Kaidan Alenko Support Thread

Pretty much everything has been said but I do want to show my support.
I like the new crew but not as an LI; dunno - hated the awkward jump into "personal" conversation with Jacob and as much as I like Garrus and Thane as characters, just wasn't too interested in them romantically. Their romance scenes (thanks YouTube!) just seem stilted, partcularly Garrus's. The ME1 romances built over time and after several convos; these just seem rushed.
So, my paragon FemShep was faithful and just hopes she'll have a chance to really talk with Kaiden. The email from him was ok but it would have been nice to be able to respond in some way. He wants Shep to understand that it's been two years for him but I'd hope he'd be able to talk with her and understand that for her it's only been about two months; the pre-Ilos love scene and her feelings are still pretty current for her. I do hope Bioware brings them back as full, joinable characters and I'm clinging to this hope via a memory of Casey Hudson saying either in an interview or a blog...can't remember which...that the reason the ME1 LIs only make a brief appearance is that they are being "saved" for ME3.

I really think the picture of his desk was either really lazy editting or a mistake on Bioware's part. Or they're together. Which means I have my work cut out for me.... Captain Anderson doesn't secretly have a phD does he?
Haha, like I said earlier, I think it's a simple mistake. There is a second picture frame in the captain's quarters of the Normandy that doesn't "activate" when you approach it, and it is the same size as the frame on Anderson's desk. I think the Kaidan pic animation was mistakenly associated with the frame on Anderson's desk...again, it doesn't "fit" correctly and just looks wrong.
Oh no. I have no doubts, I was just joking. Bioware is entitled to a few mistakes here and there and I didn't notice the picture til my fourth time in the office, so they probably missed it too.

I'm a big Alenko fan. Even with my male Shepard, I killed space racist Ashley so he could stay aboard the crew.
Aw, you could have said that w/o calling her racist (so not true!)
but yeah,it's almost impossible for me not to Virmire her because I love Kaidan so much!
I vaguely wonder if we *cheat* on Kaidan with Thane, even though he's f*ing a doctor, why that would mess up any continuity in ME3. Talk about a double standard! I don't beleive it should affect a reunion in ME3, if Shep cheats, however, I'm not taking any chances

I like his story, his mannerisms, he's sweet and the little slips he makes are utterly delightful, the scene on the citadel, the way he tries to be all disciplined but can't help himself, he's just awesome.
My favourite bit in ME1 (after the love scene obviously) is the dejected look when he thinks Shep is dead and then the half smile when he sees her coming through the rubble, it made me go all fuzzy inside.
I was disappointed he didn't play a bigger part in ME2 but can understand it too and I think it's written well, he's clearly not over Shep, the reaction (which I think was more shock and confusion than anything else) proves it and of course the confession about the doctor and the drinks, he's blurting it out because he feels guilty and obviously still cares.
I can see why he's angry, he doesn't know Shep was actually dead, he just thinks she hasn't told him, of course for Shep it feels like 5mins so she can't understand his reaction. Neither of them actually says it's over, they're both confused and angry with each other because neither has been what the other has. Sounds like a normal human response and a realistic relationship.
So yes my Shep was angry but when she got the e-mail she felt a little better, after all there was still a chance, but she felt sad as well.
Many a time I took Shep up to her cabin to re-read the e-mail and stare at his pic, she was lonely and missed him so found herself connecting with Garrus, after all he was a link to the old crew, she cared for him as a close friend and even started flirting. She considered 'blowing off steam' but seeing Kaidan's overturned pic made her realise she still loved him and it wasn't fair on her friend Garrus so she called it off and remained faithful.
The end staring at the pic I thought really captured what would have been going through Shep's thoughts, she was doing it all for the people she loved, even if she may never get the happiness she wanted.
So I think regardless of what some think, it was well written and Kaidan's character is in keeping with human emotions and realistic reactions, I'm convinced that us Kaidanites will be rewarded and that it's all intentional. Hell to get this much of a response they must have done something right!
(Sorry longer than I intended)

Personally I thought the e-mail made it sound like it was just a one off involving drinks, sounds too hung up on Shep to have let anything else happen. Don't think of Kaidan as a one night stand kind of guy and think if it had been more he'd have described it as a fling or something *shrug* just my opinion.

Feeling like ME2 kinda passed briefly over the LI's. Atleast female Shep ones. Or maybe it's just me who thinks Jacob is a total **** and Thane is too mysterious not to mention green. I do love Garrus as much as Kaidan, but not in the same way. So I'm a little out of options even if I wanted to cheat.

I don't think it was anything like that with the doctor, from the sounds of things he was still thinking about Shepard so I don't think he would have slept with whoever it was. The fact that he told Shepard is really sweet, in my opinion. It took Kaidan a long time to open up to Shepard, I wouldn't think that would be any different for anyone else.

Just ended my youtube run of the male shep romance options and geesh, there sure a huge difference between their scenes and the ones we get. *shakes head*
I do hope they that much effort in Kaidan's scenes in ME3, that's for sure, because after all we'll be waiting for it for quite a long time

Yes! Very much this. Kinda made surviving feel that much good.
Shepard: First time I look like I die but don't, the guy smiles at me. The second time, he tells me where to stick it. What the heck?

I like Kaidan, unfortunately a thread like this probably won't last for very long. I hate that I'm in the minority because I absolutely love him. This forum has made me start to absolutely loathe Tali.
Yeah, I absolutely loved the way Bioware portrayed him in the first game and how he DID seem to like FemShep from the get-go. He's absolutely adorable and his romance wasn't just like thrown at you like most of the other ones in ME1 and a few of them in ME2. He was adorable after you saved him on Eden Prime and when you were looking out at the citadel.
I actually liked what happened in ME2 because it set it up well to finish in ME3, he got angry and upset because he'd thought you'd been dead and you were working for a freakin terrorist organization, then his e-mail was like >
But this forum is all about Tali, and you guys can jump off a cliff for all I care.
I don't care much for Tali, either. I dunno if I want those guys to jump off a cliff, but I just don't get all the Tali love. Doing her loyalty mission was like--"Blah blah blah. Can we just kill these geth and get out of here, please?"
But Kaidan is the BEST! I LOVED his scene at Horizon in the new game--it was AMAZING. I love how he's grown as a character. It's nice to see him in a leadership role, with a little fire in his eyes.

I wouldn't have minded if Kaidan had had another relationship after Shepard was dead...but I'm glad he said his date with the doctor wasn't serious. I mean, what woman is going to compete with Shepard, anyway? It would just be cruel to let her think she stood a chance with Kaidan once he saw Shep again.

Anyone have any speculation about which doctor on the citadel he's refering to? We'll probably never know but the only one we know of is Dr. Michel, and she's sent you an email inquiring about Garrus and his great passions... It would make for some drama if it's the case that Kaidan and Chloe went on a date and but they're both pining for other people. Maybe it's just too day time soap though..

Nice drawing there Lady Winde, hope to see more. :3
I have to admit I got teary eye when I see him on Horizon, but that was before he accuse me been a traitor.
I don't know how most people felt, but I think he move on, or at lest tried to move on. T.T
Two-year is a long time, so I won't stop you Kaiden.
Romancing Thane now, he is such a badass. I love his loyalty mission dialog.
"That might go down in history as the shortest interrogation ever."
