All of you Tali fanboys are ridiculous. You don't "romance" Tali one bit in ME2. All it takes is one conversation with her and she's willing to bed you. There is NO romance involved. At all. None.

The other two LIs, you actually have to work at getting them to accept you. Jack is the hardest to work for.

I think your logic might be a bit off.

If you were talking to a girl or guy, getting to know them better, would you claim to be romancing them?

Just because Tali has already developed an interest for you because of ME1, doesn't mean it's any less of a romance.

To be honest though, I don't consider any of the ME2 romances I've experienced so far to be so indepth as to really feel realistic. 3 conversations and then you have to wait until you do the end mission to get any sort of advancement in your romance.

I agree with your support of Miranda....

but why'd you have to go pick a fight with the Tali people? Tali's great, too. Can we all just love the characters we want to?

Thank you.

About bloody time someone stepped up and said that.

Can't we all be friends?

Yeah.

Seriously people on both sides need to chill with the bashing.

Miranda has a little too much of her Dad's DNA in her for me... but she's certainly an attractive 'woman'... :P

Tali is already in love with Shepard, both Kelly and her recruitment quest illustrate this.  Shepard and her were already good friends since ME1.  Tali stays aboard the Normandy, even after completing her pilgrimage to be with Shepard.  I think a lot of people who don't get Tali either never played ME1 or are just afraid that her fanbase will cause Bioware to write ME3 in favor of her (which could be a valid complaint on their part).

It is definitely a valid complaint.

But surely Bioware is aware that the other LIs have a solid fanbase as well. Like many users mentioned before, Tali's fans are simply more vocal.

Both are awesome.

Both have great personalities. I could care less about their looks, coming from a hetero female player.

That being said, Miranda did not put me off with her initial cold-heartedness. And Tali will always remain my FemShep's little sister.

i don't understand tali's appeal honestly. shes just okay as a character, nothing special. what, so she's so "innocent" or something?

No, actually that isn't really it at all.
I think people were first attracted by the voice acting, which was good and she has a nice accent.
Next, Tali really isn't that innocent, although she is inexperienced at love.  Other than that, though, she is very capable and knows how to take care of herself.

I think the thing that really appeals to people though is the sort of "best friend turned girlfriend" vibe she has.  Partly this is because she was endearing but non-romancable in the first game, and so you have some history with her.  Her romance in ME2 is like finding out that your close female friend has been harboring a crush on you, and then realizing that you feel the same way.  Her dialogue is well-written and well acted, which only makes it feel all the more naural.

TBH I wasn't even part of the Tali fanclub after ME1 -- I did like her character, but I wasn't clamoring on the boards for a romance plot.  I figured Bioware would do whatever they were going to do.  But after going through Tali's loyalty quest and her romance, I think she is my favorite hands down.

Like I said, nothing against Miranda; I like Miranda too.  Hell I even like Jack.
Tali really strikes a chord with me, though.

Pauravi says it well with Tali having the attraction of "best friend turned girlfriend" vibe. Certainly for me being a fan of ME1, it was great to see her character return and develop. I did find the Quarian culture very interesting but it never bothered me that she was never a romance option. I was delighted when I realised that I'd get to see floatilla in ME2.

I didn't know any of the romance options going into the game first time. So when Kelly says she has seen the signs from her having an interest in Shepard, I lost interest with waiting on Miranda (which I'd already had ready for trip through the relay).

Anyway I'm going through on Insanity now, and I'll certainly try a romance with Miranda or Jack...

Go with Jack, it'll be suitable for insanity.

What about Miranda? Tali fans such as myself are Tali fans. You are a Miranda fan. Thus, you like Miranda for your reasons. We adore Tali for our own.

Indeed. I really like Miri, but I can understand why Tali would appeal to some people. It's wonderful that we have this many options, something for everybody.

Miranda was a really interesting character. She puts on a facade of confidence but when you get down to things she is a broken, scared, vulnerable woman that needs to be protected. Nothing against Tali, she is a great character too, and fun to talk to, but i really wanted to see her face so after i didn't i reloaded my Miranda romance file.

