Ya' know I do get that they are looking at achievements and such, but I still find it hard to believe that they will totally penalize everyone who decided to test the waters in ME2...(especially if it's on seperate saves)

Still, if folks prefer to go the "better safe than sorry" route and totally avoid the paramour achievement, than that's their preogative, and I can understand the concern...I REALLY want to see Kaidan back in ME3 for my canon Shep and the possibility that it might not be possible is a bit worrisome.

I admit that I'm a little paranoid about the 'achievement' thing but even if they weren't doing it, I wouldn't cheat. I found it totally impossible for me to even kill Kaidan on Virmire in a Maleshep save of mine. I just couldn't do it. And it's the same with the ME2 LI's...I just can't find it in me to have my Femshep cheat on Kaidan to 'try' out the other LI's. Thinking back to that sweet guy in ME, I just couldn't do that to him.

I reloaded and did some of the romances. My canon save is faithful, tho.

In ME 1 I played through a number of different iterations. I enjoy seeing all the different possibilities for the same character in a game.

They're already going to have ME3 pretty much planned out, and they've already stated that they needed Liara and Ash/Kaidan alive for ME3, which is why they weren't in 2.

And my chief concern about that is...will that mean a string of cameos(or God forbid one cameo) that completes the romance the way they see fit or completing the romance the way they see fit while also allowing us to have our LI's as squad members(which was pretty much the way they did it in ME).

Happy Valentine's Day!

And now, a little goth love reading.

"Love - a blip on the monitor of involuntary human response, a hiccup of emotion when compared with envy ... hatred ... lust. And just who was this "Saint" Valentine? A bishop. Roman, Third Century. Got his head sliced off. Ouch. For marrying lovers against his Emperor's decree. You see, Claudius the Second believed that men made better warriors unmarried. Power comes with the absence of love. Love drains us of our strength. We never learn ... do we?

And you say that love conquers all? Well not for you, "Saint" Valentine. Not for me. Not for any of the ... "heart" ... "broken."

Does love really exist in this hedonistic world of ours? Or is there only our own selfish needs? Our own desires that fuel the potion? Does she love me? Love me, not ... what does it really matter? What hellish alchemy if it does?

Just say no to love. A carnival kewpie and an electric blanket will give you more satisfaction. Don't ever give them your heart.

Constant stars. The only comforting light. Kill the pain ... this incessant longing ...

Like some sweet on the track ... roll steel wheels right over her precious body. She's just a girl. The apple of your pie in the sky. Valentine her good. Good-bye, my friend. Pass your days in one-night stands. Tear apart the threads - the web of love's truth. Wear strings of beauties. Wrap your heartstrings round your neck.

...True love is like morphine. One taste and you are enslaved - unless, of course, there are ... extraordinary circumstances that stand in your way.

...There is nothing more captivating than meeting one's opposite. You fuse together like two sides of the same coin.

A toast then - to new friends, old champagne ... and passions of the heart.

Love exsists. Rage is within. A silent scream of endless pain. A hellish alchemy, indeed. Without equal. Not death, not hell itself - but a precious, precious flower ... long withered, gone."

**** you, Valentine's Day. I'm going to have another drink and play some more Mass Effect as a Renegade.

If Kaidan isn't in my squad for ME3 I will be extremely PO'd.  I don't think I could take another cameo -  It was damn hard going through ME2 without him, after all he never left my Shep's side in ME1.  Shep needs him to help her fight the reapers damn it.  Joker will also suffer some serious biotic damage to his brittle bones if he interupts the reunion.

I feel the same way...Kaidan was always in my squad and I pretty much had Liara with me most of the time as well...they were the greatest team.

Kaidan joins the squad and is directed to his new quarters on the Normandy SR-2

Kaidan: *looks around* Wait, Shepard, this is your cabin. You want me to bunk here?
FemShep: *eyes Kaidan hungrily* Why would you want bunk anywhere else?
Kaidan: *grinning* I suppose you're right, Shepard. We have a few years to catch up on.. *moves in closer*
Joker (over the intercom): *muffled snicker* Commander: message from...
FemShep: ***Renegade Interrupt: hits mute button*** Now, where were we?

