Love and hate are strong emotions that are very close to each other. The devs are prob happy that everyone doesn't love all the characters if people were ambivalent towards him then we'd need to worry!

In an interview with one of the Dev's they discussed what they thought was a successful character. Their response was that if they were both loved and hated then they considered them a success. Kaidan was specifically mentioned.

Seriously though, one of the Tali fans posted(somewhere) that they put Tali and Garrus in ME2 because they were more important to the overall story than the other 4 team mates from ME. They sound almost delusional at times. They forget that Tali and Garrus could die in ME2, meaning that the Devs see the two characters as expendable.

Thanks!  And that's a great pic too.  We need more "wide-eyed, innocent, gosh did I just say that" Kaidan, and less angsty, sad and confused Kaidan.  Make it so, Bioware.

They don't just sound delusional, many of them are delusional!

Exactly. It's very delusional on their parts. And there isn't a case of "if Shepard lives, then X lives."

Deaths are randomized.

Tali and Garrus were put in there not because they were important, but because they weren't characters that were promised to be in all 3 games.

That's strange... in my game he's alive and Tali is dead. Go figure.

Not sure why, but I've come to picture this board as a bunch of different groups huddling behind covers while throwing pies at each other... and then there are the occasional group who just sits and eat their pies instead and just enjoy the company.

From what I've seen, the Garrus and Kaidan fans tend to be the least likely to put down other romances, or involve themselves in the dramatic bickering some other threads devolve into.

To be fair, apart from (I believe) Shepard, Joker, and Liara every character we've seen now is potentially expendable. So it does mean something to say that Garrus and Tali were in both games so far in their full roles, though I'd be the first to agree it doesn't necessarily mean they're some kind of canon squadmates or something like that.

I think it comes from seeing any effort to ensure one's own favorite character makes a full appearance in ME3 is coming at the opportunity cost of somebody's else's character being included, and thus being reduced to a cameo. So in a sense, it is reasonable (because it very well could be true), but it's also kind of sad to see the animosity at times.

Which interview was this, do you still have it? It sounds like it'd make a rather interesting read.

Agreed; people are just attaching to what was personally important to them and.. well.. are insecure enough to fear they'll be shoved aside for something they don't value nearly as much.

Clearly.. they are afraid of us.. *evil cackle*

Nope, Shep can die.  I mean, you have to be a complete jerk to everyone, ignore the upkeep of your ship, and work at it very hard, but you can do it.

*sighs* wish my gamer husband was feeling all Valentinesish.  He's hogging the one and only Xbox in this house hold.   Oh well.  At least I got to watch him flip out when I told him Kal' Reeger didn't have to die.  He was like, whhaaaattt?

(Jayne is his favorite sci-fi character of all time)

So Darazelly, are we the ones eating the pies :-p

I love pie, yum.

Yay to the Kaidan dancing, the first time I ever saw it I laughed so hard I think I pee-ed a little!

Let's have a toast to the inclusion of all and the choice to liquidise all who oppose us!

I could never get Kaidan to dance with my Shep in ME1 no matter how hard I tried - is there some kind of trick to it or is it just luck?  I really wish they would give shep a few more dance moves rather than just the geeky feet shuffling.

Kaidan/Ash also fall into the same category as Shepard,Joker, and Liara in the fact that one of them had to live by the virtue of the fact that one of them had to die. You just got the opportunity to choose which one did what. Everyone that played ME2 had at least one of them(Kaidan/Ash) in the game because one of them couldn't die.

Consider them two sides of the same coin...you just get to pick the gender of the one you want to live.

I have no idea where it was...I think a link to it was posted over on the old forum...I was spoiler hungry before the release and looked at just about everything. I wouldn't even know where to start...I could be mistaken but it might have been a video.

You need to make sure Kaidan is on the dance floor and then hit E (if you are on the PC) and then you two should  dance for a few seconds.
