Just a little commentary of the statistics. In light of the more colorful cast of Mass Effect 2, it is not surprisingly that Kaidan or Ashley are overshadowed. However, I do view some of the animosity to Kaidan as being childish. Part of it has to do with some male aggression towards other males, as Kaidan is both the lead male of Mass Effect 1 and human. Kaidan also has the same voice actor as Carth, whom many considered as whiny. Kaidan, however, was not whiny and made a point that his past has been taken care of, but people are still projecting Carth unto Kaidan. Here's hoping that those who like ME1 romance interests get their due in ME3.

I'm in the minority, I suppose. I loved Carth, I still love Carth. Aside from Revan, he was my favourite character in KotOR, and still in my top 10 BioWare characters.

Kaidan is cute! I loved how he slipped up on the view in the lower wards and I loved how he stumbled with words when hitting on him!! Supporting and Loyal even though ME3!! /signed

Love Carth as well, haven't played Kotor in ages so Sbarge voice is now Kaidan to me though. Maybe I should play Kotor again while waiting for ME3 sometime I think LI's written for women will always get a lot of hate from the majority of men, but as long as they're being written the way they have been..I could care less, after all they are OUR LI's, not theirs

I love Carth as well.  My kids actually got me playing Mass Effect by telling me Carth was in it.

I give my support to a returning Kaidan thread!

He was pretty cool, and was always in a team with one of my Shepards in ME1. My ratio of blowing up Kaidan to Ashley was 1 to 3 on four playthroughs. He was far better than Ashley as far as I'm concerned.

His commentary to Shepard was a little harsh in ME 2 but hopefully it will be resolved in the trilogy finale, especially for those characters who had him as a love interest in ME 1.

Far better of a focused, level-headed character than Carth as far as I'm concerned. He was less whiny too. And much more interesting than Jacob.

I still maintain that statistics are total BS, 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot!

You're premise of what counts as popular may be different to mine, you fanny about with scales of 1-10 and subtracting people who dislike him, it doesn't take into account anyone who doesn't vote honestly, how many Tali fans are terrified that if the ME1 LI get decent votes then they'll come back and the ME2 LI's won't?

There is no breaking down of the data into gender groups or age groups, so even if I accepted your data, it tells us what?  That a forum dominated by men doesn't like the female LI?  Well duh!  I could have told you that!

That data was flawed, hence has no relevance and if you compare this poll to any of the other polls where you can't cheat all of a sudden Kaidan doesnt' seem to do so bad, what does that tell you?

I have a real beef with statistics, can you tell? and it really pisses me off when people try to claim that they're proof for whatever aganda they're pushing.  Even more so when you decide we need to know the results of your survey, how arrogant!

You give me data from a science experiment and I can make it tell you whatever I damn well please, in fact that what some of the most famous scientists did, they fudged the data, it just so happens they were right so history forgets the data was of dubious origins. 

So stop telling people about you wonderful poll!  We don't care, we still like Kaidan so go back to your own thread!

ARRRGH! I hate statistcs so much!

I adore Carth too!  Unfortunately my PC crashes everytime I try to play KoToR  What a great game though, romance was awesome.

Carth was the my favorite video game character for a long time.  I loved him.  Only thing I didn't like about KoTOR was that we had to get a mod before Carth actually didn't just confess his love 7 feet away from Revan.  Man, but that was one of the sweetest romances in a game ever.

Even if you couldn't cheat on the voting...other forums might not come out with the same results. Not every Mass Effect forum is cluttered with Talifans.

I don't think that it's just Talifans who voted Kaidan most hated; some guys tend to hate sensitive guy characters no matter what. I also have a feeling that people have noticed our thread is quite active, and the idea of a bunch of fangirls (and some guys!) appreciating the sensitive leading male character may be driving them to hate him more.

Polls mean nothing, especially forum based polls on forums like this one where there seems to a trend that everybody follows (Tali) and if you look at the more detailed polls you'll see that when she gets a 10, Kaidan often gets a 1. I'm sure there are voters who never played ME1, see the name Kaidan or Ashley and just give it a 1 because they don't know those characters that well or simply don't care.

And even if Kaidan moves higher up that list, what does that prove? Besides it giving me a warm fuzzy feeling, it means nothing. Lots hate Kaidan for absolutely no other reason than him being a normal military man and that's just not interesting enough. Slap some tats on the guy, have him headbutt random people, work wonders with big weapons and take his female LI status away and they will rank him higher. *shrugs* Like I said, he is OUR LI, who the hell cares what random boy nr.29945 thinks?

The only thing that WILL make me care is if actually influences Kaidan as a character because he has no appeal to raging hormones fanboys. If at any time they reduce Kaidan's role in ME3 to appease the masses or give him some out of character story to make him more interesting, THAT's when I'll come here and throw a nerdrage for sure.

They can create all the romances in the verse for their fans, have Shepard sleep with everything that has legs, paws or claws...but stay true to your original characters and keep Kaidan the way he is, with perhaps just some natural growth in his character after all these years. And I think they will do just that, it is Bioware after all.
