I'm late to the party (again) but I just wanted to share my thoughts on what I would like for ME3. Of course we all support Shoker romance and I really think Bioware has left clues to that effect all over the first two. After ME1 when I got over the WOW WHAT A COOL ENDING factor, I started wondering...why Joker? I know he's awesome handsome funny sexxxy nommable etc...BUT why kill off the main character for an NPC? There isn't much of a precedent for that in other RPG/FPS. I don't remember Master Chief throwing himself into a planet's atmosphere to save his third rear gunner and Marcus Fenix never shot himself in the head to save Dom, no matter how good of buddies they were. I would have thought the logical person for you to die for at the end of ME1 would be whomever you chose as your LI. Makes sense right? Kaiden's trying to save the orphans down in engineering or Liara's going back to get her box of kittens. That makes sense. I know that Joker was the pilot and all, but I just always thought it was wierd to have you die for him (even though I would in RL). Remember, we are looking back at ME1 through the lens of ME2, where he had much more dialogue and we got to play as him for awhile. Before that, in ME1 he was a smart-ass pilot who got us out of some scrapes, yes, but I don't think at that point I would have died for him.

Sooooo....I think BW's got some big plans for Joker. Maybe he won't turn out to be a LI *shakes her fist at BW in warning* but I think he's going to be key in taking out the baddies at the end. Maybe he will fly whatever ship you have into the main thingy at the end, who knows? I always thought it would be so great that if he could be an option as an LI, that at the end you and he have decided to fly straight into trouble with guns blazing on a suicide run. If you chose him as an LI, the dialogue tree gives you the option whether to have him by your side or ordering him to eject and save himself. I think my Femshep would choose to have him save himself (because her days were numbered the day she was brought back from the dead) and would say something along the lines of "I may have the balls to take out half the Reapers in the galaxy, but I'm not strong enough to lose you."



Well, maybe somebody who's better at Fanfic can gussy up that bit of dialogue. I'm not that great at writing. Sorry for the wall of text, but I think the clues for Joker's role are out there.

Plus your thoughts on ME3 are very interesting indeed. I mean, I just jumped on the Mass Effect boat last month so a lot of the insight and whatnot I'm not all caught up with, but I from what I've been able to pick up in ME2, I can see where you're coming from.

Boy o boy would I love to be PC savvy and mod everything. Instead I have a dying xbox and an Apple laptop I have no idea how to work. Hooray for technology! (please people, don't tell me how easy Macbooks are to work, Koji-san is NOT hearing it)

Yeah, add in the +100 Plot Armor that Joker wears and you start to have your suspicions about his importance in ME3.  My husband played through ME2 and only got Mordin killed and I was like, "but who's going to cure Joker then?!  Kill anybody else but Mordinnnnn!!!"
