Is there a chance that there will be a patch for Dragon Age's font sizes? I'm playing the game on a 19" TFT, 1280x1024, but I'm thinking hard about switching back to 1024x768. I had to do this too, with Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. My eyesight is quite poor, and while I can read the running text (Journal, item descriptions), it is very tiring. Switching back to 1024x768 makes the text bigger, but of course makes the game somewhat blurry.
Dragon Age seems to use point 8 fonts. Increasing the fonts for running text to point 10 or 11 would help tremendously. (It did in Neverwinter Nights 1; Neverwinter Nights 2 was never officially patched, but there's a "big font gui" mod.)

On 24" screen with 1900x1200 it get's even worse... it would be nice to have an option to increase the font size.

Yes, running at 1920x1200, the standard resolution for widescreen monitors which are abundant among gamers, the font size is *way* too small.

I agree with this statement. People who play on an HDTV need a font size option now and in future Bioware games! Take care of your fans!

What to think of the trend to use higher and higher resolutions?
A 19" 1280x1024 screen has a large dotpitch, and the fonts are very small (bit smaller than point 8, bit larger than point 7). It will be unworkable when using a new 21.3" 1920x1080 screen. The dotpitch is a LOT smaller than the one on a 19" screen.
And I haven't even started about notebooks with 1280x800 @ 13", or 1680x1050 at 14.1 or 15.4 inch...
This mistake was made in Neverwinter Nights 1. (Patched with a larger font, but it enlarged just about 10%. The mistake was made again in Neverwinter Nights 2, and now in Dragon Age.
Stuff such as headers (screen/dialog names) are fine now. The fonts that need to be enlarged are (on top of my head, I might miss some):
Item descriptions, Journal entries, conversation choices (summary: all running text, large pieces to read. Only thing that happens will be a longer scroll bar.) Also monster names above their heads and such need to be larger.

Oh, and this counts for this website too. The fonts are on the edge of usabel (for me), and enlarging them causes the whole layout "explode". The fonts in Dragon Age on a 19" 1280x1024 TFT are even smaller than the ones on this site.
Inside the game, a fontsize of 10 points at 19" 1280x1024 is the absolute required minimum IMHO, and even then it's straining. 11 points is OK, and from 12 points onward, it gets comfortable to read, even for quite heavily visually impaired people like me.

Agreed: increasing the scale of the fonts and/or of the whole interface would be a welcomed addition (I play at 1920x1200)

Totally agree with all posts. Its amazing, that Dev's dont include a scalable font per user option. Is it so hard to include into the game? I don't think so. I'm no developer, but it sure seems doable.

Im playing on a 22" 1680x1050, and while it's readable, it strains the eyes quite a lot.
Come on guys, while this might cause some alignment issues, it's still better than having to get really close to the screen to read everything.
And lowering the resolution below native on an LCD monitor just makes everything look smeared.

Yeah, at the very least the Quick Tip font (in the bottom right corner) and context pop-ups need enlarged. I don't even read those cause it strains the eyes too much. I'm playing on 1680x1050.

Like the previous reply, going to a lower resolution is no resolution to this problem. Im playing on 22" 1920x1080 WS. Graphics are great. Fonts not so much

1400x900 on a 19 inch widescreen, game looks great, everything is readable. My only problem video-wise is that for some reason cups (or chalices to be specific) just look silver with the room's lighting playing off them. No textures, or so it seems, for the ultra-shiny cups are appearing, anyone else getting this?

I play on a 47" at 1080p, but I have to sit on the floor, because the couch is just too far back. Even then it can be too small. I can't believe Bioware hadn't considered people w/ poor eyesight.

And im assuming there is no hidden setting for this in any of thegame's ini files?

I would like that to, and the more people react to this the more it stands out
1920x1200 on 24" = painful on the eye

Took a look into the ini files. I saw no entries or lines referring to fonts. So sad. Please address this minor (major to some) issue, Bioware.

You got my vote on this, it definitely is tiresome to read in the codex. As I'm playing in 1680x1050 I can only imagine how bad it is for you guys with the 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution. O_o

I'm also voting on this. My eyesight it not that great so I have to be hunched over my desk which g ets tiring very fast and even then I have to strain.
I'm on a 22" in 1680x1050.
I don't want to lose on visual quality because the interface can't be scaled!

As said before, this problem occurred with Neverwinter Nights 1. (There, it got slightly resolved with a setting that enlarges the fonts about 10%). The problem occured again in Neverwinter Nights 2. It has been occurring in many, MANY other games too. Interfaces and fonts are not scaled. I find this unforgivable, in 2009, where we're having 21 inch 1920x1080 screens.
I've been trying to create a petition for this online, but it seems I'm not receiving the activation mail. The mail address is working as it should.

It seems the e-mail to one of my addresses wasn't getting through, although there isn't any spam filter activated. I've used another addres.