I like Kaidan very much and all my Sheps were loyal to him in ME2, but not becouse of "cheating" things only becouse lack of attractive male as a LIs ( well at last for me they weren't, and while I loved Garrus as a friend and really liked Thane, for sure don't want to have romance with them).
About cheating..to be honest after meeting on Horizont and e-mail from Kaidan, I really don't know how things will be going in ME3 for my Sheps & Kaidan. I think, he started new life, he moved on finally after Shep "death", and he is ready for new relationship with someone ( maybe even with this doctor from Citadel). I think that my PC havn't right to ruin his present life, so she should let him go, and start her "new life" too.

You're right. Kaidan may have started a new life, but my Shep will be just a tiny bit selfish when it comes to him. It may be the 'right' thing to let him move on, but she has gone on two suicide runs to save the galaxy. She has died once. She was given up just about everything important to her to get the job done. At the end fo the day, she may not have enough inner strength to be the better person and let the love of her life walk away.

I didn't get the impression he'd really moved on.  He tried but hadn't really succeeded.  If he had, he wouldn't have told Shep in the email that the doctor "wasn't anything serious" or ended by saying something about if Shep survived maybe....

My Sheps remained faithful because they really really like...ok love  Kaiden. And I have to admit I didn't find any of the new "romance options" particularly attractive in that kind of way.  :)

Just popped in for a minute as I am replaying ME1 right now to catch some Kaiden goodness.....

Also, keep in mind that Kaidan's email says that after knowing that Shepard is alive, he's found that he wasn't moved on like he thought he was. I think moving on from him would be a punch in the gut.

Shep : Joker, take us anywhere, I don't care.  I'll be in my cabin discussing, um..., tactics with Commander Alenko.  This will be a fairly indepth discussion so don't expect to see either of us for at least a week
Joker : but commander,  what if you're needed on the bridge?
Shep : Joker, I have biotic powers and I know how to use them.  You remember what happened to Saren,  Sovereign, and that reaper base don't you?  So unless the Normandy is disintegrating I don't want to hear from you.  Thats an order!
Joker : Oh, Aye Aye Commander. *watches Shep run away towards elevator*  Sheesh, she's in a bad mood, I'd hate to be Commander Alenko right now. LOL

Oh, I agree that I don't think he has moved on. However, even if he were still trying, my Shep couldn't let go.

I wonder how the cheating thing is going to work out...

One thing I don't think people get is that even though it's been two years for Liarashidan, it's been only two weeks or so for Shepard. By finding someone else that quickly, it's basically telling the original LI, "Hey, you never meant anything to me. I didn't want to work through our problems." And it tells the new LI, "Hey, so I think you're the new one now."

Ouch, never thought of it that way.  Always just focuesed on the fact that two of the options were sleezy and that Thane, well Thane you're a nice guy and all but I still love my Kai Kai.

See? I think that's the problem that a lot of people are going to have.

I wouldn't be surprised if both LIs left Shepard after finding that out.

Consider Kaidin's romance content in ME1 as a baseline when thinking of getting "more" or "less" in ME3.

Besides some thing are meant to be...or that's the way I'm playing it. It's obvious Kaidan is still hung up on Femshep...she's probably the love of his life. Letting him go would be the equivalent of pushing him away if he really wanted to be with her and it  would mean if he did move on with somebody else he would be settling. He would probably think about Shepard for the rest of his life and what could have been. Ruining his life would be pushing him into someone else's arms when he really wanted to be with Femshep. Just my opinion.

Yeah, that's kinda been my take as well; Shep has only been awake a short time.  When she tells Kaiden that on Horizen, it's like he's so shaken up by seeing her alive that he can't really hear what she's saying and the fact that she hasn't  been avoiding him (heck, my Shep has been asking everyone about the old crew, and Kaiden Alenko in particular) but in fact has been actively trying to find him, doesn't seem to be able to register.

Ooooo she's gonna make him pay when she get's back from the Collector Base.... shore leave, 2 week minimum, large room with jacuzzi, room service....Posted Image

I didn't feel like he had moved on either...if he had...why bother in sending an email at all. Just let Horizon be the end of it and go on with you're new life.

I think he wants Shepard back and his email was his clumsy 'foot in mouth' way of trying to tell her he's still in love with her. May have even been afraid to just come out and say "I want you back" and "I still love you" because he was afraid of coming across as desperate...just like he didn't want to appear whiney to her in ME.

Even if Kaidan has moved on, my femsheps have a great, big achy heartbreak of their own to get over now. For some people that equates to rebound romance, but for my femsheps, it equates to lots of broody alone time.
