Lovely pick Lady Winde, I see the hug on Horizon as OMG you're alive, I can't believe it, but then then when he accepts you're really there the sudden realisation that he's pissed at you hits him and all the hurt and anger comes flooding out.

Let's face it who would be annoyed with Shep's 'hey how u doing?' but as someone else said I think it fit's Shep's character, she's a professional and not likely to blurt private things out infront of her new crew, especially as they're relying on a strong leader to take them to hell and back.

So it did hurt but it feels more real and of course it all adds to the suspense for ME3, they'd just best not screw it up!

Whatever the reasoning and interpretation, it was a typical Kaidan response, which I loved. But Shepard, yes I can pretend she's all duty and business but it sorta falls on its bumm with how she is towards the rest of her crew. She easily tosses alliance military protocol out of the window, even says so to Kelly on like their second conversation.

So I can't chalk this one up on the 'duty first' list no matter how hard I try or even want to. It's why I believe that emotionally or perhaps even more physically, Shepard fell short. The smirk she gave him as she asked that horrid How've you been? felt like a Joey moment to me "How ya doin'?" gah.

I would have loved to see her stand there, arms crossed, all tough but then see a sad frown appear on her face before the hug that is so lovely. Just to give us a hint it DOES affect her, without us having to pretend it does. I don't mind reading between the lines, so to speak, but the part of me that waited two years for that moment, was just insanely annoyed by Shepard.

Again no blame on Kaidan's dialogue and Garrus just strenghtened the scene :)

The Joey thing did cross my mind, I put the awkwardness of Shep down to the fact that it's because he a LI and not just a friend that she doesn't really know what to say or how to act, that and she has no idea at that point whether he's moved on or not, it's obvious she hasn't hell it's been days for her but although she thinks they had something special there's still that nagging doubt.

It's easy giving a friend a hug because you know they'll be pleased to see you, but would you run up to a lover who hasn't seen you for 2yrs and give them a big kiss not knowing how it would be recieved? Although she's a strong woman we all agree she's hurting inside and that's got to lead to a bit of insecurity, so what happens? Well she says something truely stupid, we've all done it, some of us more than most ;-)

The Horizon scene was sad, but I was more bummed that after the game was over, you know where you can call you LI up to the room, you couldn't at least get an email or a video chat or something...I miss Kaidan.

Oh I am not complaining about the hug or wanting to see a kiss or whatever. Hmm, maybe I should take all reunions throughout ME2, which are all approached with more enthusiasm from Shep and put them in the opposite corner of Kaidans and then tell myself she reacted so awkward because he is truly the only one that really matters. Hehe, silver lining anyone? Yes, it could work. Silly emotional engaging characters from Bioware *shakes fist*

Same here Chem Light, same here :crying:

Haha...I don't think mine cares.  Ashley was a jerk to him and he was like, "hellooooo, Miranda."

Me, I want my sentinel back.   Ahhhh the good old days, when he would throw and lift every enemy in the room...

Hopefully they can touch and feel long before the final mission.

I´m hoping for this as well. I will be very disappointed if the romance in ME3 follows the same talk during game and sex right before final mission formula seen in ME1 and ME2. It works fine for the beginning of a romance, but I hope for more development in ME3. I'm hoping for an expantion of the romance used in DAO where the sex scene could take place in the middle of the game(even if I had hoped for more conversations afterwards with the LI) but the romance still had a feeling of continuation even after the climax with lot of references to it from other characters in the game. Besides my cousland grey warden and Alistair ended up married. I wouldn't mind the same ending for my Shepard and Kaiden.

Definitely, especially the marriage bit at the end, although I am curious to see how in the DA expansion they handle this.

It's quite possible that Shep didn't know how to address him. Say she's still in love with him and it's only been a few days for her. It's been two years for him. I think she was scared that he might have "really" moved on. Maybe the way she greeted him was her own defense mechanism...trying to convince herself that it was all right if he had moved on..they could still be friends so she just addressed him in a casual way.

But in the scene to me it did look like she was hesitant with her greeting...like she was nervous about how he would react. Maybe that's the way I chose to see it. Probably not just nervous about how things might have changed in his life but also nervous about how he'd react to Cerberus. Just my way of looking at it.

Went back and did the Cerberus quest and sent the info to the Alliance...loved getting the letter from Anderson...hope it makes a difference in ME3.

ETA: I prefer selecting the second dialog option anyway...the You look angry one...it kinda sounds more realistic.

Kaidan and Shepard meet up on Horizon. I'm sure there are many things he had wished he could have done. Kiss her madly, drag her back to the alliance and talk some sense into her head, not let go from that embrace. Sure he felt confused and angry but well... atleast they hugged. Right? Right? :D

That's great!  I love your art, and I like the way you think, some gentle caressing would have been perfect for that scene.

Heh, I was unspoiled as to what to expect from Kaidan when I played through ME2 the first time. I literally played the Horizon quest about thirty minutes before going out of town for the weekend with my boyfriend. I was yelling at my computer/Kaidan the entire time during that conversation, and then I went and was all upset. Then my poor boyfriend got stuck in a car with me for four hours as I was all emo over that conversation.

I've finally finished the game. This thread has been so tantalizing, but I didn't want anything spoiled.

Shout to Lady Winde: Your Kaidan art is awesome. I've been loving your stuff ever since Carth Onasi.

