Well, EDI gets control of the ship after the Collector's attack and take the crew. That's what the whole mission with Joker is about. Besides, there will most likely be a co-pilot, considering the fact that Joker is only human. At least, I hope there is a co-pilot! o_O I have big plans for Joker. >

JOKER: DO IT!

EDI: Very well. Self destruct in 10...9...8...7...

SHEPARD: JOKER!!! NO!!

The Normandy flies right into the Reaper ship.

EDI: 3...2...1...

The self-destruct protocol activates blowing up the Normandy and destroying the Reaper ship in the process.

SHEPARD: JOKER!!!!!!!!

So... They all die...? That's no good! O_O But it somehow doesn't seem like an unlikely ending. ¬_¬ DO NOT DO THIS BIOWARE!! YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO US!! >_<
I don't think Joker would do this though. Although, it does sound like an epic "wtf?!" ending to a Hollywood movie.

They better not go overly dramatic for ME3's ending! Bad enough about the Virmire thing

... though, killing off Shepard might be their way of stopping this particular saga (as in Sheps adventures), or stopping people from complaining that they're stopping that saga

Face it. Shepard have to die in ME3, or whoever else. There must be a "sacrifice" thingie. Otherwise there would be Mass Effect 4: after couple of years, super-ultra-robo-Shepard's kid have to fight super-ultra-uber-Reaper which has been hiding for centuries and waiting for the right moment to strike. Or fans would cry for next parts because ending of ME3 was this and that.
Gimme a break. I might stand "ultimate sacrifice" ending but it would has to be amazing. So, Bioware, if you must, pretty please, try not to f*ck it up...
