Sooo...forget Captain and go with something like Ultimate Guardian and Leader of the Galaxy?
As General Septimus says, "Shepard, you'd make a fine general yourself one day...."
I think he and Shi'ara were being prophetic.
But "General" is a much more boring title. Besides, it wouldn't be a General of the Alliance, it would be General of the largest interspeices fleet in recorded history for the sole purpose of killing Reapers.

Exactly. She's Alliance Navy anyway, so would be an Admiral and not a General. I think Ash is the only marine aboard.
I don't think they cover Council ranks, but given that the Turian Fleet is the de facto Citadel task force, it makes sense it'd be along their rank structure.

Something I really hope we get to see in ME3 is that Kaidan isn't just a LT anymore... he is a Commander. Shepard is barely a Spectre and he now has some experiences to draw upon that he didn't before. I personally would love to see them butt heads a little or Kaidan get frustrated because Shepard is leading the charge when he is just as capable as doing so too, and even did so when she wasn't around. Sure, this isn't Kaidan's story, but I'd love to see this growth in ME3 or an expansion. (Same can be said for Ashley too.)
Maybe Kaidan with his own ship coming to Sheps rescue for once:wub:
Yes, that is something I'd like to see...Kaidan rescue Shep for a change.
Which would then lead to an agrument with shep because she is mad at him for putting himself in danger, up until a firey Kaidan saying shomething like "I lost you once, i won't lose you again" followed by him throwing shep on her nice new bed and....................![]()
*cough* i think my point is made.
And a wonderful point it is.
It's great seeing the new Kaidan avi's...it's about time he got some attention. I can never get enough of that handsome face of his....of course their other views but I guess they wouldn't put that in an avi.
I wonder, since he was included if maybe the devs are noticing a greater demand for more of Kaidan.

Actually, Kaidan is Shepard's superior officer now.She is still a Lt. Commander. He's now a Staff Commander (1 rank below Captain.) I'd have to look at the codex entry on ranks in ME1 again but there are 2 Commanders ranks and I'm fairly certain that's how they're listed.
As for the Council and Human Spectres, if you do a playthrough as Paragon and then regain Spectre status, it makes little sense to add in another human Spectre. Their conversation with you, and reasonings behind reinstating your status actually means that they do indeed support you. They simply cannot support Cerberus. As far as the public is concerned though, the Council is behind you personally.
I could see Udina pushing for a new human Spectre, but I'm not sure about Anderson or the Council. Of course they could mix things up a bit with new information, but given what we have to work with now, it's really iffy on how it'd fit in.
Lastly, it really depends on if Kaidan wants to become a Spectre or not. His allegience is to the Alliance, first and foremost. The Council never really instilled a sense of loyalty into him like it did for Shepard. He wasn't as distrustful over them as Ashley was since he did try to see things from their perspective. But the incidents after Virmire and the events leaidng up to the final battle and then later at the intro of ME2 really really shook his confidence in the Council.
I mean afterall, what would Kaidan say?
Kaidan: Shepard, the Council and the Reaper threat. They don't take it seriously. I just... don't know...
In reading your post something came to mind...if the council found out who Kaidan was...that he was the L2 that killed Vyrnnus I seriously doubt they would even consider him for a spectre. I don't see the Turian council member signing off on it at all.

Spectre or no, I just want him to do something heroic for Shepard this round. Just thinking about that makes my heart flutter. I have so many issues, but still. Kaidan needs to do something amazing to make up for his such little screen time in ME2!

Those are both good points. The whole thing with Conatix though was done under the table so that the Council wouldn't know about it. If anything, they'd investigate those involved and actually be on Kaidan's side.
I'd like to see Kaidan come to the rescue too. No matter how much of a baddass Shepard is, eventually she's going to need help and Kaidan makes the perfect choice to be there when she does.

The info about Conatix is sealed but who's to say that they might not demand access to it if they were considering him for a spectre. If any of the Alliance brass knew about it they probably wouldn't recommend him for that very reason...it would be something they would want to keep under the table. As I recall Kaidan said everyone just wanted for it all to go away when it happened. Bringing attention to it would only hurt relations between the Turians and humans...something that the Alliance would want to avoid.

True. I just don't think Kaidan would fit as a Spectre, not to say he lacks the awesomeness, but he just doesn't seem like he'd WANT the position. The decision would come down to him, and if he didn't feel comfortable with it, which I doubt he would, he wouldn't take it. And yeah, I doubt the Alliance would recommend him considering his past.

As long as we get more depth, I'm happy. It would certain be interesting to see the two try to 'one up' each other.
The one upping could be cool and it could suck majorly. It depends on how its executed. I doubt they'd do that with Kaidan, though. He seems too reserved to have very much of a power complex. Even if he is capable, I think he'd understand this is Shepard's battle.
I agree that a power complex would be totally OOC for Kaidan. But I would like to see him tell Shepard something along the lines of, "You don't have to do everything. I want to help you, just let me."

I think someone mentioned earlier he might be with black ops or an N7 now. That might be a better fit.
