This kinda makes me feel like I'm gonna hurl. Most people are going to play more than one save and if the save isn't a single Shep it's gonna look like they don't care at all for the old LI's. It only has to be one save...they could be faithful on 20 other saves and still it's gonna look the same. And a lot of people are just trying out the new LI's for the sake of trying them...it's not even that they like them...they just want to try out every aspect of the game.

I guess the best way to counteract it is to play as many loyal to your old LI games as you can...but that info is depressing. And it doesn't look good...how can you track how a player is making use of Kaidan if he isn't even really in the game...except the stay loyal thing...and like I said a lot of people just try out the new LI's because they've got to try everything so there will probably be only a small minority of old LI loyalists in their info.

I can here it now...

Player:I stayed loyal to my old LI in my canon save.

Bioware: Yeah, but you had 20 other saves where you cheated so we didn't really think you cared much for your old LI so we threw him out the airlock.

BW isn't a company that caves to external pressure, most of the story arc will already be planned out, Garrus and Tali were originally going to be LI so they haven't actually caved, just reintroduced a feature they removed earlier.  They know where they're going with this game we just have to have faith.

Of course it doesn't hurt for us to stick around to show our loyalty and be the polite well behaved children that actually get what we want because we ask nicely for it Posted Image

Actually some people think they caved on the love scenes concerning nudity.

:DPolite well behaved children...where does that leave the Tali fans?

Really? Because I remember Bioware being highly surprised there was such an interest in these characters, for they believed people wouldn't find them physically attractive. Never knew they planned to make them LI's before that. If that's true it makes me feel a bit better, surprisingly.

Def Tali and I'm pretty sure Garrus.  That was why they dropped it in the first place, because they couldn't see that anyone would want to romance a faceless alien, sheesh how wrong can you be.

Welcome to the thread, Tatooine92. And for all lurkers, feel free to say Hi we won't bite ;)

And Michelle7, that does sound logical oddly enough. Hopefully Bioware will clear it all up soon....very soon.....like....very very soon!

BECC4 : thank you :)

Maybe the nudity thing is the loyal fans reward?

Hopefully being sent to bed with a smacked bum and no LI Posted Image

Edit:  Actually I think it would be really, really funny if Tali dumped Shep for being too clingy LOL

I agree...had no idea that they had wanted to make them LI"s before but I still feel it was fan pressure that had them reinstated.

I'm hoping we have a choice as to who we can recruit in ME 3.  A set up where if you recruit character A. character C will not join up would be great.

In your opinion, we do however agree on one thing, I don't want to have to include psycho's like Jack in my party whereas I would glady welcome back Kaidan/Ash/Liara.  I think the key to making everyone happy is choice.

I'd take Jack over Kaidan, with her enhanced biotics and L5 implant.  Do you think they'll upgrade Kaidan from his L2 or is that to central to his character?

I can't approve of either the Ashley or Kaidan romances.  It's highly unethical to become involved with a jr. officer or NCO under your command.  I was very unhappy about that aspect of ME 1.

In a way but if you've already got it planned and then you think you've screwed up, but later someone helps you realise your first idea was actually good it prob acted as more of a nudge than anything else.  Judging by the devs response to the Tali crowd I actually think they (at least the majority) are doing themselves more harm than good.

If nudity is what makes the love scenes and romance lines more tasteful them I'm all for it. The ones this time didn't measure up.

Funny how the nude lovescene from ME1 was more tasteful than the dry humping in ME2. Well at least for male sheps. The sort of snuggle with Garrus, the single kiss from Thane and the stripping Jacob just can't compare at all.

What I DID like about the maleshep/miranda scene is the way he grabbed her at first. Now THAT I would love to see Kaidan do as well ....

Unfortunately that works the other way too...they have something planned for the ME LI's but a lack of interest causes them to rethink what they were planning and they scrap it. All the more reason for the Kaidan/Ash and Liara fans to stay as active and as vocal as possible.

Okay...is there something about the devs and the Tali crowd I don't know...I remember the stuff on the old boards where one of the Dev's said something about the Tali crowd would rape Tali if they could and that they were creeping him out...but has something else been said since then.