Well, I don't mean to flame, since everyone is entitled to their preference, so I speak only for myself when I say, as regards the female ME2 LIs:

Tali is a girl

Jack is an adolescent

Miranda is a woman

This also matches up pretty well with how their romances play out. Tali - cute! Jack - drama! Miranda - hot!

I'm not going to bash Tali or Jack or anyone else like some people are doing. I've actually played through every romance and enjoyed them all immensely. I've found I connect more with Miranda's romance though and I find her as a character to be far more multi-layered than most of the other LIs, with the exception of Jack. I think a lot of people pre-judge Miranda and don't give her a proper chance. They view her as a cold, shallow b**** who was created solely as "fanservice", but really there's a lot more to her. If you take the time to do her loyalty mission and really flesh out her character, she'll show you a softer, insecure side to herself that she obviously doesn't show anyone.

Yes, her romance scene may not be as "sweet" or "cute" as some of the other romances on the surface. I think her's is most often labeled as "hot". Which it is, obviously. I don't think the engine room was some sort of exhibitionist fetish she was playing out with Shepard though. She has an issue with relinquishing control. It scares her. But being with Shepard was so important to her that she met him on middle ground. She could have just as easily had him come to her quarters, but she didn't. It also holds the power core. POWER. Her entire life has been a constant struggle of power; her trying to regain or retain power/control over her own life. I'm probably looking too far into it, but that's how I choose to see it. Plus, she knows what "assets" she's been given. Is it really so wrong of her to use them? Especially when she and the person she loves could possibly die in the next few hours?

I understand that not everyone will like her and that's fine. But in my opinion, she is a great, great character and a perfect fit for my maleshep.(no pun intended) I look forward to what Bioware does with her character in ME3.

And for the record, this is coming from a straight, female gamer who initially thought I would hate Miranda. Obviously, my preconceptions have been thrown out the window.

Miranda = nice ass but as a character she's very average. I like her as a comrade, her professional character is something refreshing for such an eye-candy character, but she's not a patch on Tali.

This Tali vs Miranda war is stupid. Either way, all romances will return in ME3, it's been said so it's not about who cries the loudest (I just realized) because Casey has already said "romances" will be finalized in ME3, so guess what, they all have to return in some way or another. Let people like who they want. It's a game and people have a right to fantasize as much as they want. Give it a rest people Geez! It's not that serious. If somebody finds Miranda attractive-cool, if others don't-cool. Just let it go. Same with Tali and the others. There really are a bunch of children on these boards and apparently NO baby sitters.

Hey - Both a Miranda and Tali hater.
Judging from a "Real life perspective" , lets just imagine these girls existed for real.
For the sake of it, lets just say they're both humans and Tali is a muslim girl with a veil.
Tali is okay, just too shy/boring but thats OKAY. Yeah she could be ugly or pretty, who knows?
But Miranda...she is like....a cheap porn star...with a disformed boy jaw along with that pasted grin of hers...ughh....

Seriously....all the ME2 love interests for a male Shep suck in some fatal way, the only good one is Kelly. The innocent, horny, recent college grad, who really doesn't mind receiving it from her commander.(Garrus and Tali do not fall into this, because they are ME1 old school)

Seriously in real life?

Jack - Ok I get the idea that none of it is her fault. But she's f'ed. You don't waste time going after broken people trying to "Fix them" . Unless you seriously want to waste your time and go into an unhealthy relationship

Miranda- Shes sleezy, a ****, and too full of herself. Her ego gets ahead of her own ability to come close to anyone, shes constantly reaching for unrealistic perfection in herself and holds everyone and herself to redicoulous standards. Could you stand someone like that in RL?Just a booty call.

Samara- She won't do it with you. Not to mention she's litterally 1000 years old. That aside, her dialogue reveals she was very... "Open" as a younger girl. Possible reason for being a justicar? Not to mention she screwed up by having so many kids that turned out to be ardat yakshis.
Bad parenting on her part

Morinth - Equivalent of getting a STD and having it accelerate 100X on you. No thanks, Shepard needs to stay alive for ME3.
