I feel badly ripped off.

I pre-ordered a collector's edition two weeks ago, and it's only now just arrived, days late.

AND, there's no nice shiny tin - it's just in a bog-standard plastic sleeve.

AND, there's no cloth map.  nada.  nothing.

I paid double for this compared to what I could have bought a digital edition for.

How is this collectable?  It's just a rip-off.  The website

http://dragonage.bio...rdercollectors/

says I should have got these things in the collector's edition.  False advertising!  Lies!

Please Bioware and EA make sure I get what I've paid for!

Who did you buy it from? Was it from the EA store? If not, get mad at the vendor, not EA or Bioware.

I bought it anyway cos i felt flush but there really is no major reason to get it if you live in the UK. Downloadable rings, armour and Staves do not a collectors edition make.

I just wish the publishers would chant that mantra the next time round.

I'm in Australia. It looks like an "official" crap plastic case, so I think it's the publisher's fault, NOT the vendor's fault.

But of course I've asked the vendor to send me the map and metal case as advertised. Not that I'm expecting much joy, because they'll say it's not their fault!

I was looking forward to getting this game, and now I'm just annoyed.

Australia does have consumer protection laws and a Commission for dealing with "Misleading & deceptive conduct"... Maybe that is the way to go.

There is a process to go through, and it start with asking the vendor first.

If the vendor you purchased this from are respectable, they should refund the difference between normal and collector's edition, if they truly did advertise the cloth and tin case.

You only got the Steel Case and Cloth Map if you pre-ordered it from EB in Australia, everyone else had the plastic case version.

Well, if you only want a shiny case and a cloth map, by all means, don't spend the extra on the collector's edition, it isn't worth it for the shinies. But, IMO, it's definitely worth the extra cost for the DLC. (Shale and Blood Dragon Armor yo!)

Did you buy it from the EA Store or a third party vendor?  Whoever you bought it from owes you the missing content.

Got the US version here, walked into the store. Case was the size of a normal dvd thin case, but it was Metal within the plastic sleeve. Map was in there, so was the bonus video CD.

Are you sure you were not sent the incorrect one by your vendor? Because it sounds like it is.

Take it up with official customer service channels at Bioware or EA, also with the Vendor. ****ing on a Forum will get you no where, except for a place for you to vent to.

Here's a progress report.

The situation and status is:
  • The Collector's Edition is advertised on the official DAO global website as containing a cloth map and metal case.  This is clearly a global website, not a US website - it serves the same product information to everyone in the world.
  • There is no indication on the official global website that there is a "US edition" or an "Australian edition" of the Collector's Edition.
  • I pre-oreder the "Collector's Edition" from a Australian online retailer, and so only had the name of the product to go by when I ordered.  I fully expected to receive a cloth map and metal case.
  • The retailer says they can't give me a cloth map and metal case because they're not included in the Australian edition of the Collector's Edition.
  • I raised a support ticket with EA, and haven't had a reply for more than a week.  (Apart from the auto-responder saying I should expect a reply in 24 hours!)
  • The information provided on EA's official global website for DAO constitutes misleading advertising, which is illegal under Australian law (Trade Practices Act).  The EA Australia website links to the official global website for DAO to provide product information.
  • I sent an email to EA Australia's support, and they replied that it was "not uncommon" for Australian editions to differ from the US version.  That's OK if it's advertised, but in this case it wasn't.  A pattern of illegal activity doesn't make it legal - it only makes the illegal activity more serious.
  • I am giving EA Australia two weeks to respond satisfactorily, or else I'll be seeking legal redress against the retailer, and also reporting EA Australia's pattern of illegal activity to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and also to the state authorities in a formal complaint.
I think it would be easier for everyone if EA just sent me the cloth map and metal case that I paid for!

It depends - did you buy it expecting a metal case because of misleading advertising on EA's website?  If so, then are you annoyed enough to complain about it?

Personally, I would have been surprised but not at all annoyed if I had been sent a nice wooden box instead of a metal case, especially if I also got the cloth map that was advertised.  But, what I got was a cheap plastic case, and no cloth map, so I am annoyed...

You paid for a collector's edition without tin case or map. You did NOT pay for a collector's edition with tin case or map.

You acknowledged that your collector's edition will have no tin case or map when you purchased it on your retailer's website, which does not advertise its collector's edition the same as the collector's edition with tin case or map. By not reading the description of the product on your retailer's page and purchasing the good, you are responsible for the purchase of the product under the assumption of possessing the knowledge concerning the product's details.

While a refund should be possible in some cases, for you there is no possibility of a refund. It appears you have already registered the game with the package you have bought. It'd be a good idea to give up hopes of getting a refund or replacement. EA is not responsible for your knowledge and decision of purchasing a collector's edition without tin and map when information was provided.

I bouth my CE at Best Buy and when I recieved it, the case was busted open, the map taken. And the prized 'metal case' no longer closes. GG BioWare.

It only shows how little you know when you blame the developer and publisher of a game when the fault is on the delivery personnel, the retailer or even yourself in some cases.

You're wrong there.  There is only one "Collector's Edition" identified and described on the global website.  It includes a tin case and cloth map.

I did not acknowldge that when I bought it.  I read the description, which identified it as the "Collector's Edition".  The official global website describes that as including a cloth map and metal case.

EA is indeed responsible for the misleading advertising on their website.  Their website is how I acquired knowledge of the product.  I don't really want a refund - I just want the cloth map and metal case that I paid for...

GG BioWare? get mad with the reseller ffs! it's BestBuy's fault!

I have bought 1 normal edition and 2 collector's editions, one from UK and one from Italy, well in the normal Italian one there were shale and blood dragon armor codes and it was intact (besides a lil scratch on the plastic case, nothing worth of trouble), the 2 collectors (one was a gift for a friend) were BOTH Tin Cases with semitrasparent plastic cover (nicely made indeed!) and both with everything inside..

BioWare made them great, if you've got missing stuff or else, deal with your resaler!
