That is all. This ****** turned on me when his "old friend" came for a second try to kill me. He was like "as for you Grey Warden, lets see if you're second time lucky". I killed the son of a b*tch. Hated that ****** from the start.

He left because you had neutral or bad favor with him.

If you get his loyalty rating up a little, he will step aside and leave his old friend to fight you alone. Get his loyalty rating up to friendly, and he will actually take your side in the fight. He only tries to kill you if you ignore him.

Relationships are always a bit rocky when you meet on an assassination attempt. If you want to meet people who haven't been hired to kill you, I recommend taking up a hobby, like knitting. :)

What they said. I like what I've seen of Zevran so far. He's fairly different from what I expected watching the preview videos. Some of the conversations I've enjoyed most so far were with him, or involved him and other characters. I also like how he's brazenly shameless. :P

Mechanically, I prefer him to Leliana. His talents aren't split between melee and ranged, and archery is lackluster compared to melee.

Zevran: "Oh, is there something in your tent that needs assassinating?"

I killed him the first time, I realise that he's a potential follower and a potentially good one but- who in their right mind accepts a dude thats hired to kill them into their party? In the RL there is zero percent I take a chance on that. One of the few times ever playing games I let real life opinion creep into the game. It just really pissed me off for some reason. This damn game is to immersing.

Most of his dialog was pretty amusing for me, but I can definitely see where he would grate on some people's nerves. Clashing personalities and etc.

If your main character isn't a rogue then he's pretty functional too.

Heh, I did the same the first time, but for some insane reason I decided to reload and keep him. He is sassy and shameless. But so far I preffer religious Leliana to him. At least I had "fun" with him.

Zevran;s banter while exploring is hilarious. I waited a while to take him because he doesn't come with any points in lockpicking, which I found very annoying. When he finally got a few points in it, I took him along and found that he's much more effective for my playstyle than Leliana.

How far along the story does it take before he is intoduced?

For me it was after I completed my first full area after the intros are all over with, which was mage tower. It's probably based on completing any full area but possibly its just after mage tower, I haven't played through twice yet.

After your first allience with either the Arl, the dwarves, the mages, or the elves.

The only reason i spare Zevran are because i wanted to gain Leliana favor. I know she likes people who forgives other people >.<

Then you should have slit his throat while he was sleeping and you had the chance. Can't exactly blame an assassin for trying to finish their contract.

For the Redcliffe arc, it's sufficient to deal with the Connor situation, you get the cut scene and the random encounter even if you haven't completed the quest for Andraste's ashes and cured Arl Eamon.

I will never understand why people spare Zevran then leave him in camp, not even try to raise his approval and wonder why he turns on them again.

That said i kill him at the first meeting everytime.

Zevran is okay on a friendly don't-let-him-near-any-cutlery kind of way, I guess, but I don't really like the romance with him. He's a sexual opportunist, complete bragger (seriously, will you shut up about your past exploits while I try to get affectionate with you) and there's this unnerving feeling that he's just trying to find an angle to assassinate you later.

Also, he only comes in 'hardened'.

Take it as you like it.

(Oh gods, even that sounded filthy)

This...

Though I tend to keep Leliana with me constantly now and use her bow as crowd control and summoning a critter for another extra meat shield to mix things up. However, with my current playthrough, I am going to try something different.

Zevran, Leliana, and Alistair with my mage as a healer/crowd controller.

I was... oddly paranoid playing Dragon Age. Even on my third playthrough I am still just waiting for Leliana to betray me. And I mean, if I can't trust her you can imagine how many traps were set around my tent while I slept with that shift bugger around.
