So I have activated my retail copy of ME2 on EA and was wondering if it was possible to add it to Steam via the product key instead of using the "Add Non-Steam Game" to list.

Thanks for any help.

I don't think so. Typically Steam will only offer patching and achievements to games purchased on their system.

I would love to add ME2 officially to Steam for a retail copy. IMHO it would work better then the crap we deal with now, and they could do it via a patch, like UT3 did. I use my UT3 with Steam 24/7 and it works much better, plus I get full achievements and patching. I like MW2 for that same reason. Patching, and achievements.

Plus they pop up on our screen to let us know about them, but also we can track them out of the games rather then booting ME2 up just to check them out.

I also hope that Bioware adds PhysX support for ME2 as the engine has those features built in for Nvidia cards, and it kinda sucks that this kick butt game dose not use them. UT3 also added those features via a patch and made some marked improvments because of it.

Just think of all the cool objects we could knock around in ME2 if we had PhysX support? Man we could even chip off parts of walls if the devs did it right and give us some major reasons to run for cover.

For the achievements side I probably would have preferred Games for Windows Live support. As I can then use my 360 Gamertag to add them to my collection. I'll be missing those 1000G's in both ME 1 and 2 unless I get the 360 version's of both.

Still, it what's done is done. I can't complain when this game is so good :)

There's no difference. You should be able to import your ME1 characters to ME2 regardless of where you bought each game from.

You can't activate ME1 or ME2 on Steam with a retail CD key. But you can import a Steam ME1 character in a retail ME2 game. I did that.

Yeah, you cannot activate it on steam, see their supported games list on their webpage. But you should be able to do it via EA download manager if you want a digital version but you bought physical version.
