<_< These are the only two gripes I have with Mass Effect 2 so I would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

  • Tali and not seeing her face:
I have read both complaints on not seeing her face and people voicing not wanting to see her face.  I guess in my opinion this really kills the whole idea of being able to be in a relationship with her.  Throughout the entire game we are made to feel like we're Shepard.  The choices we make, the things we choose to say or do, the entire game is setup to make us feel like we are this character.  Clearly there are moments for each of us where we felt an emotional investment into this game.  The culmination for me was right when Shepard was going to take Tali's mask off so we could finally see him and Tali truly embrace.  So you can imagine my disappointment when the camera cuts away to just show Shepard's reaction (which didn't really even have a reaction).  This was the only moment in the entire game where I felt like I was back to being the player instead of the character.  And that is my entire point why you just can't do that in a game like this.  It's fine in say the game Halo, because Master Chief is his own character and you are just controlling him.  So whether we see his face or not isn't a character driven thing, it's whether the writer wants to share that with us or not.  But in Mass Effect 2 where we are made to be the character, see what he/she sees, choose what he/she says, pick what he/she does, pulling away at an emotional moment doesn't just make no sense, it screws with the players expectations of the game you built.  So in my view, if we don't get the chance to experience everything with Tali as the character experiences it, then she shouldn't be an option to begin with.  So I do truly hope this gets corrected in DLC or ME3!  Thinking about it this way from a character perspective, what do you guys think?

  • The Cuddle scene at the end of the game:
So I will admit, this is picky...but noticable.  I will also admit, it may be picky due to being in the video game business myself.  So this is also why I would be interested in hearing your opinions.  Instead of reading my explanation; just check out this short video a friend put together for me:

  Thanks for reading!

The animation on the seat I can understand your issue with, but I don't have any problem at all with Shepard having his eyes closed while cuddling on the bed. They're resting together, it's sweet.

Yeah clipping aside, it's fine, if a little too intense when sitting.

Great first point. I was really disappointed too.

Since people were interested in Tali without ever seeing her face, letting you do so would be foolish.

And the other issue is with custom Shepards. It happens. If it bugs you, play with the default Shepaloo.

I saw it coming once I knew she was an option I figured we would not see it till ME3.

Hell we may never see it.

Okay yes...him being asleep could be debatable, but the clipping between the models are just killing me.  Their heads and legs/thighs are becoming one as his fingers go in and out of her arm.  I guess I also felt like this was a missed moment to show her face.  I dunno...like I said, love the game...these are just the two things that I felt were missed.

I doubt we'll ever see it. At this point Bioware can not win. There's no way they'd get away with showing her face, because anything they come up with will be ripped to shreds. Too many people have too many seperate ideals of how Tali should look.

But it's not with the custom Shepard, it's with the love interests model.  His fingers are going into her arm and we don't change his arm length.

i do agree.

not seeing Tali's face is my own little grip in ME2.

i do really hope to see her face in either the DLC or in ME3.

and i agree, in that one moment, i was pulled out of hte game when i couldn't see her face but my ingame Shepherd could.

Not showing us her face was a bit of a mistake on BioWare's part. Really, what good reason could there be to not show it? All they have to do is make it human like and pretty, not that hard.

I guess I don't have those kinds of expectations.  If they can come up with the Asari I don't think I would be disapointed with their choice when it comes to Tali.  I guess I just wanted that emotional pay off and got a tad bit miffed when I didn't get it.

They could even have based it on Liz Sroka's real face and that'd have been plenty good enough. They need to give her glowing eyes though.

Same reason why they don't show us female turians: every time they show something new, it requires a new character model to be designed. We're lucky we even got male quarians this time around. Kind of sad that we'll never see female krogan or salarians (and were pretty much assured as much on the former in ME2). Funny that the social organization of alien cultures in the Mass Effect universe owes so much to development time and budgets.

I think they should pull a south park kenny moment. Like WIth the Jeffersons episode, where you see Kenny, but it isn't known to be kenny till after he's dead.  They should just have a Quarian, being shown for a brief second, and then later you find out it was Tali. Image IPBImage IPB

But I get what you're saying man. I wasn't too disapointed not seeing Tali, means she still has some mystery about her, not seeing her face and all. So I can be optimistic Bioware will do the fans of Tali a solid, well the fans that wish to see her, a solid and let us see her face. If anything, I kinda wish they had it to where you can't be with Tali in an intimate way till the third game, that way it all builds up then as a reward for remaining faithful to her, they let you see Tali fullly. Image IPB But I'm fine with how they went with it in ME2. Here's to hoping if you have to choose between your ME1 LI and your new LI Tali (for those that picked her) in ME2, and say you pick Tali, your reward is seeing her face at the very least.Image IPB

This. Undoubtedly, this.

I REALLY want to see what Quarians look like. Even if something causes us to, though, I don't really think I actually want to see Tali. Seriously, I'm sure that at least half of the entire ME fandom (not just Tali-fanatics) will b**** about it.

Bioware wants to keep the playerbase happy.

Clearly they are saving her face for ME3. If they already showed it, you wouldn't have as much to look forward too!

Agreed with both your post and the post you quoted. On this topic, bioware have really painted themselves into a corner - they've somehow created a rabid fan base for Tali whilst not letting you see her face - ANY reveal of her face would probably divide that base (including me :D) between people who like what they came up with and people don't like it.

That said, I can see what you mean in this post and the OP. Basically, Bioware are going to get bashed whatever they do

Tali only works because she has Dr. Doom syndrome, ie you never see their face. I love her personality and she's a great Character and look forward to seeing her in the 3rd game. Why is everyone so interested anyway? See I know we're going to get posts "WHY DID YOU MAKE TALI SO UGLY!" and "YOU RUINED THE TALI ROMANCE BECAUSE SHE"S SO UGLY!" to which I reply "If you are worried about what she looks like, then you shouldn't have romanced her to begin with."

i'm not worried about what she'll look like. in fact i've always thought that they may have some sort of scale like texture to their face (since Legion says that Rannoch is more arid than Earth).

even if it's silky smooth with some funky color that'd be fine as well.

the mystery is getting overrated, and i for one am not worried what she'd look like. Just seems like one of those things that if you fell in love with the character you oguht to see what they look like as well.

I mean i'm hearing people fell in love with Miranda because she has a great face and ass.. and i'm saying i fell in love with the character for her quirkyness and being the ultimate the strong but flustered when intimate smart chick.

That's why i'd love to see her face, it'd be a perfect perfect... perfect way to reward those player who fell in love with the character.

in fact, Bioware only has to do is make the character's face attractive to keep most fans happy.

Instead of Tali's face, why not a DLC with another Quarians face somewhere? That way we get an idea of how she might look from their PoV - without ruining our own ideas of how she looks.
