I chose to believe there won't be anything quite as dramatic in ME3 as there was at the end of DA. I mean it would have to be so over the top tragic since they killed off the hero of the trilogy in part 2 already. Twice if you played the game 'wrongly' ;)

Enough with the dying plot already.

I think for me...I do believe that they will wrap up the LI romance subplot...I'm just concerned how they might do that...after DAO and ME2...it seems they're leaning to the dark side a little...just don't want to see my LI die in the end.

As long as they don't pull a DAO & make it so that Kaidan has to sleep with someone (other than Shep) to survive.  It was bad enough with Alistair but I don't think I could take it with Kaidan, lol.

That would be a nightmare...I couldn't even look at the scene of Morrigan and Alistair...made me so mad...and when she said he wasn't going to hate it as much as he thought...I could have ripped her rooster headed hair out. No...don't want anything like that happening to Kaidan.

Poor Alistair.  We popped his man-cherry then pimped him out.

I gladly took that option.    I don't think there would be any reason to do something like that with Kaidan though.  This isn't some mystical magical world full of demons and dragon pregnancies.

And I'm betting it all that we get our happy ending with our love interests.  Something tells me the Bioware writers are some geeky hopeless romantics.

Just like us!<3

Don't take my word for it, I only YouTube'd the romance scenes for ME2, so I'm not the most reliable source...plus Thane kind of freaked me out with his perfect recall trips, so I didn't talk to him too much even in my own game.

On another topic...during my renegade playthrough I decided to have a "date" with Kelly and had the "almost kiss" scene with Samara.  She stayed faithful to Kaidan overall, but I wonder how they'll deal with Kelly or Samara in ME3, if they're mentioned/part of the cast at all.

Kaidan will just have to deal with the fact that my renegade Shepard LOVES flirting with women.  It's not the worst thing in the world for a guy to deal with, right???  Image IPB

I'm also REALLY hoping they aren't going to pull a "it's either your LI or the rest of the universe" plot but where you have to choose between saving Kaidan and saving everyone else (or a large number of people)....that would royally suck...and I'd be hard pressed to buy another Bioware game (even though I dearly love em'), I mean I can understand the need for conflict and drama in a game, but damnit I want some positive closure and a damn happy ending...I think that after all he/she has been through, Shep deserves that.

If they did that a lot of people would die cause I can't sacrifice Kaidan...but yeah, that would suck big time.

God, that would be awful! I can just see Kaidan being furious with you if you saving him caused so many others to die. He probably wouldn't be able to forgive you and would end up breaking up with you anyway. Please ME team, don't follow DA:O's trends with the ending. I need something happy!!

On another note, there's a new thread about the horrible romance dialog here, just in case you want to add your opinion!

Just a random thought and I realize it's probably because the graphics are a bit better, but did anyone else think Kaidan looks a bit older in ME2 ? and yes, we know he IS 2 years older, but to me he actually looks older....

and I don't mean that in a negative way at all, to me he looks a bit more "weathered" and I like it...yeah I like it a lot...ME1 Kaidan is smoking hot, ME2 Kaidan is still smoking hot, but there's a bit more "gruff-ness" to him that's very, very sexy methinks.

Kaidan is the type of man that is still going to be deliciously hot for many, many years to come...:D

I have an ME2 question - its sort of Kaidan related in a roundabout way :

Why did the Alliance (or Admiral Hackett) wait 2 years to retrieve the missing dog tags. They had to have known where the Normany was - they had to pick up the escape pods & also Shep sent a distress beacon, as well as the fact that Joker survived & could have told them exact co-ordinates. Did Hackett know Cerberus was rebuilding Shepard, is he somehow in the loop with Cerberus? Given that the email from Hackett was one of the first ones Shep received & before confirmation that Shep was alive it seems odd that Hackett would have given her the job of retrieving dog tags & placing a monument unless he had inside knowledge of the fact. As the surviving ranking officer, why wasn't Kaidan given this mission? - or was it offered and he knocked it back (I can't see Kaidan doing this - he would have followed orders no matter how hard it would have been for him). I also think Chakwas and/or Joker could be Anderson/Hackett spies - it still seems odd to me that the doctor would leave the alliance and that the Alliance would ground their best pilot.

