Well, I saved the Council on my playthrough. I'm not sure after the devestation of the fleets that they could afford to give much shore leave to anyone (not even the Normandy). At least not in my version of the story. If I ever get my thoughts unmuddied enough to write these stories, I'll sharez.

Right that's a good point. No time for luvs. :?:pinched:

Yeah I doubt any shore leave but everyone knew about their relationship, even Cerberus! So i figure even trying to be discrete they must have had some alone time and I agree about boys, always with the peaks Posted Image

Is it ridiculous that I miss his voice in ME2? When I saw him on Horizon in the cutscene and then after we kicked Collector ass, I was just overjoyed and glad my DH wasn't around to see my dorky reaction.

Then..no more Kaidan.

I loved the email but I feel like another play through of ME coming on just to interact with Kaidan. LAME!

Haha, that's the same reason I replayed ME1 just now. Sure, I could have just found a saved game online to import for a new character in ME2, but then I wouldn't get 20+ hours of Kaidan goodness.

One was a rabid xenophobe and the other a gloomy wimp.  The non-human characters were all a lot more interesting.
I'm hoping we have a choice as to who we can recruit in ME 3.  A set up where if you recruit character A. character C will not join up would be great.

In your opinion, we do however agree on one thing, I don't want to have to include psycho's like Jack in my party whereas I would glady welcome back Kaidan/Ash/Liara.  I think the key to making everyone happy is choice.

I'd take Jack over Kaidan, with her enhanced biotics and L5 implant.  Do you think they'll upgrade Kaidan from his L2 or is that to central to his character?

I can't approve of either the Ashley or Kaidan romances.  It's highly unethical to become involved with a jr. officer or NCO under your command.  I was very unhappy about that aspect of ME 1.

I hope they leave him with his L2 implant. I think it's important to him, and he has resoundingly refused upgrades in the past. I don't see him changing his mind unless he was forced to (like it was going to explode his brain).

I know for me the whole "inappropriate" part of the romance is what I like. Both Kaidan and Shep know that they shouldn't be flirting, and they shouldn't get involved, but the fact that they do shows a much more human side. Regs be damned! Posted Image

It's not really about the regs, it's about getting involved in a relationship with a subordinate while being in a strict power hierarchy.  It’s like dating your admin assistant or an intern with less HR protection for them.

It is also bad for ship morale and general discipline.

So Liara is my ME1 LI each play through. I was really happy with the new choices in ME 2.

So are you going to link us the posts you made in the Ashley Williams thread calling her a rabid xenophobe and making this same argument, or should I just assume I was right about you being an insecure troll?

Also,

Morning!  :wizard:

I don't think I bothered to make the same argument in the Ashley thread; I was going to but didn't see the point.  I enjoyed the discussion more in this thread.  I do think Ashley is a rabid xenophobe and a relationship with a NCO under your command is unethical and bad for ship morale and military discipline.  I’ll go add that to my don’t care post about Ashley.

I don’t understand the troll accusation.

I personally find Kaidan to be too gloomy and, well wimpy.  Ashley is a rabid xenophobe and I think she may be emotionally unstable. She deifies you when you run into her on Horizon which is a bit creepy, just before she calls you a traitor.    But my main problem remains the unethical nature a romantic relationship with a military subordiante.

-Incase you missed it, I do hope that Kaidan/Ashley are available as an option in ME 3.  I'm just hoping for choices in who we can pick for my team.  That way everyone is happy.

Haha, I got the level 30 achievement on my first run, but I still feel like making a new game + with my "main" Shep...just to see her hug Kaidan again.  SIGH.

Regarding whether it was kosher for Shepard to have a relationship with Kaidan/Ashley...you don't "hook up" with them until you've stolen the Normandy.  As Kaidan says, fraternization would have been low on the list of charges on their courts-martial.  But really, it's disingenous to say that people should not have romanced Kaidan or Ashley because they were in a position of power over them.  The game deals with this subject very well, and I never got a sense that Kaidan or Ashley were at all unable to say no to Shepard.  Both parties were adults and willing participants.  They knew what they were getting into.

Honestly, the only part of the relationship that I didn't like was directly after Virmire when you are discussing leaving Ashley behind. You see just Shep and Kaidan sitting in the briefing/comm room discussing it. You can be honest and talk about how your feelings for him influenced your decision.... and "OH HAI" the camera zooms out to show you making that admission to the entire crew.

I was like "WTF". Shep wouldn't have been that clueless to do that.

Maybe I'm just grumpy because I had to travel through a blizzard to get to work this morning, and all my co-workers stayed home, Posted Image but your original post was right after a "LOL I nuke him every time" and a "can't believe GAYDEN has a thread" post, so I assumed that you were just coming in here to stir the pot.

If you prefer the discussion in here, that's cool, I do think that whether Shepard and Ashley/Kaidan should have crossed the line is an interesting topic...I disagree with your conclusion, but I'm married to a guy who I used to supervise at work...so maybe I'm biased.  Posted Image

I too think it was more than one night, I think the reference of remember that night on Ilos wasn't because it was the only one but rather it was special because it was the first and under the most unique set of circumstances.  I don't necessarily think they were at it like bunnies (although I know I would be!) but I think there would have been many intimate moments both involving and not involving actual sex, in the month b4 the attack I think they would have become very very close hence Kaidan's struggle to get over her death and his reaction on Horizon.

You know I'm thinking they probably got a week or two of shore leave or something right after the defeat of Seren, I'm not too keen on believing that after all the Normandy crew went through they'd immediately be thrown back to hunting geth, didn't they deserve a break? I think so!

That's what I was thinking...that they got shore leave...

The way they leave it is probably up to personal interpretation...I tend to focus on them being pulled out of the rubble at the citadel...seeing them all beat up and hurt...I'm thinking shore leave. Others may focus on the last scene where Shep reaffirms that the reapers are still a threat and she is going to stop them...for them it might be right back to duty.

I prefer shore leave for my Shep...that they had a week where they could be alone and once back aboard the Normandy they held back on the actual sex for the sake of the regs. But however someone chooses to look at it, I love the fact that Joker calls it dating...shoots a hole in theory of all those that thought it was a one night stand.

When you become a Spectre, you are technically removed from the chain of command even though you are still in command of the ship. It's more like James Bond having an affair with an officer.

Yeah I kinda wondered how much Anderson knew about their relationship...that maybe there could have been another reason that he didn't want to tell Shep where Kaidan was (and no I'm not talking about Anderson and Kaidan being an item).

I wondered if maybe he was afraid that because of the way that Kaidan felt about Shep that she might have been able to convince him to leave the Alliance and join Cerberus. I know that wasn't the stated reason but I jjust wonder if it could have been in the back on his mind(in a fanfictiony kind of way).

IMO I always felt they would have gotten some brief shore leave.  Shepard and her crew probably all need to recover from some minor injuries and the Normandy might be in need of some repairs after the battle over the Citadel.

Evil evil. Gosh, I hated that VO line. Bad directing on Bioware's part.

Yes!  Sometimes it freaks me out how similar our thoughts all are!  I'm sure he knew about it and was afraid Kaidan would leave with Shepard I mean there was the whole checking up on Shep thing too but it had to be a factor.

What happens is that when you quote quotes that are quoted from a quote, it makes the quote boxes take up a large part of the screen.

You just need to go in and delete some of the quotes and it'll look normal again.

You think it's freaky...I actually wrote something similar to your comment:

LOL me too, I explained it away to myself as them having a quiet chat away from the rest of the group and then someone interupting them but not being 100% sure what they were talking about.

and then wiped it out and wrote something else. But yeah, that's the way I looked at it too.
