Hey guys,
I recently joined ME games crowd. Thanks to free ME 2 tho'. Otherwise I was thinking this game has little interest in it for me but how can I more wrong. I really liked ME 2.
Anyway when I first started game I really liked Joker (he is the hottest guy in the crew you know) but during my first play thru my opinion started to change about him. A week ago I would be a supporter for Joker romance but now I don't want it. Here is why:
1- Shepard dies to save that guy but after seeing him alive he doesn't say a thing or thank him/her for sacrificing him/herself while trying to save his stubborn brittle ass.
2- During collector game assault part he says " Hurry up Shepard. I won't lose another Normandy". What??? I saved your life and you are thinking about leaving me here for saving your precious ship? That ship is mine by the way, in case you forgotten.
1- This is no more Joker's fault than it's Garrus's fault that he CANNOT TALK ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN CALIBRATING GUNS FOR 98% OF THE GAME. Weaker characterizations in a sequel shouldn't reflect on the character in general. Please, don't blame Joker. Additionally, Joker doesn't seem the type to get all touchy-feely about stuff that means something to him--and remember, he had months to recover from Shepard's loss, and to know that she was going to be okay because Cerberus was rebuilding her.
Besides, listen to his voice when he knows he's watching you die. "Commander... SHEPARD!" He was there for the most intimate moment of Shepard's existence so far--the premature ending of it. And if Shepard dies at the end of Mass Effect 2, his line is "You're not doing this to me again." Try telling yourself that's about the Normandy. You know it's not. For all his chronic wisecracking, when it comes down to it, Joker has formed a very strong bond with Shepard, regardless of whether you see it as a mere friendship or the kind of friendship that can slowly blend itself into a romance.
2. Nah, a ship belongs more to the guy who steers her than the guy who handles the personnel. But of course it's not just "the Normandy" to Joker. It's what it represents. His friends. His world. His ability to move beyond the limits of his handicap.
And it's easier for somebody like Joker to say "I'm not losing another Normandy" than to be unprofessional in front of his commanding officer--what did you expect? *sob* "Commander, I would just fall apart if I had to watch you die again!" No. He is a military man, used to focusing his emotions--such as humiliation and anger over being laughed at by his peers when he was learning to fly--into excellent performance.
No, Joker wouldn't fall apart in front of Shepard. No matter how much he felt for his boss, he wouldn't show it. It's not his style. Remember, being an ace pilot is the only thing that he has to make him feel as strong, as capable as every other person or even more--he wouldn't jeopardize that unless he was incredibly sure that he couldn't live without her; that he could consider sacrificing his career to be with her. And I doubt he would make a move if he didn't see signs from her that she felt the same.
Part of why I love him, really. And part of why Joker is a perfect candidate for a romance. He's the guy who's been there all along, supporting Shepard and sharing her ups and downs, who means more than the fly-by-night flings Shepard might have had.
They should still totally do this thing. If they don't, ME3 will feel a little bit hollow for me no matter how awesome it is. There's no romance they could come up with now that feels as unique and deep with long-term personal history and affectionate understanding as the one Shepard could have with Joker.
Oh my! I see how big mistake I did in my original post. I should say "Yes there should be a Jokermance but personally I don't interested him".
I agree Joker is a perfect material for a romance as he is one of the main characters since ME 1 (other one is doctor from what I gather but I doubt anyone will want to romance with her

) and if you didn't romance with anyone at all you could pull a Sky on him. Waiting a Sky from him would be naive at best. That guy lives another dimension from normal human beings. (For non-JE players, Sky asks about lack of romance to PC which lead to M/M romance option)
While I love ME 2 more than DA 2 while both games have limited conversation options with companions/crew DA 2's doing a better job at passing the personality of companions. Other than Jack other characters felt a bit hollow to me. I completed game 3 times so far, thanks to ME 1 saves I imported a female Sheperd who romanced with Kaidan, romanced with Jack and one with no romance at all. Romance options handled very poorly I must say. My female sheperd didn't even kiss Kaidan only sighed while looking his picture. Jack romance is another disaster (romance scene-wise) I think sheperd and her made out a bit and got asleep in middle.

Back to Joker again. Defending non-Jokermance with excuse of his physical condition is too weak. You can have romance with a kettle head but can't romance a guy with brittle bones? (Don't want to enter animal related alien romances

, I bet many people don't bother to imagine what they will look like while naked. For me they don't resemble human that much) .
In the end as unlike DA universe getting into romance in ME, ain't providing more insight to the characters so I don't bother to follow them.