I'm a rabid Carth Onasi fangirl. I was fangirling it up on the old BioBoards like no one's business. I was ecstatic when I heard that the same VA would be voicing Kaidan.
I remember your fan fic about Carth and Raven.  I was also a Carth fangirl and also a fan of your writing.
However, I found Kaidan kind of vanilla in ME1. I liked him and I liked the romance and its tastefully racy love scene, but I was thinking that if there was someone interesting in ME2, my Shep might just go for it. Then she ran into Kaidan on Horizon and everything changed.

I really admired his reaction. I loved that he stood up to her like he did. It was obvious he was madly in love with her still, so for him to reject her because she was working for Cerberus really says a lot about his character, IMO. I could not blame him at all for it either. Shep knows what Cerberus is. She saw plenty of proof in ME1, and then when I did missions like Jack's quest in ME2, it just drove it home even more. Miranda and TIM are very, very good at rationalizing but, no matter what they say, Cerberus is an evil corporation. I think that, were my Shep in Kaidan's shoes, she would have walked away from him.

So, yeah, it probably goes without saying that my Shep was faithful for the entire game. I didn't find any of the other options all that tempting anyway. I love Garrus like a bro. Jacob was mildly interesting, but that was mainly because he's the other human option. As much as I like the alien races in ME, my Shep is not at all into the interspecies relationship thing.
I enjoyed the ME1 romance with Kaidan a lot, but I always wanted a bit more interaction.  I had too much fun talking to Carth about cleaning guns.  I agree about their meeting.  My Shep does not trust Cerberus and it's only been a short time for her since she last saw him, and 2 years for him.  I liked Thane, he was rather nice for an assassin.  But if my Shep was involved with Kaidan in ME1 she will not be getting involved with anyone else in ME2.
As for the e-mail, I loved it. It distracted me from my intentions of finally finishing my KotOR fanfic and made me write some ME fanfic. I think Kaidan mentions the doctor just because he's showing Shep that he tried to move on and failed epically. I think the drinks was just that, drinks. I don't think any woman could ever compare to Shep for him, and I think that, in all likelihood, he immediately tossed the doc aside as soon as he knew Shep was alive.
My Shep has kept the e-mail and every now and then reads it again.  Where is  your fanfic located please?
The whole encounter on Horizon served to make my Shep more focused. From that moment on, she was determined to not only save the universe (as usual), but to show Kaidan that he was totally, 100% wrong about her involvement with Cerberus. My Shep took great joy in cutting TIM off at the end of the game. She was only working for Cerberus because they were a means to an end for her. She didn't feel the slightest smidgen of loyalty to them. She didn't ask them to rebuild her, but since they did, she was going to grab hold of her second chance and live her life just as she'd always intended.

I really, really want Kaidan back in ME3. And I really, really want her to be able to have lots and lots of makeup sessions with Kaidan. I think they both deserve it.

Oh, and an observation here: if you have Shep talk to Grunt, they have a convo where he talks about wanting to kill things (of course) and she can tell him that she doesn't intend to live this way forever. That made me feel that she definitely wants to settle down someday.
Agree.  If I don't get the opportunity to have Kaidan in ME3 I will be very unhappy.

My personal take on the meeting is that Shepard was feeling awkward. The game doesn't get into this much, but if you think about it, it has to all be really weird and uncomfortable for Shepard. Aside from the fact that there's the whole time glitch for her (she feels like it's maybe only been weeks or months, but it's been years for everyone else), there the whole fact of her being resurrected. If that doesn't mess with her head, I don't know what does.

Take a look at the end of the scene. Just before she calls Joker and tells him she's had enough of the planet, she looks down. The expression on her face said everything to me. I thought she looked pretty torn up, and then did her best to quickly hide it. Maybe this is just my interpretation because my Shep isn't the type to wear her heart on her sleeve, but that's how I took it.

That and the sad face she pulls when she tells Kelly that she misses Kaidan on the ship, all clues about how she feels without her needing to say it.  Even the way she says she's had enough of the colony is an indication.  Poor Shep.

I like that one too, it too shows a bit of vunerability in Shep's character.

OK, no time to read through the whole thread, so just this:

Add my support to the 'Kaidan as LI in ME3' list please, Bioware. Only played ME2 through once so far (damn work, damn it) but my FemShep Paragon Spacer War Hero was faithful. That scene with the photo before we hit the Omega 4 relay brought tears to my eyes - I'd been hoping for something like it since Horizon.

Incidentally, on Horizon I just wanted to yell at him 'The first thing I did on the Normandy was try and message you (and then my mum) but my personal terminal doesn't have that option!' Seriously, that was what I did.

I'm not keen on the wedding/children idea that floated about on the earlier pages of this thread. I mean, we've got other things on our minds.

I want to see Shepard have the option of taking work from the Council (if they still exist) the Alliance and Cerberus. If it helps me take down the Reapers, I'll take help from anywhere. Def want Kaidan in my squad though.

I think it's all about the voice. I was a die hard Carth fan, so when I heard that voice I was hooked. More in ME3 please!

Yes I'm not sure if I want a wedding scene at the end either, maybe if it's implied that would be cool.

I agree with the romance in ME3 should flow like in Dragon Age, as soon as they make up there should be a love scene for that, and a follow up with witty quips from Joker and Dr. Chakwas...
