Also an unfortunate oversight is that despite my character being black, my parents (using the Human Warrior origin) and sibling are still white. I figure they could at least have done something like Fallout 3 in this respect and have perhaps 3 sets of "parents" depending on what race you chose. (No need for 3 voice sets, just different models).

Or we could view it as an issue of the races that actually exist in the game world. God forbid that a game world is created without high-melanin content!
Yeah, but most fantasy worlds treat people of color like they don't even exist. And when they do they are always the "bad" guys. (Dark Elves).

It takes a bit of work but you can do it. You just have to concentrate on the basic face shape. Hair is another matter entirely.. they seem to dislike curly hair in most games that have some face gen. All I know is these mideval type realms must have discovered hair relaxer at an early stage of evolution.

Dark elves tend to be some shade of blue? How many black people do you know that are blue? Or have pointy ears?
And there is a pretty good option available in the human presets, I would just go from there.

Or like most mideval type realms, they are based on mideval times. That is, Europe. Europe in those times was entirely caucasian.

I noticed it too Elkston. Sure, you can manipulate the face, but the skin colors and hairstyles kinda stink.

But joking aside for now. I think you could make a black char on 360. I looked through all the skin colors and tones and there were - in my opinion/if my memory serves right - options for that also. Feel free to correct me
