Age is all in your head. When you lose your imagination and ability to "play", then you are old. I'm 61 and have played video games since they first arrived. Pong anyone? Gaming as a hobby is no different than hunting, fishing, collecting stamps, reading a book...it is all about escape. Keep playing and when they tell you that you're too old, just :)

I'm 50, and I've played mostly RPG's. Tell the whappers that not only are you enjoying a strong narrative, but you're also maintaining brain mass by actively gaming.

Congrats on fatherhood. Maybe you'll be as lucky as me, and you'll have two adult children to join your raiding party, when multiplayer is available.

Two decades. Both my fiance and I play Dragon Age and games alike~

I admit, seeing people above my age playing DragonAge is refreshing! Gives the darkly heart of mine hope for humanity.

30... which is the new 20. Or perhaps not.

I remember enjoying RPG's much more as a late teens/early twenties kind of guy. Less paranoia about wasting your time etc. Damn it I'm not going to give up playing altogethor though.  I'll just hide it ; "Video games? Haven't done that in years" :)

Also, I'm quite surprised that there are women on these forums.

I'm 32, and both my wife and I worked on DA:O, (but only I play it, she's not that much of a gamer). We have a 1 year old who was obviously born during the last year of development and made it that much harder to finish the game... well, for us.

BTW, my wife doesn't believe the 60 year old lady who mentioned that she is currently playing DA:O. I personally congratulate her on an excellent hobby.

28 on Friday here.

Most games aren't very how should I say...mature friendly, this is most likely where the stigma comes from, but other games with a good plot, good atmosphere, solid characters, and good dialogue are basically the only games I play and look for nowadays.  Some people just don't get that some games are a good escape, just like a good book is, because their close minded or not very...game intelligent?  They suck with controls, camera, etc.

Now if you're my age and you're still playing consoles and games like final fantasy 500, or very linear games, jumping/timing games etc I'll make fun of till you cry or until you *hopefully* take a swing at me so I can knock your pansy, childish arse out, f'n console losers.

So you, a supposed "adult," will "make fun" of any other adult that enjoys playing games like Mario or whatever they happen to fancy that doesn't happen to pass your "maturity test" until they actually cry? And then you proceed to say that you'll fight them and knock them out for being "console losers?"

That's one of the most sophomoric things I've ever heard.

That's the sort of mentality I'd expect from a 13 year old Gamespot user.

I measure my age in game hours, not physical age.

So, 20000 hours =)

Personally I find it disgusting that family members and friends try to tell me I shouldn't do something I enjoy. I have endured all the labels ("addict" being one of them (and maybe appropriate at times)). Games are better than any books and other sources of information. I learnt more about natural history from Civilization, more about macroeconomics and trading psychology from playing MMOs, and have more about abject morality and consequences of action from playing RPGs than I ever would have in 20 years of study without games.

Games keep me sane.

What can I say, people my age still playing games developed for 8 year olds gets under my skin.  I don't care how old you are, something will always get under your skin no matter what, this is one of the few things I can count on one hand that gets under mine.

It also why we don't get very many refined/mature games, 25+ mouthdroolers still playing the crap.

You claim to be an "adult" but it seems to me that you have the mindset of a rabid 13 year old console fanboy.

"I'd sock em in the mouth cuz they play games for kids! /rage"

Hang out with me for awhile, I could easily find out what sets you off and make you rage in the same manner ;)

Adult != losing the ability to hate/dislike/get mad.

No, you're not too old. Myself (19) and my Father (47) still game together. Borderlands, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, etc. We're both enjoying the hell out of Dragon Age Origins.

I'm 24, but when I'm not working or spending time with the GF (i.e. when she falls asleep, or on one of my two weekly "game days"), I'm playing games. So tough to choose between DA:O or MW2!! So many good games....so little time.

I'm 21, and been playing PC games since I was 5, :). I find plenty of time to play DA:O because I'm single, :(. When I'm not playing DA:O I'm playing Torchlight, or surfing the internet/MSN.

67 years young and I have played computer games since there were computers. I have tried FPS games, strategy and the good ole' Hack n Slash. The last is my favorite. My life is in the 'magic screen' of computer games. Yes I have a life outside of this but......

Keep 'em coming. Who knows it might stimulate my brain enough to avoid alzheimers. Now what was I saying?.....

i still remember playing my first video game rpg on the commodore64 my dad bought when i was a kid. it was one of the ad&d games, cant remember the name anymore. it was so hard for me at the time though, you would face these armies of enemies and every fight took forever.

Lucky ba....

I'm 19, and my 49-year-old father won't even look at a video game, but he's fun to be around otherwise. We talk about the life and the womens. He's played one video game his entire life... and beat it. Super Mario 64.
