I agree with a whole lot of this (my, what a surprise!) - it's fair to say that I had.. issues.. with Bastila and her vocal delivery and while I always liked Hale's delivery of Sarah Parker (Ground Control, if you're curious), I didn't quite have the same appreciation for Bastila.. Of course, then along comes Mass Effect and now its sequel, and I stand in continuous awe of Hale's vocal mastery.SweetiePea wrote...
I think male Shep's voice acting is awful. Jennifer Hale is a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better Shep. I tell my hubby that all the time.(I'm tickled every time I think about this because Jennifer Hale also voiced Bastila and I could not stand Bastila when I played KotOR. Now I fangirl over Jennifer Hale's VA for Shep. lol)
I also like Tali, quite a bit. I enjoyed having her in my team again for ME2. She feels little sister-ish to me as well. While I certainly love the romances, I also like for my PC to have friends in game. I absolutely loved Ash in ME1, and she and my Shep were very, very tight. (And I agree that we need a nifty term like "bromance" for the relationship between females.) It was very difficult for me to sacrifice her on Virmire because of this. Overall, I liked Miranda more than I thought I would, but I didn't get the same sense of warm friendship with her that I did with Tali and Ash. Of course, I also found Miranda a bit too indoctrinated by Cerberus, but I digress...

Nhani, I applaud your fortitude. I've been around this thread for some time now, but I can't usually keep up with it. I tend to drop in every so often and type up some of my thoughts.
And yes, I always liked Ash, and I while I thought I'd actually dislike Miranda, I really warmed up to her over time. Not like Best Friends Forever or anything, but she grew into someone I felt could be trusted and relied on, which I didn't expect. Though for some reason I half expected/wanted the ability to try and set her up with Jacob. Blame having endured Mass Effect Galaxy.
As for Jacob, you can actually continuously dodge the romance bullet and make friends with him? I'll have to try that if so - I ended up dreading having to talk to him halfway through the game because trying to speak with him without sparking a romance or flirting became this ominous maze I wasn't sure I'd be able to properly navigate.
As for Fortitude.. people tell me I can be stubborn. In this case, I spent several hours over several days just trying to catch up to the rocket-powered train that is this thread. Or maybe that's Kaidan-powered..
