasants... most of the basic character archetypes point directly to warriors, warriors and more warriors.

Has anyone yet to consider that the mage from the first trailer and the "warrior" in red armor in the anders trailer are the same. After all that IS a female elf mage with the sylvans AND arcane warriors came from ancient mage elves. So her default spec could be arcane warrior, much like morrigan's shapeshifter and wynne's spirit healer.
Note: That is probably the big reason why they showed that women with a helmet on in the Anders trailer. Now we won't know for sure.
If you are right we have 5 of 6 new companions... Assuming they won't spoiler who is the retourning one and that the dwarf is not Oghren...we have to assume that the missing one is the old favourite retourning....
So we saw... 4 male and 1 female
2 warriors, (the dwarf and the black-haired warrior)
2 mages (anders and the elf mage)
and 1 rogue (the short brown/red haired with red armor)
The missing companion should be then a female rogue... And who was the only female rogue from DAO campaign ?!

When i saw these pictures i was like "wow oghren is sure everywhere!". what makes me more suprised is that bioware did not say "yes, oghren is returning" but they said "an old favourite will return". Why show Oghren all over, but not confirm?
I agree it makes no sense to have an Oghren looking drarf in all those clips and then not confirm that Oghren is the returning favorite. My guess is that this is not Oghren and that the returning favorite is still a mystery. My vote is still going for Zevran.

I would like so much that returning companion would be Leliana... I already promised that if she's the one returning companion , I will go into a pub and I will drink beer all night long, drink offering to all people into that pub too !!! Beer for everyone !!!
But I don't wanna be high disappointed, so I prefer to not hope this, and just think that...yes, that dwarf is Oghren, and he is the returning companion...

Isn't this one the same generic Warden they used for the trailers of Origins? I may be wrong, but in 'The Children' trailer, he seems like him

No, I can bet you that won't happen. It's next to impossible to implant companions post release... well... and do them even remote justice.
It was only possible to make shale a DLC because so the majority of her voice acting was recorded along with everyone elses. Even then they said it was very tricky.
I am thinking that one of the five is gonna be a secret type character. A surprise of sorts. I sure hope it's something off the wall, a werewolf or demon would be awesome! Always wanted a demon companion after playing Warden's Keep.

Bioware is very very very wierd like that. Everyone new legion was a companion long long long long long before bioware acknoweleged it.
it's simple why they do it... they know that every character has a fan base and that much of that fan base will be PISSED when they find out it's Oghren. Longer they put it off the less flaming. i think they learned how much news like this can take over a forum aka Wrex. However, if they put it off till the last moment, they avoid flaming, and the game can speak for its self. And if they do Oghren justice, make him deeper, ect... then the maybe a bunch of haters will be silenced and like him.
However, if its NOT Oghren, then they just went and pissed off all the Oghren fans. Their not gonna dangle him infront of his own fans, ****** off those who think it's him, then ****** off Oghren fans. No, he's in allot of videos, every trailer so far... I think that says it all.
Smart move on their part.
But like I said, heres to hoping one character is off the wall! Something that can compete with a bird hating Golemn.

I never recruited Sten, nor played as a female character...at least not yet.
I'd like a qunari babe...hope we see one, if not in this expansion then at a later date.

Oh god, I hope not, well... I suppose she could be pretty bad @**. I just hope she isn't romancible given how Sten described Qunari sex. Plus lets do the female sex some justice... they don't need to be weakling rogues and mages!
OUCH!

True but the heroes are meant to be heroic characters, not basic characters.
Still, it shall be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Unless of course the DLC is being developed alongside Awakening and they just haven't announced it yet.

Or it could be a Dragon and thus not require much voice acting, if any.

1. God, lets hope not, this will ****** off HORDES of people, including me. This is pretty much saying, hey buy are expansion back... and then pay us an extra five dollars for everything. It's what people accused Warden's Keep of being, although I honestly beleave Warden's Keep was developed after they couldn't put it in the game. However, many people feared it was a cheap marketing gimmick to suck more cash outta us, if this is the case, it will raise hell and really really really sulley biowares rep.
2. Nope, because what kept dog from being too shallow was how much he interacted with the rest of the party. The dragon it's self could be easily implanted as a DLC, but the companion interaction that makes the game so special in many eyes would be missing, as you would need to edit so much of the game to add in conversations ontop of needed to recruit all the voice actors.
3. THIS! This would be awesome.

It wasn't a double post, it was a reply to two different posts. Both of which I had to break down by points.

I have no problem with Bioware doing something like this. What people have to accept is that DLC is optional, just like buying yourself a cup of coffee...is optional. If you get addicted to the caffeine, thats your problem.

Thats a pretty big assumption. Considering Alistaor and Loghain are total opposits and Anders is pretty much as far away from Loghain as you could possibly get, I don't see the problem even if this WAS the case (and I don't beleave it is.)
