As for the whole ME2 relationships are "Sup, let's get freaky" thing I didn't feel it was like that at all with Tali. Having played ME1 helped with this because I felt I had a connection with her (Garrus as well) because she was with me when I took down Saren. But as a male Shepard in ME2 during her loyalty mission she says stuff in her logs along the lines of "I wish Shepard were here"  so it made me feel as if she really cared for my guy. In the end the sex scenes may basically be "Let's get freaky" I felt that, at least with Tali, there were conversations and pieces of dialogue that made it feel more substantial.

Anyway back on track with Kaidan. I support a bromance option with Kaidan in ME3.

At the risk of going off topic, I wanted to clarify my comment earlier about the ME2 romances...I enjoyed Tali a lot as a BFF sort of character in my femshep playthrough, so now I'm doing a maleshep game romancing Tali, and although I haven't quite finished her romance yet, I get the impression she's the most fleshed out romance in ME2. I can't really comment on the other maleshep romances too much, but the femshep ME2 romance options left me unimpressed - too much of a fling/friends with benefits scenario to seem really meaningful to me.

Incidentally, I really wish we got to choose what we "did" in ME1 when starting a new character in ME2, just the picking your answer to the choices you get to review when importing an ME1 game would have been great.

And about chastizing Kaidan after the beacon on Eden Prime - well, I studied archaeology, so I totally got where he was coming from, ancient artefacts are pretty damn fascinating, so my Shep was happy to tell him it wasn't his fault (something for which she was amply rewarded).

you guys realize your trying to get ashley to cuze if kaiden is ashley is

I love Ashley.  It makes me happy when I see people around the forum using the Ashley Williams userbar I made, and if it had been a choice between Ashley and any other character other than Kaidan on Virmire, I still would have her in my game.  I think a lot of people in this thread like her too.

It's not like ME2, where you actually can get everybody out alive.  :(

I'm totally am, you're right. I'm the one who has video uploaded of choosing to let Alistair get executed and dumping Thane and turning down Liara.

Someone has to make these hard decisions so you all don't have to!:D

Bwahahaha!  Better you than me, girl!

And I always tell Kaidan it's okay.  I have two reasons for this.  One is that I really don't think it's his fault.  I mean, who could have anticipated the way it reacted?  If he'd been running up to it and climbing it, it would have been something different.  The other reason is that my Shep is the sort who feels she's completely responsible for everyone in her crew.  This is partially because she's a sole survivor, but also because she's aware that everyone looks up to her.  So, yeah, you can imagine what she felt when she had to sacrifice Ashley, who was her friend.

I agree with you Crimson, I am also interested in our history. I too could understand why Kaidan was interested in the beacon in the first place. Ancient Artifacts are breath taking when you learn who made them, and how they were made. I have even considered being an archeologist myself. However, I am now studying game design as the profession I am going in too, since I have a disability that I need medicine for.

See mine is Earthborn and ruthless. Yes, no one knew what the beacon would do but it was my Shep's responsibility to bring it back and it was more than just her failure.. it was humanities failure in the eyes of the council.  Jenkins died, Nihlus died, colonists and alliance died and the mission was a failure. She could justify the loss of crew if the mission had succeeded, its really the only way she could live with the results of Torfan and, later, Virmire.

Kaidan got off easy.

Very true. It could have been a note in the file or some actual punishment rather than a reprimand.

I don't think you could really blame him for it. I mean, what's to say that the beacon wouldn't freak and blow up when it was approached by someone else, like Shep or some scientist? Plus, it's not really his fault that Jenkins or Nihlus dies. Or any of the colonists.

So something like a note in his file would be waaay to harsh. Plus, Shep is the CO, so the faliure would rest with him/her.
