Really I am just looking for more female hair options, like Kelly's hair or Miranda's. I haven't had much luck finding a way to do this however. I would love Miranda's hair since I spent so much time having my femshep look like me, and since I have Miranda's hair cut (in ash blond) it would be awesome. Any one ever hear about this being a possibility?

ME2 is pretty mod proof apparently, a bit like ME1. Quite disappointing when you consider that Oblivion and FO3 are significantly improved by user made content and it's not like it costs the devs anything to let it happen.

I wonder why? Is it the coding that makes changed difficult? I really liked the cute short hair styles as well, looking like chakwas freaks me out a bit lol.

It is difficult because they didn't take pains to allow it to be modded. Oblivion, DA:O, and FO3 are made specifically for mods: they have toolkits, and even without the toolkits they allow the use of override folders so that users can add files that the engine will use to replace the ones that came with the game. It also requires that a lot of things be coded in a more modular fashion, using things like 2da tables to look up information instead of simply hardcoding stuff.

Bioware wanted to tell a specific story with ME, and taking the extra effort to allow modding would have not only been more difficult, but it would have undermined the goal of the game. It would allow people to create scenarios that are vastly different from the story that Bioware intended to tell, which would detract from the story that they created.

I'm fine with ME being un-moddable.

They didn't release UED because people would make crappy mods with it. Its a sophisticated program, I use it so i would know. Believe me there would be very few who could make quality mods with it, and even then it still takes a while.

How did any of the modules produced in NWN detract from the story...?

Can BioWare legally release a toolkit for another company's game engine?

I would think that it would be tricky to import saves which contained modded data. I'd imagine that they'd have to let you access the story manager program (which keeps track of your choices) in order to create new missions then they'd have to filter all of the saved information related to mods when importing the character.

Well that's a shame.

Mass Effect was never intended to have mod tools.

Unreal...Engine Designer? Developer? Can you clarify what UED is?

To be honest I've always wanted to have my custom Shep with long hair as a male or even shoulder lenth or a surferish cut. It's like long hair doesn't exists in future.

I think anybody who doubts what games modders can do needs to play more modded games. Granted in a game as well made as Mass Effect it'd be a challenge to improve it, but the beauty of mods is they are optional, you pick what you want for your game. Even really basic stuff like removable helmets on the DLC armours and so on would improve the game.

In recent years a few companies have been anti-modding to protect the market for DLC and I hope that Bioware don't go down that road.
