I love having Kaiden in the story line was so diappointed he was not a direct part of things. I am hoping Bioware or EA or whever does this now, that they read this and figure out that there are alot of us who want Kaiden or who we were originally romantically involved with to be part of the next chapter after all that is what really makes a good story. <3

Am working on a new one, am shooting it all over again under a higher gamma setting sadly this was necessary, becouse all external gamma/brightness filters aplied to it would just make it look ugly.

The new version will be different in more ways though I'm gonna try to work with the music instead of just having it play on the background, and ofc my hasty spelling had to be changed as well (squad without a u for example.)

Well I take comfort in that its two totally different teams on DAO and ME. I still have hope that ME3 will be the better franchise in the romance department. The books are more positive than DA's books.

Gaider made a world that is just miserable in DA. All the characters in the books are miserable too. Its just tragedy and death. It makes me want to just let the Thedas be overrun with darkspawn so the world has a chance to start over!

Well imo, DA is actually the better franchise romance wise. I think LI's have like 10 times more dialogue than the ones in ME and there are more fluff things like kissing and sleeping together whenever you feel like it. Not to mention other party members are aware of the romance and will comment on it in banter or dialogue. And there's the gifts you get and the flowing development from liking to loving.
That being said, I still prefer Kaidan above the LI's from DA, mostly because his character just appeals to me and even with the few dialogue options they gave him.

But yes, despite all the doom ME seems to be a little...well..lighter I suppose. Like I said, for me it's a timing thing with Kaidan being a cameo and now Alistair as well even though it's 'just an expansion'.

They are just two very different games and yet it was noticable that the ME team did some work on DA as well. I am going to be hopeful because like people said, they are aiming for the Indiana Jones thing.

If they give us that, I'll vote ME3 to be the best romantic franchise on its own...gosh I'm easy...no not in that way

I agree about DA:O, but could you imagine ME3 with LIs, friendships, and banter like DA?  That would be mind blowing. 

And despite it being corny and old fashioned and whatever else, I do hope Shepard gets a Happily Ever After ending, with whichever desired romance option people chose.  It really would end the trilogy in a satisfying way and put it at the top of my list of best Bioware franchises ever.

Mindblowing indeed....but...that would make ME3 much more of a RPG than they are planning on I fear. Which wouldn't be a bad thing imo, but could upset the shooter crowd.

But yes, I'm soooo hoping on a Happily Ever After. It's all so dramatic and tragic nowadays.

And who knew Phil had it in him?  But yes the lyrics are a particularly good fit and I also imagined the holding of the breath and the sigh, sometimes it freaks me out (in a good way) that we all have such similar pics of what's happening.

So, I told Kaiden Alenko in ME1 that I was not interested. BUT, I ended up with a picture on my desk, a hug on Horizon *and* Joker claiming we were dating.

If Bioware is going to insist on forcing the romance on me, I have conditions!! Demands, if you please!

1. If PC and Kaiden get back together in ME2- there will be new conflict. Not just- "Oh you didn't shag anyone in ME2, I wuvv you!". Give me drama, give me angst....and for once let the poor PC have a happy ending.
2. He will properly apologize for being a jerk on Horizon. None of this email crap.
3. If PC has remained faithful, so must he. There is nothing more annoying than, having resisted the adorable Garrus, the slinky Thane and Jacob "the body" Tyler only for Kaiden to say- "Oh well, I dated. Just the humans, asari, and that Krogan chick when I was really drunk but that doesn't count..."
4. Clarity. Clarity. Clarity. Right now you have two nice human guys- Jacob and Kaiden. Kaiden needs to become more defined. I get a sense of the personality of Kaiden, but who is Kaiden the man?

If you tell him (or Ashley) that it's not the right time for sexin' pre-Ilos, ME2 still counts that as a relationship.  I'm sure there are people who weren't thrilled about that, but you can still "break" the romance by romancing one of the new squadmates.  But then his picture falls over on your desk and somewhere Kaidan's heart breaks all over again. 

I agree with your list of demands, especially the last one.  It's the ME1 squadmates turn for exposition and character development, beyond, "Oh, hey Shepard, I have this quest I need to do, it's no biggy, but I will probably die at the end of the game if you don't get to it..."

For me personally I hope they leave the quest background thing out for ME3. I wasn't too impressed with it. I didn't get a sense that the new characters were any more developed than the ME ones...the only difference was that the ME ones told their story instead of going on a quest.

I often found myself simply setting the person aside after the quest and forgetting about them. The only ones I wound up liking were those that I liked at the first...before I did their loyalty quests.

Yes, David Gaider cleared it up in FAQ - there will be acknowledgement of your romance you just won't be able to actively persue it

I live in the area where EA Games in HQ'd. There's been a lot of stuff in our local papers about EA lately (they've been losing $$$).  In an article last Sunday, EA Games head (can't remember his name right now) talked about some of the changes they are making and said that one of the things EA is focused on is getting more content/DLC out on existing games like ME and DA:O while working on additional games in a series. He also said their big push right now is the Star Wars MMORPG which he said would come out "sometime this year."

Also game storylines seem to have become more and more complex, making it difficult to include LI elements in a significant way in DLC or an expansion without impacting the story arc significantly.  I know there's been a lot of fan input on this since Baldur's Gate.  I personally really like to see continuing characters and relationships and am glad to have even a cameo if it means I'll get something more substantial later (although I'm not overjoyed with Kaiden's at the moment!).  And that's what I'd really like to hear: that we will get something more substantial related to our existing LIs in both DA:O and ME!

Same here Michelle. While it was nice to get a bit of background on the characters, because there were so many of them it felt a bit so so to me. I still believe ME2 had too many characters.
Since it was advertised loyalty was all important in ME2 it felt like a chore doing their loyalty quests, which was not how I expected winning their loyalty btw. The vid of Miranda with her tough 'he has to earn MY trust' made me hopeful, but who knew it would take one little quest to win her over.

I want to know more about Kaidan, a lot more, but there must be a more creative way to achieve that.

Thanks for the info...good to know that someone lives in that area and can give a few tidbits now and again. Any idea why EA is losing money...is it just the economy or something in particular? 

I think for me...I do believe that they will wrap up the LI romance subplot...I'm just concerned how they might do that...after DAO and ME2...it seems they're leaning to the dark side a little...just don't want to see my LI die in the end.

Given that they kept referring to ME2 as the dark part of the trilogy (& the many references in interviews prior to release to the original Star Wars trilogy), I'm feeling pretty hopeful that we will get our happy ending with Kaidan.