Okay, probably more than one question, but this has really been bugging me.

This is something that bothered me too. Why didn't they find your body when they went to pick up the other survivors. Did the shadow broker get there first? I mean, yes you are really far out there in the Terminus - where the Alliance/Council is not welcome - but still.

I suppose its possible another ship picked up the distress and picked up the survivors but even then - the Alliance didn't investigate at all? Were they that afraid of going that deep into the Terminus? After all, Kaidan/Ashley get to Horizon - presumably on an Alliance ship - and thats deep in the Terminus too.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Chakwas is an agent. I doubt Joker would be though. Plus Joker is apparently invincible!

I was equally unsatisfied with these twists. Even if only becouse Joker get's this "Ohey shep.. guess who?" introduction and nobody cares to mention the old doc... especially since her biggest reason for joining Cerberus was to keep treating Joker.

I fear it has more to do with lack of development time and/or money than a deep plot twist... but I hope you are right. It would justify the forest of loose end they've created this time around.

I don't know...he didn't 'deal' too well with the Liara thing. Kaidan strikes me as the extremely jealous type. But I doubt if you flirted with Kelly or Samara it will be mentioned.

I actually found that my Shepard looked a bit older as well. My mom watched the ending videos with me, and when the camera panned over my Shepard's face as she looks at the data pad Joker handed her, my mom exclaimed "Wow, she's not that young, is she!?" to which I responded "Nope, the lovely thing with these games is that it isn't some kids in their lower 20s running around saving the galaxy." I get enough of the teenager-hero stuff in animes and stuff. Mind you, I just turned 19 so I keep finding the teenager heroes quite amusing. "Yeeeaaah, I wish I could do that too at this age."

Agree with both of you...Kaidan did look older especially in the close-ups and my Femshep had crows feet.

The phoenix armor thing is just like the big bulky armor fem shep wears in ME2 another example of development shortcuts.

When you play Male shepard in a new game, it's Ashly running in the phoenix armor.
They just didn't care enough to put him in some decent armor for that scene.

Edit: Changed the version number :P

Totally...and I'm not biased because I'm the same age as Femshep

But that was another angle that I REALLY loved about both games, and it's nothing against the younger ladies here...but I really enjoyed the fact that both the main character and my chosen LI were older than your usual video game heroes, a bit more mature and "worldly" if you will...and they looked it...and while both Femshep and Kaidan are just downright sexy people regardless :P, I LOVE that the passage of time and the things that they've gone through show...it adds to the realism of the overall experience IMO. I'm not sure if I'd be able to buy it that they both looked like supermodels, especially after all that they've been through and come out of...

Being able to play a character that has lived a bit, given evident to the fact that even us older ladies still have the ability to kick ass and save the universe is quite lovelty indeed.

Characters that age realistically = win in my books....

Another person agreeing over here, I think Bioware definitely took inspiration from characters like Ellen Ripley from Alien and Sarah Connor from the Terminator when making FemShep, and it shows.  Neither of those characters were young, fresh faced ingenues (well, Sarah Connor may have started as one, but by the second movie she had plenty of life experience under her belt), and it made their characters more believable, and cool, in my opinion.  Image IPB

We need more awesome science fiction heroines.  Too bad Bioware couldn't think outside the box and make MarketingShepard female...ah well, maybe they'll figure it out by the time their next franchise rolls around.

Yeah, it was bad talking to Jacob every time. Although, I found it much easier to avoid the romance options with him than either Thane or Garrus (and I was actively trying to keep neutral with all 3). I like the characters just fine, as squadmates. It was still just the overhanded approach in the dialogues that would suddenly appear.

I'm on the fence about pet names in general though. Sometimes they can be sweet, and romantic. That's probably what they were trying for with "Siha", but it just rubbed me the wrong way. It's very personal, and my Shep was not trying to lead to that kind of intimacy between them.

I agree. I like older characters much better. That's what I even perfer to play at my sunday table top game. I have three characters in that, two are in their late 20s and one is in her 30s. My favorite is the one in her 30s because I was able to make such a complex history for her. I actually used her as my basis for my ME character I have gone through both games with. Though, the Shepard version of her is a bit more Paragon then the original. The original is more tempermental and wouldn't have bothered with any LI including one as awesome as Kaidan.
