After seeing I was wearing underwear in the sex scenes in Dragon Age: Origins I wasn't really expecting any nudity in ME2. It would of been nice but obviously Bioware didn't want to have to deal with the controversy.

It was a bit disappointing not being able to say 'ready for round 2?' after the action this time.

I think EA had bioware not do full frontal nudity due to a few things.

1. Last time it got on Fox news.

2. Fox News likes to delve deep into stuff like this.

3. EA workers would be interviewed and say things the company doesn't want known.

4. Bad press for EA.

Yvonne Strahovski might have a problem with them making Miranda nude.

Its not the issue of nudity or not nudity to appear, its the freedom to put it there or not, and not have to deal with stupid fallout from anyone. I am as conservative as it gets, and I feel its stupid to limit what is an artistcally told story because of the fear of underage gamers that should be supervised by an adult when playing a game that is rated M+. Nudity,Romance, Vulgar language, death blah blah, can all be put into a story to tell whats going on in an extremely stressful situation. In fact to not have that where it's called for can take away from the reality of the story.

That being said, I was please to say, I saw a gamestop employee refuse the sale of the game to an underage individual, and made said parent( who seamed unhappy) to buy it for him. That being said, EA/Bioware no longer responsible now its her fault lol.

Full on nudity is a bad idea. The game would have received an AO rating then and almost no one would sell it in their stores.

god forbid there is nudity in an "m" rated game. lord knows titanic (hated that movie, but whatever, using it as an example) was ONLY pg-13, and it had nudity in it.

Not necessarily true. The first DLC content for Grand Theft Auto IV had full frontal male nudity (in other words, they showed a guy's schlong) yet the game has a Mature rating, and second I never heard any fuss in the media about it, which in retrospect I find kinda surprising, especially after how Fox News went ape**** over the brief split-second nudity and short love scene in Mass Effect.

Anyway, I do feel Bioware caved on this. So Fox News created a brief controversy back then, so what? Did it hurt the sales of the game? Millions of people own the first game, and I don't know of any retailers back then that refused to carry Mass Effect. If ME2 had the same type of love scenes, what would make things different this time? For me, oddly the lack of seen intimacy made me care less for the whole love interest aspect in the game. At least in the first game, I got to see Sheppard consumate their feelings with Liara, and it seemed significant, even though we only saw several seconds of it. It felt like a resolution to the build up throughout the game. I didn't feel the same impact with the love story this time around.  It was just sort of like "Meh". They didn't even need to show nudity, they could've just have briefly shown the two underneath the covers while being intimate. But for me after some sweet talk and then it cuts quickly to Sheppard standing alone in her room, it didn't feel like there was that significant resolution. But that's just me.

they might have caved a little bit.  but have to remember also, the chick on fox news was trying to promote her book as well, and everyone jumped on her sh*t about talking about stuff that she knew nothing about and she later released an apology for her comment regarding the sex scene.

Whatever the reasons were for Bioware not having love scenes in ME2, for me personally the love interest aspect of the game fall kinda flat, they just don't have the same feeling of resoltion or intimacy like the first game had. Like I said before, Bioware didn't even have to feature nudity, it could have just have been a brief scene of Sheppard and their love interest underneath the covers while being intimate.

Those damn conservatives ruining your sideboob in games!

I'm fiscally and philosophically conservative in many ways. Personally, I say bring on the sideboob. Or full boob. It's a game for those over 18, as per the rating. That's the age of consent. Putting nudity in it won't kill anyone.

Not saying ME1's sex scenes weren't classy, but ME2 did a much better job with their romance scenes. Not every sex scene has to be "UNNHHHHH HOHHHHH YEAHHH" or show nudity. The best scene is one left to the imagination ;)

I don't understand why people get all upity about this though, No one is looking for full on bangin action (though the conversations while animating would definitely be hillarious). But the skill it takes to get every detail by hand is impressive, its a level of ability, and I think equally it would be in CGI due to the complexity that would have to be put into it.

While some argue that it makes no difference, they have cloths on it would take no time to reskin it, I believe a quick fix would be yes, thats true, however someone to spend the time to skin it in a way designed to look proper would take significantly longer. Just my thoughts of course

Bioware pretty much caved in.

they don't want to deal with Fox News again even though EA has it's lawyers on speed dial on anything that would kill it's golden goose.

Personally, I liked these love scenes in this one. It put much more emphasis on emotional romance rather than physical. I didn't mind.

Does anyone really think Fox News has that much pull? Is it stopping anyone from buying the game?

Besides I don't think Fox News even saw the scene, if they had I doubt they would make a big deal out of it considering it's hardly the worst thing in video games.

Some writer called the game hardcore simulated porn and Fox News didn't check the facts and just ran with it, like they are known to do. I don't think they would get that kind of response again.

yeah fox news, from what I saw when they ran the story on mass effect, blew the whole thing out of porpotions and said that little adolescent boys would go and play the game for the sex scene. If they worry so much about what boys see, then shouldn't they rather be running a story on the internet, or I don't know, national geographic?

While I agree with that, and conversation/voice actingwise it works, its hard to be suggestive with body language/physical expression with polygons. I'd say they did an excellent job one way, but the actual scenes could use some work. I suppose beating someone over the head with the actual happenings would be a bit much, but c'mon some of those scenes were appropriate, some really REALLY needed work, i.e Tali's was done perfect for her personality/race/risk involved, while Miranda's could have had a little more somthing, fear of nudity is silly.

I wouldnt mind so much if it weren't supposed to be a bigger part of the game, but I mean lets face the fact, in ME1, the bigger impact in ME2 was the previous LI. While its debatable, most of the other decisions were more cosmetic in the game. The reason I say this is that the LI in ME1 could play significants in ME3 depending, or the new choice in ME2 could as well, leading me to believe that its a more important decision than we are initially going to expect.

Dante's Inferno has 18 different types of breasts and penises.

EA made, stop your whining on trivial things. Get upset about terrible side missions, character interactions and make you squad mates floating guns that are almost never aware of others around them.

We don't even need to see anything. Nudity's not required. A LOT could have been implied by artful camera direction, etc. There was no need to tackle Turian/Drell physiology (I would say Quarian, too, but MaleSheps got a heck of a lot more in that department than FemSheps with their respective aliens.) - a hand on a bare arm, a bare human leg entangled in some bedsheets... wouldn't have taken much to get the point across.

I still would have rather had more conversation/confirmation of feelings during all of that myself... the presumed sex scenes would have been a bonus on top of that.
