Can you change Shepard's first name when importing from ME1?
I have 2 different save games in ME1 (based on the path I took).
I'd like to import these several times (for multiple play throughs which will be saved for ME3 imports).
I'd like to set my character's first name to something different for each playthrough.

No, you can't. That's one thing I'd like to do as well. I'd like to be able to change the name AND change the face of my Shepard, but keep the other background profile such as which choices I made.
