It is
And glad to see you stuck up for him in the who shouldnt be romancable thread
Someone in there, however arrogantly put, said something about Chakwas giving Shep a 'look after him' speech should they get together. Can you imagine
Not the first and not the last "who shouldnt be romancable" thread - and always the same lame "arguments"...
I should save everything in a word document and then for the next thread I only have to copy&paste my answer.
And we should always have the Joker motivational poster ready for posting (concerning Joker and EDI). I must say I like EDI - but the only squadmate who could seriously engage with her in a sort of relationship would be Legion.
I think that Chakwas would be happy if Shep and Joker would find together because she likes both very much. So, the "look after" speech would Joker get from her too - to look after Shep
There were several motivational poster put up in the first couple of pages of his thread. We should track them down and keep them at the ready. One was to put down the EDI/Joker thing and the other was to rebuke the pelvis-crushing argument. Anybody got time to read through the first 50 or so pages of this thread and help us out?

I 'll see what I can do. I'm already reading the whole thread as it is.

I know he says his legs but I believe his condition really affects all his bones. Though my theory is that his leg are probably at a greater risk because from holding up is entire body.
He says specifically in ME1 that his legs never calcified properly, even when he was born and that he can manage with crutches but a fall (or dancing) would be disastrous for him. It's not really until ME2 that you start to hear about other bones too ("Watch the arm" when you rescue him from the SR-1, "fractured my thumb" putting EDI on mute, and the worry over stress fractures after the Collector attack).
I kind of suspect that they only intended for him to be barely able to walk in ME1 then expanded that in ME2. It's not exactly a retcon, but it feels a little bit like one.

I'd have to do some research to find out more but I think Fenris knows someone with this condition. Maybe she will chime in before I get a better reply.
The thumb thing I'm sure is just Seth/Joker comedy.
I think the arm part might be the writers fixing a hole in the story, but thats only speculation not proof.

The actual condition Joker has affects all bones in the body, but perhaps part of the "modern medical science" he talked about in ME1 allowed his upper body to be stronger...so maybe his ribcage wouldn't crush so easily and kill him? I dunno, just a thought.

Or maybe Shep is pretty strong and that hurt. A lot. Without breaking any bones.
