And, I too had hoped to be able to hook them up after Jacob said she deserved better. He obviously seemed hung up on her.

I think the 'maybe...I don't know' was typical Kaidan myself...leaving a way out...he seems to be the type to avoid emotional pain. Probably afraid that Shep might really move on and leave him so he leaves an out so that afterward he can convince himself that he had moved on as well(while really still hurting inside).

 I think he's terrified that she's going to leave him like Rahna did. He probably felt the same way when Shep died as he did when Rahna refused to talk to him...alone and abandoned. People put up walls to prevent going through the same pain again. His 'maybe' is just a wall that Shep's going to have to break down. So we get to chase him again in ME3.

I didn't think of it at the time, but now that you've reminded me, Shep has the opportunity to call Kaidan out on this in ME1.  Kaidan is one of those "maybe" on the outside, but totally "all in" on the inside sort of people.  Someone that tends to hide their true feelings and then get all upset when you don't intuit their needs.

Honestly I don't think Bioware will go much into depth concerning the Doc anyway...unless Ash also mentioned someone.  It'll probably pick up with us having to pursue him again with a brief mention that Shep and Kaidan had a relationship in the past...because they will have to write it in such a way that will help new players understand that he is a LI.

I'm sure we'll probably get some extra dialog concerning ME(for importing) but since it's the final in the trilogy I don't think they'll waste a lot of time dwelling on the past. Some may not even want Kaidan/Ash and Liara there since they didn't help with the collectors.

Hey yeah, I wonder how that tension will play out, and how far you have to go. I sorta went for Thane but then let him down and told him I could never replace his wife, but there was still something there. In any case I hope there's a lot more interaction to make up for no Kaidan this time around and for this reason I hope there's NO new squadmates, though I doubt they'll do that, they seem to like introducing new people. OR maybe you'll get a whole new team with the exception of Joker and Alenko returning, I could deal with that!

I think that since Tali and Garrus were included with the new crew this time around that they'll probably bring back Kaidan/Ash and Liara with the next new crew...but I'm thinking that because of new players and the fact that they used the excuse that Wrex could die in ME for being a reason that he was not recruitable means that the ME2 crew will get cameos at best. I just hope they don't play out the romance with a series of cameos...probably unlikely since they talked about the Indiana Jones thing...I do believe that the Indy and Marion were in the adventure together as partners(or squad members in our case).

Not like that "Just tell me everything's gonna be all right," scene.

My femShep is loyal to the point of obsession.  She has flirted with others, but shuts them down at the last dialogue option and walks away.  Usually to go back to her cabin and stare at the picture on her desk and reread that one email message over and over.

More love letters would be nice.  A video message would be even better.  But best would be some more hot steamy post-suicide run Kaidan loving.  And if Joker interrupts me this time, I'm going to tell EDI to spin his chair randomly for 20 minutes straight.

Hehe, that would just be fun to do anyway, especially after the quip about whether I'd be in a bad mood after Horizon, gave me the urge to poke him really hard.

It just seems like you're not missing much in not pursuing a ME2 romance. In my second playthrough I tried out the romance with Garrus just to see it. But it's not even really a romance. It's friends with benefits. Jacob was hard to even talk to due to the voice stuff already mentioned. When I was talking to Thane I nearly spit my drink out at one of the options on the wheel. He talks for a bit about how special a person his wife was and how it was all his fault she died. And then the top option on the wheel said "I want you, Thane." I don't know what Shep actually says if you click it but that was pretty wtf there.

Speaking of Miranda, I found myself quickly hating her. She gets so jealous over the fact that I am able to do everything in game and she can't seem to do as much even though she is "perfect".

Why do I get the feeling that it'll be both EDI and Joker spying on the two of them this time? Joker's going to teach her some bad habits.

Yeah... the "I want you" option thew me for a loop too. Suddenly Shep became a cougar! I mean... In ME1 it was clear Kaiden (and Liara too) was interested from the get-go. The ME2 romances made me feel more like I had no chance of romance unless I threw myself at someone. Whereas I listened to my husband play and all the wimmen folk were hitting on him big time.

Between the disturbing seductive voice used to ask Jacob normal questions and the whole 'I must aggressively pursue some seemingly disinterested guy if I want a romance' it was very easy not to get the Paramour achievement. Although I admit I did listen to the starting options with Garrus just because I wanted to know if you could actually non-romantically spar with him - (For the record, he doesn't want to be added to the list of people you've already thrown on their asses though ) And I'd have liked to hear Mordin warn against ingestion of Turian... fluids.

That was funny!  Although I had a WTF! moment as I didn't realise every bugger else knew.  what really threw me was the advert on the Citadel mentioning Garrus and Shep going for romantic walks, it's no wonder Kaidan is gonna find out as I haden't even done anything other than discuss it and the whole bloody universe knew!