I agree her abilities would in theory be superior but in practise I found Kaidan a more useful squadmate, that could always be down to ME1 over ME2 can't test it Posted Image but as a character I hated her, just my opinion.

I agree it's unethical but it adds to the danger (sort of) and if you didn't want to be in breach of regs, there was always Liara.  Anyway the point is moot for Shep now as not in the alliance and even if reinstated will be same rank as Kaidan, I suppose still aplies for Ash.

Twas about another Tali thread where mr. Woo told them to stay on topic and then wondered if it could even be called a topic at all. Made me laugh.

I hope they leave him with his L2 implant. I think it's important to him, and he has resoundingly refused upgrades in the past. I don't see him changing his mind unless he was forced to (like it was going to explode his brain).

I know for me the whole "inappropriate" part of the romance is what I like. Both Kaidan and Shep know that they shouldn't be flirting, and they shouldn't get involved, but the fact that they do shows a much more human side. Regs be damned! Posted Image

So are you making this argument in the Ashley Williams Support thread also, or do you think it's easier to troll this thread, where the participants are predominantly women?  Just curious.

Seriously, as Kaidan fans, we're very used to haters.  We know you think he's whiny/wimpy/gay/Carth/a threat to your masculinity just by being a male character.  Coming into the Kaidan Support thread just to reiterate this isn't edgy or special.

So, in conclusion,

Yes, hence my regular and vocal visits to this thread, but I think length of service is as important as making noise.  So we need to stick it out, let the new game fever die down and if they can see us trusty loyalists are still here ......... well I'm hoping good things.

There's nothing in particular, it's more a feeling and the general inappropriateness of much of it is annoying other players as well.  I have seen the odd comment, there was one like 'get the thread back on topic if there was ever a topic here to begin with' the tone of the devs seems off when dealing with that group.  I couldn't point you to the evidence but I remember snippets of things that lead me in that direction of thinking.

No, miss/mrs Hudson, they are not.
Jacob and Miranda are forced silicone add-ins. If your idea of compelling is forcing Shep to take a certain tone of voice with them then sorry, mission failed.
Jack is... well, need I realy say it?

The next ones, appart from being alien, as in a completely different species, kind of resembling certain animals...

Garrus is a nice bloke and all, but he's a bit too focused on his whole homocidal-psycho-cop thing.
Tali is - come on seriously? Somebody in a permanent spacesuit that always wears a helmet making it impossible to ever read any kind of emotion from her eyes? No thank you.
Thane is, well dying for one, confiding you in his feelings for his dead wife, making up excuses why he is not morally responsible for killing his targets. Not to mention he resembles some kind of tropical fish.

Compelling? Not to me!

That will be an interesting thing, too, to see whether people can stay true to their Mass Effect 1 love interest on the level that you'd think they would.

I wonder what she means by: "...to see whether people can stay true to their Mass Effect 1 love interest on the level that you'd think they would."

She's probably refering to the billion ways you have to jump your unsuspecting victims in their private little rooms. Some of these choices in conversation are subtle and hard to spot too, untill your intended genuine-friendly-interest question suddenly results in hormones bouncing around between the bulkheads, and you franticaly looking for the option: "GET AWAY FROM ME FISHMAN!"

It's not really about the regs, it's about getting involved in a relationship with a subordinate while being in a strict power hierarchy.  It’s like dating your admin assistant or an intern with less HR protection for them.

It is also bad for ship morale and general discipline.

So Liara is my ME1 LI each play through. I was really happy with the new choices in ME 2.

I agree with the inappropriate part...breaking regs for love is romantic especially for someone like Kiadan who is kind of by the book...shows that Shep really has an affect on him.

As one of the oldest of human biotics they could literally go anywhere with his ability since no one really knows the long term affect of eezo exposure on humans. Humans are new to the biotic community.Who knows his abilities could start increasing when he hits a certain age.

On another note...if you saved Burns the L2's get reparations...so Kaidan has probably come into some credits since the last time we saw him...wonder if that explains the smoldering new armor.

Maybe TIM decided that Shep needed to be a hussy and had Miranda fix her up. That's the only thing I can see on why I was so forward with so many of my male squad members.

Though, I think Bioware added the Mordin dialogue to mock the rampant hormone overdrive that you get with just about all the other characters.
