Why do you guys think they decided to make Joker who he is, in terms of having a disability (not that his disability is WHO he is, just poorly worded)? What do you think made them decide to write joker as having brittle bone disease?

Sooo I think purpose of making Joker sick was to kind of emphasize his attachment with our commander and his loyalty and determination despite Vrolik's.
But it's my personal opinion so don't be harsh on me please.

Well one of my theory's is that they had some plot device they wanted to implement in ME2 and/or ME3. I don't know if it was in the original storyline but the level of Shepard's interaction with this pilot seams to going through some sort of development. Into what I'm not sure... hell for all I know hes been a Cerberus agent for some length of time and it was his job to follow her around and make sure she became what she is.

It could be as simple as the writer knew someone that suffered from the condition and wanted to prove that they can lead a normal life too.

Yea, if that was the reason he should have been an LI from the beginning of the game. Though not I will state that my preference would not be for him to be the one night stand like everyone else. Developed right he should have been slowly getting more romantic with Shepard more and more each game. Like he warms up to you in ME1 then as long as you don't 'do' someone else he opens more in ME2 and if you don't 'do' anyone in ME2 you get your pay off in ME3.
