My M!Shep is Earthborn and my Fem!Shep is a Spacer. I also think those two are the most similar. I also don't like the Colonist backstory.

I have a few Sheps waiting for Joker and I picked Spacer for most of them because Joker needs to fly so he needs someone who wants to live on a ship and fly forever =D

Elantriel asked about the Genesis comic. I played ME1 on xbox but had ME2 on PS3 so I had to use it. While playing through ME1 I knew what decisions I actually wanted carried over but I played the opposite just to see. When I played through Genesis, I chose the decisions I wanted, not neccesarily the ones I had actually made. That way you can have go all the way with Kaiden but also kill him off and keep Ash for the rest of the series.

Stop me if I'm not making any sense.

Aye, this. I didn't want my Shepard to be all emo-kid with hurt feelings and tragedy. I felt like that would only impede on his/her career. Spacer is my favourite, Earthborn is acceptable. XD I love being able to call Shepard's mom in ME1, and the email you get from her in ME2. Just imagine introducing Joker to Mr and Mrs Shepard. XD

for my joker i picked a colonist, survivor, engineer, figured the class made the most sense since shepard can hack, fix wires, ships.... meaning more things for them to talk about and for some reason she ended up looking like Mila Kunis hmmm lol

My main Shepard, Skylar, is a Spacer/War Hero. I went a bit further in developing her story beyond just what the game gives us. I imagine that Sky was once a fighter pilot for a few years straight out of the Academy. She decided to re-train to become special forces after she crash-landed on a hostile planet and discovered she has a talent for guerilla warfare (she's an Infiltrator). She completed N5 training just before the Blitz. So she and Joker have that piloting background to fall back on.

Skylar's renegade, alternate-universe, alter ego is Scarlett. My working assumption is that Scarlett and Skylar started out in life as the same person, with the same parents, until Scarlett's parents disappeared in a batarian raid and their bodies were never identified, and the child was given up to an orphanage on Earth. They didn't have a name for the child or records of her parents, but named her Scarlett because she had a large, nasty red scar on her cheek from being in batarian custody. Scarlett is an Earthborn/Sole Survivor, and has harsher features than Skylar because of facial reconstruction she had after Akuze. Her rough upbringing coupled with losing her entire squad on Akuze makes her the renegade that she is...she's gruff, but isn't a total monster. I think Scarlett wanted to become something more than herself - more than someone who just fights their way through life on the street - so she joined the Alliance as a grunt, and worked her way up to special forces from there. Scarlett likes Joker because he's about as sarcastic as she is, but sometimes they clash on protocol.

with Serenity Shepard (my main) i kinda thought of her being a pilot too

&& i think WAY too much about my shepards too, Serenity Shep is colonist/ruthless, but shes gotten past her family's death.  she had basic flight training, but thanks to her unstable biotics, her superiors thought she shouldnt fly anymore (if that makes any bloody sense). she had a couple of friends who were on Akuze, so, she's got that entire grudge with cerberus and thresher maws goin' on. She's Ruthless, not a total renegade though! she's like, half and half paragon/renegade. a good person but is a bit of a bad***! she likes joker because, yeah, shes freaking sarcastic and funny like him and usually nobody can keep up with her wit

even he is excited about casey huson's tweets  but sadly joker knows more then we do about the romance front.....<_< hopefully soon he can share the "joyish"  news

Sky; ahhh savin' the world... in the fan fic i tried (and failed oh so horribly) to write i had my shepard and joker talking and she says somethin like, "how the hell did some farmgirl from mindior and a crippled kid from arcturus wind up being saviors of the world? who decided that I, of all people, am supposed to save the bloody galaxy?!"
