As far as Kai/Ash go, I can totally see them being squadmates in ME3. At the end of ME2 you basically say "F*ck you!" to Cerebus and TIM, so I'd imagine you hook up with Council again (Spectre status doesn't hurt), and you go on a final confrontation mission. I can really see the Alliance wanting a hand in the proverbially cookie jar and convincing the Council to let them get on board, and then you get assigned Kai/Ash based on their former service with Shep.

Haven't really thought about Liara though...

Well someone from BioWare said their reason for keeping the ME1 LI's out of the picture was to make sure they wouldn't die, so for sure they'll be back!! 

And because they couldn't die they are more likely to be on the squad than the ME2 squad mates...since Wrex couldn't return as a squad mate for ME2 because he could die in ME.

LOL, well, the thread already has Stanley Woo's attention.  Let the Tali creepers get all the negative karma on their own, IMO...although the outrage and silliness shirtless Kaidan would garner would be awesome to behold.

I was just referring to the "Tali Romance DLC" thread, Stanley Woo told people to stay on topic in there...but it's really a pretty ridiculous thread.

Regarding ME2 squadmates, I honestly don't wish any of the newer characters ill will (okay, maybe one or two...), but no matter who else is on the team, I'll be ecstatic if they announce Liara and Ash/Kaidan will be part of it.

And hello Mr Templar!  If you really want tons of women to swoon over you, I suggest being a tough yet sensitive, caring, stubborn and strong willed L2 biotic who is trained as a tech and medic, and loves adventurous women.

Also, are you willing to post shirtless pics???

I've noticed many of the romances are set up to be temporary as well, in ME2, but I got the feeling that Garrus and Tali are with you to the end if they survive. Tali gets exiled (in my playthroughs so far) and Garrus just wants to be back with his Specter friend, the rest are dying, returning to TIM or marauding around the galaxy.

Given the premise of the game, and that Shepard is paragon (canon), the speach you can make to the Normandy crew when you take command pretty much explains why they'll be in all 3 games.

Ultimately, the game's about the Reapers trying to wipe out all advanced life in the galaxy.  The focus of ME1 outside of Saren and later Soverign, was building bridges with the other races.  This is why Shepard is a symbol to the galaxy.

Out of the menagerie you collect in the first game, the two aliens that BioWare decided to expand upon was their two strongest characters from ME1.  It's only natural they'll extend that into ME3.  It might not go quite how many fans would like it, but I have no doubt they'll be integral to the storyline.

Many of you are assuming they can be taken out easily.  The problem with that is how they've been developed, and the long term focus BioWare has had.  The irony is, many thought the same thing about Severus Snape and yet he turned out to be the most important character of all. 

I expect Ash or Kaidan to be in ME3, though as yet we're not sure as to what capacity.  Perhaps they'll mutiny or go AWOL and rejoin Shepard.  Or perhaps Shepard will be reinstated within the Alliance Navy by Admiral Hackett.  At this point we don't know what's going to happen, aside from a pretty good idea of which characters WILL be in ME3.

One of the major reasons that Kaidan/Ashley and Liara aren't recruitable in ME2 is because they play large rolls in ME3, and if they can be recruited for the suicide mission, then they can potentially die. I think one of the writers was quoted saying this... unfortunately I can't find the article.

I think most of the people from the old forums are here, but I'm a newbie (to forums, anyway). I miss the emoticons the most, well, the easy tags. It's too much to flip back and forth between another tab and pasting a long trail of computer language. Lol.

I used to root for Kaidan being a SPecter, and was extremely happy to see that he's a commander now, but I don't really want to see him as a Specter anymore. I'd rather see him serve under Shepard again (both intended and unintended pun, lol) or work alongside, but have a very important role/ party member.

I'd be okay if he served above her too.
