@Fenris: *laughs* Hey, Joker's tough. He can handle his life w/Vrolik's. No Mordin executions. He's Ella's favorite new crew-mate in ME2. She'd be bereft.

(Though, it was a tad awkward, since she was closest to Wrex in 1... genophage, adopted krogan almost-brother type... conflicted Shepard.)

As far as Joker having a girlfriend... Ella would start wearing the Kasumi dress around the ship to show him what he's missing by choosing someone else.

And probably schedule a lot of extra 'let's hit things' sparring practice.

And order more chocolate ice cream for the mess.

I like Mordin, too. I actually want him as an LI, for the lulz. But I reckon a lifetime of pain and having to be careful gets a bit drab after a while. I doubt he'd be any less tough if he didn't have his disease. In fact, without it, he could actually become a squadmate. An awesome engineer, or maybe infiltrator. 8D

But then again, that'd put him in danger. Nah. I'll just carry on using the other crewmembers as meatshields for my ****** Shepards.

@ Fenris - Aw, thanks for the tat support! My appointment can't come soon enough!

On the topic of curing Joker...I think Joker's Vrolik's adds another dimension to the character beyond the "snarky pilot." He just...wouldn't be the same without it. Not that I'm against curing him, of course...I'm just saying that it's part of what makes him Joker, and therefore, awesome. :D

Besides, if you cured Joker's Vrolik's...you'd take away my excuse to think creatively when it comes to jumping him in the chair...or the bed...or anywhere else, for that matter. ^-^

...Sky... You should always be creative when it comes to jumping him.

Besides, the disability has already made the man. I don't think it needs to be there, even as a dimension. I don't want to take care of Joker, I want to be with him as an equal.

I won't mind if the vrolik's stays. But he deserves a cure.

All very fair points. Joker does indeed deserve a cure and I wouldn't want anything less for him. I just can't help but think curing him might change him somehow...but I could be terribly, horribly wrong on that.  For his sake, I'd definitely hope so. I could never imagine being in his shoes, being someone who is disabled to the point where regular motion the rest of us take for granted is impossible. A good friend of mine is like that, and I've told her repeatedly that I can't imagine being her. She just shrugs it off, and says that it's a part of who she is, and she doesn't regret it one bit.

I guess I am all for a cure, but at the same time, I'm quite attached to him the way he is. He's the Joker we all have come to know and love, right? Gah, it's kind of hard to explain...but I know exactly what you're talking about, in any case.

Well, likewise, I get what you're talking about. Joker is Joker and we'd love him regardless, but we know him a certain way and wouldn't want him to change. Because if we change this aspect, then this other thing might change too.

Which is true, things might change. He might not be in pain any more. That's how I see it, and what I consider the most important. I have a form of rheumatism, which means I'm always experiencing a small level of pain or discomfort, which will escalate under certain conditions. Also, I've broken loads of bones. I don't want people I love to feel pain. I don't think anyone does. So I want a cure.

Besides, if he was offered a cure, I have no doubt he'd take it. Because he's self-aware. He knows that he is not his body, he is the collection of his thoughts, actions and desires.

Am I making any sense now?

You were making plenty of sense before, I guess it's my own ideas on the subject that were most confusing. Ha, great, I'm confusing myself.

In the end, I agree that if Joker were offered a cure he'd take it no questions asked, as he should. I bet if you could have a cure for your rheumatism, or if I could completely heal my back from an accident I had when I was 15, we'd take it in a heartbeat. I know what it's like to be in constant pain, but I also know what it's like to have to cope with it...and I'm at peace with that, you know? I wouldn't wish it on anyone, though, that's for sure.

Well, I'm "at peace" with my condition. It's treatable, but not curable, and I'm fine with that. But if there was a cure, I'd take it. I think Joker would too. It's not about being normal, or living longer, or even being healthy. I don't want to be normal, or live until an age where I can't take care of myself and I've never been interest in my health. But there are times when I just feel like it's enough, and I wish someone did say, "hey, look, made this for you, feel better," but Mordin only loves Joker, and is thusly not working on a cure for me yet. :|

The only thing about Joker's condition I wouldn't wanna change would be the limp. I don't know why, but I find it extremely sexy. I'm the same when I see House on TV. 8D

Come to think of it, House and Joker are kind of similar...both have a limp, both are cynical, but Joker strikes me as more optimistic.

