Hmm more thinking on my part.

Bioware stated that cheating on your ME1 LI will have consequences in ME3. Could it be that Kaidan is only recruitable if you've been loyal to him?

And then having him back on the Normandy made me think some more ;)
I would love Shepard's cabin to be like the DA camp, meaning returning to the cabin (which we all often do to feed the fish etc) could trigger a cutscene with a LI. I am sure Kaidan and Shepard have a lot to talk about to get past all events but I loved seeing NPC's taking inititiave in DA like Alistair's cutscenes back at camp.
In ME we only get that when it's time for the smexy scene, but why not make private talks etc trigger on cabin entry at times? If I were Kaidan and back on the Normandy with Shepard, you bet I would take the elevator to her 'loft' to get some answers instead of waiting at his station for her to come to him ;)

Which also leads to a lovely 'reunion' at the Normandy scene in my head. With Shepard standing in front of the aquarium, arms crossed, lost in thought. EDI interrupting to announce Staff Commander Kaidan Alenko has boarded the Normandy.
Shepard then tells EDI to send the commander up. Scene trigger with Kaidan entering her quarters, all business and stern looking. He looks around, pans his head to the right, looks at her again. And if you've stayed loyal in ME2 and his picture is on your desk still, his head jerks to the right again and he's caught offguard by the evidence of Shepard's love.
Awkward dialogue ensues, Kaidan probably comments on the size of the cabin, the fish and whatnot, they smile a bit uncomfortably and then he's back to business and wants to settle in at his post. He states they will have to talk sometime, walks away and Shep gets a dialogue wheel. At that point you can confirm your relationship, keep the option open or end it all together by telling him the past is the past etc. Kaidan freezes at the spot for a few seconds before continuing onwards no matter the answer, just to acknowledge he heard you ;)

I really need to stop these musings hahaha

Okay ...getting a little freaky here....I was imagining that very scene a few days ago...especially the part about him seeing the picture of himself on Sheps desk.

On the recruiting thing...I guess it could be possible that whoever the game registers as your LI(whether you stay loyal or cheat) is the only one that can be recruited....but I'm kinda leaning more towards Kaidan/Ash and Liara being recruitable whereas the ME2 sqaud members are not.

Wrex could die in ME so he couldn't be recruited in ME2. Same with the ME2 guys...they can all die. On the other had Liara could not die. Kaidan/Ash are two sides to the same coin...one had to die but the other one could not so whichever you chose couldn't die(just like Liara). I just hope they are in the game early on...I don't want to run around at the beginning of the game again trying to find Kaidan(and being heartbroken when I couldn't).

Kinda wondered myself why Councilor Anderson was assigning Kaidan/Ash their missions...then again I'm assuming that  the Alliance has taken over a lot of the security operations for the council since the Turian fleet got decimated.

Aw, the sweet bliss of waking up with a picture of that lovely ME1 scene. Had some major catching up to do yet again, love it :)

So, concerning Kaidan's status.
TIM leaks information to the Alliance about you being alive and now working for Cerberus. He hints at Horizon and the Alliance, believing Cerberus could be behind the colony attacks, must get really worried that a former spectre thought dead could be behind it too.
Anderson approves Kaidan's mission to Horizon to investigate, even though the official mission statement says something different. So it's all hush hush.
But why would Anderson sent Kaidan to Horizon? He's a councillor while Kaidan is Alliance. If the Alliance wants to investigate, they don't have to go through Anderson at all. It's always perfectly clear that Alliance business and Council business are seperated.
The Alliance can investigate while the Council states they can't get involved. Does that mean Kaidan and Ash are now spectres? I dunno, but I thought it was odd.

Do I want him to be a spectre? Not sure about that either. It does make it easier to place both Kaidan and Ash back on the Normandy I suppose but like others have said I would rather seem him as N7. Especially in Ashley's case, she loathes politics/politicians and bureaucracy, having to work for the Council wouldn't fit that profile.

Anyway, I am curious as to what the mystery around Kaidan's files is and can't wait to see that's going on in ME3. And I do believe Kaidan will be a full squadmate in ME3 again. It's the end of all things, the final grand battle, the epic ending to Shepard's story, he has to be there at her side!

anderson still with Alliance this is what he said, that he represent the humanity and the Alliance
Council didn't want to be involved with only human problems why would they send Specter to investigate the horizon ??

Freaky is good ;)
And yes, I immediately went to the Citadel to get some answers about Kaidan. Heck, even checked with TIM and I kept asking about my crew whenever I could. Frustrating as hell, especially since someone mentioned (pre-release) that the LI's role was going to be bigger than the cameo people were fearing. Though that wasn't an official source.

