How do I get Legion to survive WITHOUT being loyal?

I'm trying to get everyone out alive, crew included.  That means Legion isn't loyal.

I got everyone loyal (except Legion of course) and did all of the side missions.  I got all the ship upgrades and am missing one tech damage to have all my equipment upgraded.  I sent Tali through the vents and had Miranda lead the other party.  I sent Mordin back with the survivors and had Garrus lead the distraction team.  I had Grunt and Legion in my party the whole time.  When the reaper went down, I saved Legion from falling off the platform but he died after that.  I was pissed.  FFUUUUUUUUUUUUU--!!!

Anyone manage to get the crew AND comrades out safe?  Let me know.

On a side note, I wish that these forums had a search function like the old ones...

Try leaving him at the defense point where the other squadmates hold the line..

If that doesn't work you're SoL

From what I can gather, it's always been said that...

Loyal = survive.

Non-loyal = dead.

You can still make Legion loyal. Just make sure that his mission is the ONLY one you do after getting the IFF. You have to do two or three missions to have half your crew die.

put him in your squad and make sure he is not unconscious when you make the final blow on the human reaper thing

Having him escort would probably be the best option

Can you make non-loyals escort? I don't think so. Today mine weren't selectable but may be coincidence.

Non-loyal members in your actual combat party die. Basically if they aren't loyal, do not assign them to a mission or bring them in your squad.

My Miranda was not loyal and she lived. I just did nothing with her and everything was good.

I had my entire squad loyal, and I still lost Mordin when I was fighting the Reaper. He wasn't with me, was holding out with the others, I only found out on the retreat back to the ship.

Is the time you take to kill the Reaper relative to whether loyal teammates die while they're holding the Collectors off? Because I can't really see any other reason why he would have died. :S

I only went to the Citadel to buy an upgrade and half the crew died. How screwed up is that?

try escort or just don't do anything and leave him on defense if that doesn't work your screwed

my miranda wasn't loyal on my second time after i didn't have enough paragon/renegade to solve the arguement but she lived

any non loyal team member that fights the reaper dies and if they are assigned a role they also die so leave him and hope for the best

on a side note why didn't you do his loyalty mission tis awesome

That has nothing to do with it. If Legion is not loyal he will die.

@ gamebites I wanted to save all of the crew and all my comrades. On my first play through I didn't have the renegade/paragon to resolve the Miranda/Jack conflict and sided with Miranda. I didn't assign Jack to anything, she died. But I did do the Legion loyalty mission and it was pretty awesome. Made them all into Geth, not heretics. I also wanted to try to bring Legion to Tali's loyalty mission... I think I will do that next...

I'll try to not bring him nor assign him to anything... bloody mission drives me bananas. :)

You can bring Legion to Tali's loyalty mission, do Legion's loyalty mission, and save your entire crew and comrades.

For some reason, EDI didn't install the IFF right away and that let me do Legion's loyalty mission. Now it let me get everyone out alive. Mission success. :)

Err, why would you need to go there with Legion not loyal? You know, you've got time for two missions between the Reaper IFF and the crew abduction. Like MagicianCamille said.

I had a situation where my Thane was the only unloyal member. I tried most combinations and he died every time. Either go back to an earlier save or be prepared to go through the suicide mission an awful lot to experiment.

You had Grunt and Legion with you for the endgame squad? If so then Grunt should've been the one to almost fall off the platform. I found that of the two squadmates you choose the one on the right of the character selection screen always seems to fall off the platform.

Still, either one will die unless they are loyal. You should still have time to visit the heretic base and get Legion loyal before the crew is abducted. You have to go straight there though, no side trips or anything. Get him loyal and then right afterwards the crew is abducted and you go after them to save them and we all know the rest...

Right after you recruited Legion, you can talk to him and get his loyalty mission.

Go straight to the galaxy map and do the mission. Right after that your crew will get kidnap.

You have plenty of time to get Legion loyal. I've never played through without him being loyal.

Another possibility is to have him escort the crew back to the Normandy.

Not true.

I finished the IFF mission, then immediately went to the Heretic Station, did the mission, then ran back and went through the Omega 4 relay. I did nothing else in between.

Half the crew still died.

I don't suppose playing on veteran affected that but who knows. Half still died.
