The guy can barely hobble around under his own power without breaking a femur, and you all want to **** - I mean, uh, "romance" him?
Come on.
Yeah. Wouldn't it have been awesome if he'd gotten to do something really heroic, like help the ship's AI save the Normandy from Collectors while the rest of the crew was kidnapped? He'd have to avoid attacks and crawl through air ducts and stuff. And maybe the player could have even controlled him! That would have been awesome. Oh, and maybe he could have helped out at the end, and, like, shot some Collectors from the airlock! Man, he'd have been such a badass then.
Such a shame, really.
And maybe you should stop being an ignoramus, the point was that yeah in the first one he might have needed braces or crutches but in this one he did all that and didn't break any bones. Hell he didn't get broken ribs from recoil when firing the assault rifle at the end or have his arm broken in many places by holding shepard as he/she dangled from the Normandy (which by the way would do ALOT more damage then love making.)
You don't need to literally jump someones bones to...you know, jump their bones.
I would have thought (if a romance were introduced) that Shepard would know enough about Joker to take it slow and not hurt him, oh and the girl doesn't always have to be on top, there are plenty of positiions where he would have the advantage of not hurting himself.

Face it, some guys just like to come here to say stuff to irritate us. They have nothing meaningful to say, so they say he's too fragile - ironically most of these people romance Tali. How very ironic.

And one of those things is a determination to get it on.
People in far, far worse physical condition than Joker have found ways to have sex. We are a creative, horny species. If Joker and Shepard really want to have sex, they will find a way. They'll figure out something.

I'm just seriously, going to start ignoring them from now on.

Maybe it is jealousy - they cannot stand the awesome that is Joker and must besmirch him to make their hollow lives have some semblance of meaning then. *shakes head sadly*

But in a weird way, having Tali and Garrus as romance options make it MORE reasonable for Joker to be one too, from a purely health perspective. If Shep can figure out how to deal with totally alien anatomy and allergic reactions to sex, then I am certain that she can figure out how to have sex with a guy who's a member of her species who happens to require some extra care and caution. It's not like sex is going to cause anaphylactic shock or... well, whatever happened to poor Tali. Fever, cough, and some kind of terrible sinus infection. Poor kid. ::left shoulder button::

I had always questioned the assault-rifle-hero scene as a suspension of disbelief. I mean, he yells in pain at the very beginning of the game when Shepard merely grabs onto his arm and needs help getting to the escape pod. Whenever he moves, its with a pronounced limp. He makes a comment about not breaking a finger while pressing a mute button - clearly being silly as Joker usually is, but his disease is that bad. Osteoporosis x50 or something.
Has Joker healed any in the two years between the prologue and Mass Effect 2? It never mentions, as far as I recall. Chakwas has apparently followed him around because Joker "will always have Vrolus Syndrome" (or whatever it's called).
Keep in mind, this is all friendly debate (or should be). Don't get offended or anything, or go calling me an "ignoramus" for disagreeing.

I'm not hating on Tali, I'm perturbed by the number of people who demanded a character whose codex entries detailed how their DNA was toxic to humans and vice versa and whose immune system is so fragil that a cold could potentially kill them could become a romance interest and the same people who choose to romance such a fragile and toxic flower decide that it is too UNHEALTHY to romance Joker.... that's what I'm hating on - the hypocrites.
Gotcha. That totally makes sense and I support you 100%.
Also, for some reason, the phrase "fragile and toxic flower" is making me giggle hysterically. Hee.

Vrolik's Syndrome. And why would that scene be the one "suspension of disbelief"? You're not allowed to just pick and choose what parts of the game are true. If it happened in the course of your game, it is canon. And Joker takes potshots at Collectors in EVERY game.
Two years have passed, he's with a group that does quite a lot of scientific and medical research, it is hardly a stretch to think that Cerberus gave him some benefits. Yeah, in the beginning, Shepard wrenches his arm around and he's in pain, but... well, two years. He's walking and crawling through ducts and firing weapons and committing several counts of awesome. Clearly, his condition has improved.

Also, even if that weren't the case, people with ALOT worse conditions than him manage to get by and lead normalish lives IN OUR TIME without great medical break-throughs, so I don't understand your inability to grasp the concept of sex without broken bones, but we weren't even asking for a sex scene, just some frickin' dialogue indicative of a deeper relationship that we feel makes alot of sense based on their history together.

Well, if they (BioWare) do their jobs right and FIX the romance/friendhip dynamic that won't be an issue.
One of the most annoying things about this game was that if you were Paragon and were nice to people they wanted to sleep with you, or thought you wanted to sleep with them (No Jack, I'm not into girls club either, I just wanted to be nice to you, you crazy *****!)
If they fix it (there have been alot of good suggestions about this in other threads) it shouldn't affect anyone else anyway, only give the option to those that DO want to take it.

It's been a long while since the Joker conversations in Mass Effect 1.
As a random side note, Vrolik's Syndrome is apparently a real medical condition. Didn't know that.

Maybe all the hostility comes from the fact than in ME2 if you didn't bone (sorry, had to) someone they quit talking to you, and they don't want to lose the ability to talk to Joker so they are resisting with all these lame excuses instead.

That's a fair point. I wanted to talk with Garrus more, but not about stress-release techniques or gun calibration. But hopefully the devs will be aware of a general dissatisfaction with that relationship dynamic and will include friendship conversation paths. I'm of the opinion that the romance option should be a little harder to get, or at least shouldn't be the default option. You know, have Friendly/I should go/Jerk on the right side of the dialogue wheel, then maybe Nice Flirting/Creepy Flirting on the left side. Or something, I'm not quite sure what would go on the lower-left side of the dialogue wheel. So that the default stuff is just being friends, at least to start, and the romance option is literally another path you take with that character.

Oh, yeah, it's very real. I've been doing some research for fanfic purposes. :-D There's several types of it, and I've been trying to determine which type Joker likely has. The devs are taking some liberties with the "it only affects my legs" part, I think-- from what I've read, it's an all-or-nothing deal, normally. But hey, it's the future, maybe it's a slightly different gene mutation or something.

I consider the people who come on to one-line zing with "you'd break all his bones" or "He belongs to EDI, you harpy!" to be hostile posts, because they are just there to provoke ire, not actually discuss pros and cons.

Oh, and I wasn't being hostile, at all! I sure did get some hate-flame blasted into my face, though. Chill, it'd just be a romance option, don't get all Tali-retarded about it.
Hey, hey, heres some more hate on you. I'm a tali retard. Respect dude, seriously, I'm also a femshep joker retard, so point taken!
Joker won't die from a little hip, bump, besides no one said she was going to sit down. Anyway, Its not all about sex for the final frigin time you nerds ahhh!. No I'm not a nerd I'm a geek. I'm not smart like nerds. lol.

If he was a romance option or not, no difference to me. If they want to please the fans, I don't see why not. The friendship/romance dynamic Sar mentioned is a excellent critique on romance options in general, however. It bugged me that the conversation with Jack abruptly ended after her loyalty mission, with little possibility of learning more about her without sharing a bed.