I felt this urge to complete the game after I got Kaidan's mail, part of me still clinging to the hope of finding him again at the end. Surely we would hear from him again prior to the suicide mission. So when I was ready to hit the relay, I again waited for mail and went to the Citadel to speak to Anderson and was disappointed there were no new conversation options. Nor was Kaidan there.
I so desperately wanted mail from him, urging me again to be careful and come back to him. But nothing.

Then I got the picture scene and my hopes shot up once again, perhaps he would be in the ending after all. Should I survive there must be some word or reference to Kaidan and when I saw the ending scene with Shep on the Normandy, her crew looking at her, I kept hoping there would be something....and when there wasn't, I just sat there going Wha? Was that all? Really? And I jumped up to vent my frustration.

Character interaction and romance is THE major reason I enjoy Bioware games, along with the great storyline. I feel whatever character I play is the female lead in a great story and while the stuff you fight adds tension and action, it's the conversations and cutscenes I look forward to the most.

So despite my fears for ME3 and setting myself  up for disappointment already, deep down hope is building yet again. I just can't help myself, especially since it now feels as if Bioware has to make it up to us in ME3. Not they are obliged to do so, but I sure as hell feel it that way ;)

I love that I am not alone in my somewhat odd interest of predicting Shep/Kaidan's reunion!
Like the rest of you, I have definately thought about Kaidan having some reason to be in Shep's cabin and come across the picture she has of him.

But I want them to kinda pick up the broken pieces that Horizon caused, you know? Like not this immeadite get back together. I would love for Shep to be pissed about Kaidan not giving her the benefit of the doubt, because Kaidan said and wrote how much Shep meant to him but he couldn't get past Cerebus, and I would think Shep would be hurt by that (especially going by the "Kaidan you know me..." dialogue), despite his (very good) reasons for not liking Cerebus.
So with that Kaidan has to build himself back to Shep...and then have the awesome reunion Posted Image

Council is not involved in Terminus System
beside that would be stupid if you go to the citadel at the beginning of the game they know what  you are up to. They would  know that you are not went  rogue.

Well technically they don't know, why else would they go behind your back to spy on you? Well whatever the reasoning, something isn't adding up, just can't put my finger on it. We'll find out in ME3, hopefully ;)

i would love then have interuption system and show him how much i miss him ;)

2 years it was only for him, my Sheps fillings are exactly the same as they  were before destruction of the Normandy
Anyway I was always wondering about the month between Ilos and destruction of the Normandy, one month is quite a lot to sort things out

I don't know what they consider rogue though...in my playthrough the Council made it clear that Cerberus was an enemy of the council even though they re-instated her...they even told her they hoped she concluded her business with them quickly. I doubt at that point they considered her rogue... just 'out of her mind' for working with Cerberus.

They probably would have considered her rogue if Cerberus had proven to be behind the disappearances of the colonists. Now that would create some drama...Kaidan sent to kill the woman he loves...

I'd be happy if we just got a email or two with some DLC, as long as we get something. :D Haha, I'd love if Shepard's mom from the Spacer background would ask about "that dark haired gentleman who was eyeing you so lovingly" in a email.

I agree, I loved the way Alistair made the move on your warden once he was comfortable enough.  Another DA influence I would love to see is more conversations between your crew.  IMO it made the people in your party feel more real and less like shadows.

I think the conversation with Anderson after the events on Horizon are just off. The way Shepard accuses him of spying on her. Since she is reinstated as a spectre, came to Anderson at the beginning of the game etc, why send Kaidan to Horizon not only to check what Cerberus is up to, but also to (according to Shep) spy on her?

However, if you didn't save the council in ME1, you're never reinstated are you? Human led Council won't even talk to you  I'm just reading too much into generic dialogue again.

Aww man! I had a bit of an Onasi want to happen moment and I know it's cliche because they did it in KOTOR, but in ME2 when femshep goes to talk to the merc recruiter in Afterlife the dude says something like: "Hey you're pretty sweet but you're in the wrong place, the dancers go on the other level"

I was like, IF Kaidan was there I'd expect him to say something to that. But I just went with the renegade action and she pulls out her pistol and says something like: "Want to compare guns? I bet mine's bigger..."

Kaidan was with my FemShep in ME1 when Harkin starts saying all kinds of crude comments.  I remember I expected Kaidan, or even Ashley for that matter, to say something.  I thought it was a missed opportunity.  Moments like that really let the personalities of your teammates to show.

I expected something there too! But you can explain that one away because it happens relatively early on in the game where Kaidan is just intrigued by Shepard, still it would have been a nice touch !

That's right! Again you need to have flirted with him already, otherwise he won't say a peep.
