There is nothing wrong with this. I am not sure why people are having a hard problem seeing this.

This is not a basic "human" association. This is a culturally deteremined inclination. Your ignorance is shameful.
Humans rely mostly on eyesight, it's their strongest and most developed sense. So for a human, darkness means the cancellation of his most developed sense, whereas light lets him use it. Therefore, darkness has always been considered bad and light, good. Don't use words like 'ignorance' and 'shameful' when you don't even know what you're talking about.
In china, white is associated with death rather than black. It IS culturally determined.