Ok, I never meant to say Joker didn't need/want/deserve a cure. I just meant that Mordin not finding one was no reason to get rid of my favorite salarian mad scientist. :) Because, yes, while Vrolik's helped make Joker who he is, lack of pain and brittle bones? All good.

And I love Hugh Laurie. Just sayin', since he came up in conversation and all. It's the eyes. And the accent. Even when he's being House, part of my brain reminds me he's really british, and there's an accent hiding back there somewhere.... :D

eta:  And yes, the limp is hot.  It is a visible manifestation of personal determination to keep going regardless of physical/mental/pain-filled obstacles.

Jilly, you hit the nail right on the head regarding the limp. I also love Hugh Laurie. As an American, I love listening to him do interviews where you can hear his accent (I know accent is a relative term, lol). He does such a good job with the American accent in House.

I think Mordin's going to have his hands full with all us fans (and I say "fans" as the collective whole of all ME fans)...we all want him to cure Joker, Thane, and help us save the galaxy all at the same time. XD

Yep. I did it. For reals.

For serious Bioware. Joker LI. Pretty please with a (totally awesome) permanent bodily alteration on top? No pressure or anything. You know.

Wow. I actually found this in a search engine. Wow. You are COMMITTED!

I am impressed. That is awesome.

God, I hope they do this.

When Mordin talked about curing Jokers condition I just thought I hadn't hear it right. Was this only a joke of Bioware or a hint what could happen in ME3?
I would be happy for him if his condition could be cured or at least improved. But my Shep will love him anyway, if he gets cured or not in ME3. And if not, there is still fanfiction for afterwards.

And no - it doesn't seem that Joker is bald under his hat...

Hey guys, I remember I posted on this thread a couple times a long time ago but I haven't kept up with it so I will try again. So is it ok if I can post again?

My question is if say that we start getting more info about ME3 and you find out Joker is going to be a full LI, what would you think? What would you do?

Another question is how would you like the romance to develop through ME3 and how would you like it to start?

I don't have an answer to these qustions myself but I want to know what others thought.

So, anyways, I wanted to come back to show support since this is an LI I would definitely go with(and It would probably be the first human LI that I would like).

@Elian - I hope his hair is just hat shaped and or sweaty, i have to say im not digging it :(

@Evellinessa -

I would think... AWESOME! And i would probably create a new non kaidan faithful Shep

I would love it to start by it subtley becoming obvious that he had feelings toward me... maybe his acting a little awkward, stammering a little etc. Now, this would only come about from his realising what he felt for Shep after nearly losing her at the end of the game. It would gradually go to a confession.... and blossom from there.

Ohhh i hope they're at least considering it :( Do you think it'd all be set in stone by now? Story wise?

@ Eliantariel and Nam - I THOUGHT he wasn't wearing his hat in that scene, but my roommate told me I was crazy! I'm pretty sure it's got to be sweaty hat hair...but if that's it, I don't care. I love Joker!

@ Evelinessa - Welcome back! I remember reading your posts when I went through the thread before posting my first comment what, 20 pages back now...? Anyway, glad to have other faces back showing the Joker love! To answer your first question, I would squeal, jump up and down, and run around the house shouting "Yes! YES! YES!" As for the others, I still don't think I have quite figured out how I want the LI to play out in my fic...but as for the game, I'm not going to get my hopes up on any one scenario. What Nam has is pretty good though, and I can see that. I dunno, I guess I'm just crossing my fingers that it happens at all.

I think I read somewhere that Bioware said that they have the basic story done or something like that but I think I read that they knew where they wanted to take the story from the beginning but for the characters? I'm not sure how far along that is. We know that the game will be released in about a year from now and I don't know how long it would take them to do all the characters and if most of it is already done.

I can see Joker has a fairly strong possibility to be an LI. I think this because I don't think the romance would be that hard to add since we don't have to worry about him being a squadmate and Joker has a pretty good amount of support(judging by this thread) for becoming an LI. We all know Bioware listens to their fans and I wasn't here at the time but look what they did with Garrus and Tali. They made those two LIs because the fans wanted it(I don't know how big their fan following was though). And because he was with us for all three games we would be more attached to him then other potential new LIs. I don't want to get my hopes up too much though.

If I found out Joker was a romance option I would probably scramble to make a ME1/2 character before ME3 comes out that doesn't romance anybody so I can romance him.

First of all - welcome back Evellinessa :)

I think even if the main path of the story was set already before they started ME1 they can and will do changes if they think that will fit and/or look better and the fans may like it. And making Joker a LI shouldn't affect the main story (unless they plan something very special for him).

