Kaidan Alenko Support Thread

I think the target demographic problem kind of solves itself. I think Kaidan was written specifically for us. If someone doesn't like or understand Kaidan, then they don't have to romance him. To make a broad and insulting generalization, the guys that play female Shepards are either the kind that are doing it to stare at a female character and are going to be drawn to Liara because of the lesbian implications, or they understand the idea of role playing a female and would be able to appreciate Kaidan. Anyway, my point is Kaidan is mainly for us. He's sensitive, but strong, and he turns down a threesome if you try to go that route--exactly what a woman wants. Shepard showing vulnerability to Kaidan wouldn't disrupt the young-male-stereotypical-gamer because that guy isn't with Kaidan to begin with. They don't care what Kaidan does because Kaidan died on Virmire for them.
If it is like the Horizon scene where Kaidan and Ashley had a one-to-one this is what happens scene, then yeah. If Kaidan swoops then Ashley is swooping, too. Then again, I think the Ashley fans are mature enough to handle Ashley being in the stronger position as well--or anyone who bothers to stick with a ME1 LI has enough understanding for that LI to be okay with Shepard being vulnerable.
Anyway, Shepard has shown that side to Kaidan before, too. When her and Kaidan almost-kiss she can say, "I can get a salute from anyone on this ship. Sometimes I need a shoulder." So I think it's likely Kaidan will return to his rightful place as that shoulder, I just don't really expect the swooping to happen.
But dang, swooping would be epic.

Funny thing i don't know if only war hero get it but in Galaxy News you can heard that Shepard Plaza on Elysium was voted the hottest place to get married - well Shep and Kaidan could try it

Yeah, I think people who are staying faithful to Ashley like the fact that she's a strong woman, and wouldn't mind if she was in a position to save their character. Guys who like strong women are hot, btw.

Agreed, on both parts. I'll be happy as long as he's on my team, but giving him a cool swooping scene or two would be extra great.

I'm just thinking aloud...
I'd like to see some honest to goodness conflict between Kaidan and my Femshep,I don't think I'd find an "instantly falling into each other's arms and confessing undying love" immediately after re-uniting in person very plausible.
I think it's obvious that there's still very strong feelings there, they both still love each other a great deal but there's also some real hurt feelings on both sides and it's going to take some time methinks to get past that. Kaidan's email was a good start, but I think there needs to be more talking, perhaps some more interesting plot developments etc..before they can really come together as a couple again.
In thinking for my Femshep, while she does want to be with him, she's hesitant to open up again and would be more likely to give him a bit of the cold shoulder at first. Femshep and Kaidan are both strong individuals and a bit stubborn and bullheaded as well, it's going to take a while before one or the other swallows their pride and initiates a re-start to their romantic relationship.
In short, there'll be some fireworks before the sexy time IMO, which I'm okay with...they say that the best things in life don't always come easy...they will be together and hopefully will end up even closer this time around, but it's going to be a bumpy road to happily ever after...
I think there'll be def awkwardness about it, not really knowing what to say to each other and then when they do get talking frayed tempers, he's angry, she's angry, you were working with terrorists, I died etc etc
It wouldn't be realistic to open with oh I love you so much all is forgiven! But what I don't want is to spend 30+hrs of trying to patch things up to get a pre-final mission sex scene. Their romance has already eveloved beyond that and I would like to see it given the time it deserves.
If they were to do the 30+hrs trying to patch things up and then having a pre-final mission sex scene I think Bioware would be going against what they said they were going to do with allowing the relationship to build.
I think we will see a lot of awkwardness(maybe even see a little split with the more angry version being played out be renegade choices) but I would think that it wouldn't take long to re-establish the relationship and for it to move far beyond what it was before.
One thing I want to hear is for Shep to tell Kaidan that she loves him...he said it this time...next time it's her turn.

I think the bigger issue with Kaidan doing the pursuing is that some people want to dump him after Horizon. Shepard has to act first because there has to be a point at which you trigger the fact that you want him back. Who knows, maybe simply not cheating on him will count as the trigger.

My next question is this:
How many morons does it take to make a forum the way it is?

Did you read that one reply on the second page?
ETA:Despite the language it was an excellent point.
And anybody who played a Maleshep knows that Kaidan was kinda attracted to Liara and would even get a little snarky with Shep about it if Shep said he saw her first. I think he's sexually frustrated if anything. And that little scene where they talk about Liara always made me think of Shep and Kaidan as two typical alpha males.

Sorry, I couldn't resist
But like I said, I want the dev's to have Kaidan take the initative in ME3, I said before I would think Shep would be a little upset that Kaidan wouldn't hear her side of it (re:Cerebus). One the lines on Horizon I really like was the "Kaidan you know me...", JH did a great job of Shep sounding like she was in disbelief that the man she cared (loved) and had been through hell and back with was just walking away without listening to her.
That had to hurt Shep ("I've had enough of this colony."/"Just another reminder I've lost more than time."), I can really see Shep giving Kaidan the cold shoulder and making him work to build himself up to her.

Haha, I don't think anyone on this thread is in the 75%, except sometimes the random people that pop in and say I KILLED HIM ON VIRMIRE KTHX?
I guess they have a right to their opinion but why here? I guess it IS a free bump...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind him taking a little initiative but I would also like to see someone interested in my LI besides my Femshep. It just seems that everyone is always after Shep...fawning over Shep. Kaidan is a catch...there should be some girl besides Shep after him...someone I can scratch the eyes out of in a cat fight. I had hoped when I heard about Miranda that they might go that way with her since she was supposed to be a Femme Fatal but Kaidan didn't even get to be on the ship so that idea went out the door.
Not saying I want him to have an actual interest in someone else but I just would like to see someone in the game see how great he is.

I'm a bit saddened by the fact that it'll be another one or two playthroughs before I can see him in ME2. Although knowing his appearance isn't *much* softens the blow in a perverted way.

I was pretty gutted when I got to the point where my whole team has been assembled and NONE of them was Kaidan. I was pretty sure (rather stupidly) that the last person you were going to pick up would be him, since you get no inkling earlier in the game of who it might be. . I thought the email kinda suggested that something was going to happen later in the game, but I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. Don't get me wrong, Legion is alright. But a a big chunk of metal instead of my favourite biotic? Pfffft.
Anyway, I did kind of wonder why when he obviously would have known you were going on a suicide mission he didn't try to help. =/
Might have been discussed before, but it was just bugging me a little.

I was hoping for the same thing. I kept thinking Anderson or the Alliance would decide my mission was too important and send him along to help. I thought things might be tense on the Normandy, but when we survived we would have a chance to work some of it out. Especially since you can keep playing after beating the Collectors.
Just a lot of wishful thinking on my part apparently. Now I am hoping for some great insights into ME3 to be announced at E3 this year.

We couldn't help it!!!
I loved Ashley, and I still rate her higher than most of the new ME2 squadmates as one of my all time favorites. But...but...
HEY!!! You can't make me feel guilty, you nuked Kaidan!!!
