Oh well, just gives me more incentive to play the Orlais warden I guess, or finally finish my Dalish elf who is trying to obliterate humanity along with the darkspawn. She could care less if Zev came back to be honest.

Mmmkay, so has anyone else wondered what that odd hair bump is on the way back of his head?
(most likely)
Theories? Thoughts?
Think someone said in the thread a while back that he probably has wavy or curly hair.
Yeah that someone was me. Have him on my tv now in the background and with the lighting on his hair it's easy to see it's really wavy or rather smoothened out curley. Can even clearly see it along his face, the hairline is wavy too.
Kaidan sure seems to have thick, stubborn hair...wonder what he'll look like without all the obvious product he uses in it to keep it decent

:lol:I'm sorry...everytime we talk about his hair being curly my mind goes back to the same place...Kaidan wet and in a towel...What...it's the best way to see the natural state of his hair.

That makes me sad that we won't get to continue our DA:O romances. My poor Cousland sacrified quite a bit to try and salvage a smidgeon of happiness. /pout
Question...Have they said anything about whether it will at least mention that there was or is a relationship with the character you romanced in DAO? Even if you can't romance them? I mean it would be weird if there was absolutely no mention whatsoever.

Okay can't find the cable, enough of that. Anybody else slightly disturbed by what's going on with the DA:O expansion and having all LI's reduced to cameos? No way to continue a romance and no new ones either. Eek.
Hope it's not because of the fact that there are too many possible endings and thus it's cameo time again. Because that doesn't bode well for ME3
And thanks RedNanaki for all that information
Oh and before I forget, the song that plays in ME1 when romancing Kaidan...is it available on your ME2 radio? Don't think I heard it.
Yes, me too, I read about the no continuing love interests in Awakenings yesterday, and it was pretty depressing. Along with realizing I have no interest in replaying ME2 anymore, it made me very mopey last night. Dragon Age would be cool even without the romances and friendships, but they were such an integral part of the game, it's hard to imagine. I guess I'm expecting too much from an expansion, but I preferred Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark to the original Neverwinter Nights campaign, and Mask of the Betrayer was the best part of NWN2, so maybe I was spoiled back then...
Another thank you to Red Nanaki too, all that info in one place is great.
Awakenings is making me go Meh now. Won't get it at release that's for sure. DA:O already made me cringe at the end sticking a knife in my heart and twisting it over and over again until the game lost a lot of its replay value. And now I learn that those heartbreaking moments pretty much have no effect on the expansion, most of your companions are gone and your LI (Alistair in my case) is reduced to a single cameo. I didn't make all those horrid choices to keep him alive just to see him being cameod. Bad timing on Bioware's part since I just went through that with Kaidan.
Had enough of that, thank you very much.
And if this means we've been spoiled by all the great expansions in the past, well so be it. You're supposed to move forward anyway, not take steps back because it's financially convenient. (too many possible endings/deaths being mighty expensive to integrate I assume) Gosh I really hope Kaidan will become a squadmate in ME3, think I'll be heartbroken if he isn't.

Yes, David Gaider cleared it up in FAQ - there will be acknowledgement of your romance you just won't be able to actively persue it
Edit - here is the quote:
David Gaider wrote ...
Just regarding those asking about the romances, by "not continue" it just means you don't have a chance to actively continue the relationship during the course of this adventure. It does not mean that you mysteriously broke up or that the romance is not recognized to exist. I would have liked to have cameos by everyone, but that simply wasn't possible. As it is, you may find some treats awaiting you -- recognizing past decisions can be done in small ways, as well as large (and this applies to things outside of romances, as well).

On a brighter note (hopefully!), I finished my cannon playthrough of ME2 last night. My Paragon Vanguard is all set to whoop some Reaper butt in ME3 and restake her claim on Kaidan. (And I got almost all of the achievements that I missed after my 'learn the new combat system' playthrough.)

Well at least that's something...if they totally ignored it I'd be concerned about where they were heading.

I haven't seen anything mentioned about that, but I assume Alistair will say something to his wife (if that's your story anyway) in his cameo and send her on her merry little way.
Seems like he'll pull a Kaidan, but without all the anger
Edit : Ah thanks for the Gaider post

Oh, I also want to add that I was very perturbed with talking with Thane this time round. Question is, what pet name would Kaidan give Shepard?

I thought that I would try the Thane romance - but as soon as my Shepard held hands with him and talked about going away with him after all of this was over, I felt so disgusted at myself and wished she was saying all those things to Kaidan. I really surprised myself I must say.
Anywho, lets get this thread back on track ...

I have no clue. I'm hoping Alistair at least remembers that we are engaged. If not, I really won't want to play my rogue in the expansion. After all, what would be the point?
I think its silly that the new Queen has to go out and kill darkspawn tbqh. Time to give some other young upstart a chance to be hero. My Cousland is staying at the Castle with Alistair.

Don't be miserable...it's not like DAO Awakenings is DAO 2 or something. I don't think they could ignore the ME1 and ME2 LI romances in ME3 without severely damaging their reputation. They've already had too many uproars about it.
Besides they did say they were going to do it like the last Indiana Jones flick and as I recall Marion was kinda partnered with Indy in it so maybe that means we can have Kaidan as a squad member.

Well I take comfort in that its two totally different teams on DAO and ME. I still have hope that ME3 will be the better franchise in the romance department. The books are more positive than DA's books.
Gaider made a world that is just miserable in DA. All the characters in the books are miserable too. Its just tragedy and death. It makes me want to just let the Thedas be overrun with darkspawn so the world has a chance to start over!

This is why I refused to put Alistair on the throne, his father was a miserable, miserable king most of the time and would have been happier adventuring around the country side.
Sucks my Alistair won't be in my party in the expansion, what else has he got to do but hang out with his favorite warden?

Well imo, DA is actually the better franchise romance wise. I think LI's have like 10 times more dialogue than the ones in ME and there are more fluff things like kissing and sleeping together whenever you feel like it. Not to mention other party members are aware of the romance and will comment on it in banter or dialogue. And there's the gifts you get and the flowing development from liking to loving.
That being said, I still prefer Kaidan above the LI's from DA, mostly because his character just appeals to me and even with the few dialogue options they gave him.
But yes, despite all the doom ME seems to be a little...well..lighter I suppose. Like I said, for me it's a timing thing with Kaidan being a cameo and now Alistair as well even though it's 'just an expansion'.
They are just two very different games and yet it was noticable that the ME team did some work on DA as well. I am going to be hopeful because like people said, they are aiming for the Indiana Jones thing.
Hmmm, I'm sensing marriage hanging in the air...so Shepard just needs 4 words...I love you, followed by YES <3
If they give us that, I'll vote ME3 to be the best romantic franchise on its own...gosh I'm easy...no not in that way