I am currently trying to make a playthrough on insanity and this Shep is reserved for Joker. If Joker will be really a LI in ME3 I would make several Sheps only for him. And if he happens to be "bi" I would also make my first maleshep only for him and play through ME1 and ME2 again to romance him.

As Namira already suggested I would like to see Joker becoming suddenly not anymore so selfconfident towards Shep and maybe trying to go out of her way but on the other way watching her close. I think it would be funny if EDI (and/or Dr. Chakwas) would slip a comment about his changed behaviour. A sex talk advice from Mordin to Joker (yes - this time not only to Shep but to Joker too because I like to see the crew/squadmates more talking to each other) would be funny, of course, Joker would be totally embarassed and deny everything. Maybe other squadmates/crew members would hit on that ("I heard you had an interesting talk with Mordin?").

I personally would like to have EDI as a mediator who could mention to Joker that Shep started to behave different to Jeff too.... This could help Joker to speak with Shep about his feelings but not in a too emotional way, more like:

Location: bridge or mess/kitchen

Jeff: Some people think we would make a great couple, you know.

Shep: Is that so? And how exactly are you thinking about this?

Jeff: Well the crew already thought I would go for EDI, so this is definitely an improvement, I would say.

Shep: Ah, well, fine then I think....

Jeff: So you are indeed interested?

Shep: Uh, what? Ahm, do you think this is the right place for this kind of talk?

Jeff: Would your cabin be more appropriate for this?

Shep: *mischievous look* Absolutely.

Jeff: so lets go....

But I trust Bioware to come with a more creative and very unique and Joker special way to solve this

I'd like for Shepard to be in the cockpit talking to Joker about the reapers invading Earth with a somber mood and a lot of anxiety and as she turns to leave he grabs her by the arm and says since things are looking so dire there's something he's always wanted to tell her...and he can look down and sadly say something about even if she never feels the same way about him, its just something he had to get off his chest in case they never get the chance again...and of course Shep feels the same way and ends up straddling him in his leather seat for nekkid sexy time ;)

Oooo! How about, Shepard is in the Lair of the Shadow Broker, watching the latest videos that have been uploaded. All of a sudden vids of Joker come on, showing him staring at Shep, looking at photos of her etc....

edit: Whoops, too many posts, sorry :(

I'd find my old twitter password and congratulate Seth Green.  'Cause he made a snide comment about getting stuck w/the computer in an interview for ME2.  :D

Another question is how would you like the romance to develop through ME3 and how would you like it to start?

Develop?  Lots of dialogue.  That's both BioWare's and Joker's strong suit.  Go with that.  Early development, since they've known each other for three games, there's no reason to follow the standard look-flirt-awkward like moment-'climax'-final battle scenario.  Not that DAO did that, which was awesome, but both ME games have.

As far as how it starts ...

Normandy cockpit, middle of the night, Shepard and Joker watching the stars go by as they fly to Omega for something-or-other after ME2:

"So, Shepard."

"Yes, Joker."

"I think saving your ass on the Collector Base kinda evens me out from the whole killing you thing the first time we ran into them, right?"

"Joker, you didn't kill me.  Told you to stop thinking like that.  Life's a crapshoot.  Glad I got a second chance."

"Yeah."  *Joker pauses awkwardly*  "Still, I saved your ass, right?"

"Several times.  Thank you."  *Shepard shifts in her seat to look at him*  "You got a point you're trying to make here, flyboy?"

"Wanna get a drink with me at Afterlife?  To celebrate the mutally not dead this time?"

*Shepard sits silently staring at him for a moment*

"Shepard?  You in there?"  *Joker fidgets nervously with his hat before trying to shrug off his nerves*  " Didn't think the suggestion of alcohol would break your brain."

"Did you just ask me out on a date, Joker?"

"I reserve the right to avoid answering that until you say yes or not."

"Sure."  *Shepard grins at him*

"Then, yes, I just asked you on a date.  And you said yes, so now you're stuck with me."

"Glad to hear it."  *Shepard gets up and approaches his chair, before bracing her hands on the chair arms and leaning in until her face is right in front of his.  "Took you long enough."

"Hey, timing's important."  *Joker tilts his head until the brim is far enough to the side to be out of the way as he leans up just enough to kiss her*

-- And then EDI probably interrupts so he can fly them through the asteroid field around Omega --
