Dwarven soldiers form a sturdy shieldwall across the mouth of the tunnel leading into Orzammar. Falling in upon them like black waves are dozens of human and elven assassins. At the feet of the dwarves is a great pile of butchered Antivan Crows, seemingly suggesting an upcoming victory in favor of the short warriors. And yet in the back of their formation the captains and sergeants of the dwarven force are being cut open one by one. These stone passages will become a grave, one way or another.

Meanwhile, on the spine of the world there are small bands of Templars and Grey Wardens locked in bloody combat against the darkspawn force that is gathering there.

While these two battles take place, the other forces seem rather isolated, each of them gathering their strength in the relative safety of their high towers, their cities and their forests.
